Possible Lucky Draw Transformers Movie Optimus Prime

Got a seller offering me this, claims it's a Lucky Draw, one of 11 total. Have we seen/heard of this?





Is that for real? I would've expected the stacks to be that yellow-y gold plastic, it looks like this is just gold chrome on a regular toy.

I'd have to say it's fake. I see some exposed red, particulary right behind the smokestack on the passenger side.

Then again, it could be an early mock-up too. They've been known to repaint existing figures for mock-up purposes before.

Yeah, that was my impression as well. Certainly wasn't going to pay the $1500 asking price even if it had been real.

I don't know a massive amount about LDs but don't they usually plate ALL of it in Chrome? ie, even the smokestacks?

it might be a test shot of a lucky draw because i was told that there are going to be lucky draw movie items

Like a few have said already, I'm pretty sure this is a testshot of a LD Voyager Prime. Too bad they didn't take the opportunity to do something like put him in Black Fire Convoy's colors. I think the mold would look good in Black, Red, and Gold.

Well, than I guess I'll ask around if anyone's interested. a KO or fake would be weird, this seller doesn't usually deal with such things, everything I've ever been offered from him has been legit, I just wanted to double check here.

Hmm, I'm not so sure on it's authenticity personally. There any other documented LD 'protos' that looked like gold chromed normal versions without the usual gold plastic? I can't recall any...

Looks too pimped out for Prime IMO.

Hardly ever is any info for Lucky Draws. Usually we just happen to stumble upon a proto or it's revealed at a convnetion (like the gold plated G1 Rodimus Prime aka Primus figure). So, just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean it's not potentially legit.

Still, not worth the price for me.

The only one I would buy if a had a few thousand to blow is the Masterpiece prime lucky draw. That one is absolutely beautiful!

Looks like shit to me, most of the Lucky Draw Gold Convoy's have never really impressed me, and this looks to be one of the worst. The gold looks horrible with the unpainted grey.

Agreed. That is the WORST LD I've ever seen.

That's not quiet true. Most "lucky draw" toys are from Japanese magazines like TV Boy, Hyper Hobby etc and are shown either in an article or colouring competition months before they are released. Other items, such as the Primus figure and "secret" starscream were mail-in draws, though no pictures were shown prior to their release, there was still information on them around. The third type have been Takara website run competition, but again images and details have been shown beforehand.

Testshot wise, the most famous has been for the Micron Legend Convoy figure, though there have also been variants of various prize toys such as Gold Leo Convoy and Gold Magamatron.

The figure could be a propsed sample that was never taken up, much like the black G1 Rodimus figure.

Certainly an interesting piece

No gold color plastic will make him easy to repro, a pal of mine in china gold chromes tons of items, it a shame he has the grey color plastics

Even if it is fake. I Just want to know: did they reverse the side of the driver gimmick for the international releases? Maybe that's crazy but I think the lucky draw has the driver in the international seat.

There certainly have been some gold LD Movie Primes made. When I asked Hydra several hours ago and this is what he said:
Sadly I stopped buying TV Magazine a while ago, so don't have the issue the only back issue hobby mag I bought in Japan was with the clear Sixshot article. I'll see if he has any scans of the issue, at it will be interesting to see it it matches up.

nah, i think this guy takes the cake as the worst. the fire kicker figure is actually pretty cool- but fragile as hell. and it seems he is a nasty little bugger to find, also never seen the black kicker.

i second that! stacks should have been gold too! imagine if it was a 24kt gold , i wonder what it would sell for then?

Fake or not, I think Ultraconvoy would be really interested on this one.
