 | | | | | | | New Images of Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave with size comparion and close up of robot head | | Posted on 11-25-2008 at 01:44 PM by Sol Fury | | A selection of new images of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave have appeared today. First, 2005 Boards member S250 shared a nice sharp close up image of Soundwave's face with us. Next, we have a mini-gallery of Soundwave on ACtoys.net posted by Comus of TF08.net; these images show Soundwave transformed into what could be his satellite mode. Last but not least, Benzo linked us to a picture by Dave's Toylet, which shows a size comparison between the new Movie Soundwave, and the classic Generation 1 Soundwave. This new image seems to suggest that Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave is going to be a Deluxe class toy (in line with speculation that this might in fact be a Revenge of the Fallen "movie preview" toy in the style of the Protoform Optimus Prime and Starscream from the 2007 Movie line).

I think it looks pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing the full bot in detail.
Johnator:
I think it looks awful but more power to you if you like it.
Brave Magnus:
hell yeah!!! that's one sweet toy. If he is a Deluxe Preview then is waaaaay better than the original 2.
Baird:
He looks a little better now we can see him properly transformed, but to me it looks like has another bug-like mouth.. cosmicherosa:
Thanks for the review, Peaugh. Excellent stuff, and I am looking forward to your next first exclusive review.
I like the fig a lot, and I am hoping for another preview figure along with him. Maybe the ice cream truck!

Despite some kibble-lige in satellite mode, these pics look very promising indeed! Especially the head!
SPLIT LIP:
Man, this guy is awesome. Movie haters, go away. You don't like the movie, fine, but stop trolling because we see it for what it is, awesome.
tony77tony77:
can anyone tell me why the movie line look so crappy? shroobmaster:
It doesn't, you just think it's bad because you dislike it.
tony77tony77:
They made alien robots that transform into cars and jets and put autobot and decepticons logos on them and call them "transformers" to make a quick buck....the design are so UGLY. Crap Crap!!!
Bahamut Prime:
Not so sure anyone noticed, but does anyone know that part of the face looks vaguely like the Decepticon insignia in a way?
dark69:
he looks good with his g1 toy

Awesome figure! Seeing it how it's supposed to transform (with all the wings folded IN, not OUT), and a real close up of the head...great!
Bit too bad about the size though, and yeah..probably a preview figure which means he won't be like that in the movie (or not for long)..let's hope his earth mode is even cooler!
MACRAPTRON:
Thanks. These photos show us that nobody knows WTF this thing is supposed to turn into.

I dig what they were going for with the figure but he still looks bland to me.
10 to 1 we get a Leader class Earth mode toy.
tony77tony77:
who ever designed the movie line needs a lesson in robot design form Takara. Them Japs know how to design some badass robots.
Sol Fury:
Yeah, I've seen that argument a few times man. The kind of mecha that typically comes out of Japan would not look so good on the big screen. It would look awkward and boxy. These may not be the kind of robots we are used to, but they can move realistically. As far as Movie designs go, I personally think Soundwave is one of the better ones.
(Not to mention, a lot of those anime cheat when the mecha move, they tend to use still shots to great effect so you don't see the mecha move in the kinds of ways the TFs did in the first movie.) Quote:

Everyone's able to reach their own decision and it's no more right nor wrong than anybody elses. I personally think the design is fantastic, but I can respect that other people do not like it. Like I said, not traditional. Let's all remember that, please. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and there is no right or wrong. alien:
wow~soundwave looks pretty cool...i like his head design!

BADASS toy. Will be getting in a heartbeat.
Liege Prime:
Personally, I think I'm going to like Soundwave's movie look, but I'm going to hope for a larger one or the earth one, because I do think this toy's design is not particularly appealing.
soundwave34:
I wonder if the final toy will have different colors? But if he's different on earth then I wait for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
And finally this is what Soundwave has come to!
Katamari Prime:
But is it A figure, or THE figure?

That's part of the reason the G1 design was so effective for his persona. It has a certain monolithic quality about it. It also has zero kibble.
Where the G1 looks classy, Preview Soundwave just looks cheap. And that alt mode, even for a cybertronian mode, it's pretty blah. Doesn't even look remotely like anything.
That said, it does look better than the first movie's preview figures, and they did grow on me eventually.

Its not like soundwave was intended to represent these things, its just how it happened and the fanbase ran with it

This is the one TRUE Soundwave. Everyone who says otherwise isnt a true fan! http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/tr...nsoundwave.jpg | LOL, i totally agree. The true soundwave is a cybertronian streetlight, and he should be a streetlight for the movie!!

As everyone else was suggesting, its probally most likely 100% Prequel-movie mode Sundwave, ala Protoform Prime and Screamer. For all we know, he wont be turning up in the movie, or just a glimps of him entering the earth's atmosphere. There.

I like the head, anyway - if a similar head is on a mainline Soundwave figure that transforms into something recognisable as a vehicle, then I'll be up for that one most likely. | Well you can't honestly know until we see his actual movie version, for now, this toy looks pretty awesome

G1 Soundwave basically transforms into a box. It's a box with certain surface details added onto to it, but when you get right down to it, it's a box. Of COURSE there's no kibble on him and he looks monolithic. He's a BOX.
As for looking like anything. To early to tell. If he looks like something in the movie, he hopefully looks like that. Everyone's more or less just taking wild guesses to his vehicle mode at this point.
roy_flagg00:
WOW!!!!!!
This toy is awesome!!!!!
Bayformers ROK!
Seriously, I don't blame Bay for this, he is not creating the designs. I Blame America. Why can't we design robots that look cool? I mean, there is nothing wrong with this design, but their is nothing great about it either. Just another meh milktoast design. For me, the perfect example of what the movie asthetic should have been is Wreckage from the first movie line of toys. That is one of my fav designs of all time. Why can't they have gone in this direction for the in movie characters? This piece of garbage is one step up from ol' paperclip bot Megatron.
I don't want the characters to look like g1, believe me. I happen to like beastwars/machines myself. But I am not buying that this is the best that they can do. I mean jesus christ!!!! Armored Core anyone? These guys designing probably prefer Mechwarrior over Armored Core, which is also a hot steaming pile of garbage. If you like this design, there is nothing wrong with you, you are entitled to your opinion. But you are being dishonest if you cannot agree that the designs are heavily inspired by incects. If you like the incecty look, more power to you. For me, the only transformers that should look like incects are the incecticons.

I'm aware of the history of the toy line. I understand they have to change to look of the design to make it work on the big screen. All I'm staying the design could been done in a better way. The movie line i can't even tell if the toys have eyes or not. They look like some thing that came out of the Alien the movie in 1979.

It's just a cheapie Cybertronian mode guys.
Remember when we came our pants for Ironhide, Voyager Prime, and the Leader toys? Yeah? Camaro Bumblebee?
