I'm no movie hater, I think the designs look awesome on film, they just don't always translate to decent toys. I didn't like the preview figures for the first film either.
I like the head, anyway - if a similar head is on a mainline Soundwave figure that transforms into something recognisable as a vehicle, then I'll be up for that one most likely.

over at TFormers they have older pics of him transformed into a cybertron jet it looks like vector prime.... but that has to be mis-transformed i thought he was a satellite...I am a lil confused if he has a jet mode satellite mode along with an earth mode truck then he would be triple changer...did anyone else notice that or am I quite late to the game with this comment

Sometimes I wonder what really makes Soundwave to some. Because side-by-side, that is a pretty slavish deco.
Anyway. I like it. Feels very Front Mission-y and I love the gold detail by the chest intakes". Chalk me up as another who think this is a preview figure of some sort.
There is also another posibility, but it feels like a bit of a longshot. So don't take me seriously: Universe, Transtech Series Soundwave.

ok, I just seen the size comparison between this guy and the original G1 soundwave and I'm stunned. A deluxe class for is guy? As far as I can remember, He's always towered over starscream and several others but come on. Didn't they learn from the whole Movie Bonecrusher deal? If they don't make this at least a voyager, then you can guess how much screen time he's gonna get (I.e. Brawl, Bonecrusher). My only hope is that this is protoform and his earth mode will be voyager class. If not, then this is a total let down. One of my favorite and most Iconic decpticons reduced to second rate status. But that's just my 2 cents.

It's only a preview figure, so yes, it's only a deluxe. Other versions of Soundwave will follow when the movie is released, I'm sure.

you also have to realize that this is just his Cybertronian form. For something that probably won't be on screen for all that long, it's no wonder they would make it a deluxe. Chances are his earth mode will receive a voyager size class.
