| Movie Sideswipe Toy Info and Possible Headshot |
| Posted on 01-05-2009 at 02:12 PM by fosterlager | Cybertron.ca's Pascal has shared a description of the upcoming deluxe Sideswipe here. Sideswipe is the silver Corvette seen on the ROTF movie set. From the sounds of it, Pascal has a preview of the toy but as yet has not shared any photos.
Also, a cgi headshot of an Autobot matching Pascal's description of Sideswipe has been found as an avatar image halfway down this thread on ACtoys, and our own S250 just updated his own avatar here at TFW2005 with a differently-cropped version of the same image! Check it out at left!

Hey, if there's going to be a Movie Sideswipe, I want my Movie Sunstreaker. I just like the history those characters have and want them to remain that way...

but I'm saying that we don't know a lot about this Sideswipe yet.
He could be an homage to the G1 character, or it could just be a name being reused.

Like I posted earlier, I'd have more use for a Scout Class Bumblebee, but a voyager class might be worthwhile if it's comparable to Alternator/Binaltech figures.

I haven't been very pleased with this being Sideswipe either. Something about his inclusion without Sunstreaker bugs me. And the overall appearance doesn't make me think Sideswipe at all. In the end, it will come down to what his personality is like for me.

But also because of the name, I'd like to see a red repaint and a yellow repaint as Sunstreaker (like how they remolded Starscream into Thundercracker and Skywarp).

In terms of characterization, I'm sure this Sideswipe will be something like G1 Sideswipe...I mean, look at him - he seems to be a "bend the rules" kind of guy.
And I won't be surprised if we get non-movie appearance red and yellow repaints, much like Target Jazz's exclusive G1 deco.

Regarding the first leaked image of 'Sideswipe': Maybe those aren't two-pronged swords that he's got jutting out of his arms, maybe they're laser rifles?

Sideswipe looks good so far. I think he will be similar like the Jazz movie deluxe figure which was also a nice figure IMO. Worst Deluxe class was Bumblebee 74' Camaro while the Camaro Concept Bumblebee figure was very nice.

Worst deluxe '74 BB? Barricade couldn't turn his head and could barely be posed, Brawl's shoulders wouldn't stay connected, Swindle's head couldn't turn, Dreadwind was just weird looking, Jazz had funny arms/hands, Scorponok's robot mode was laughable...

Yeah. Vintage Camaro Bumblebee was great. Not the best deluxe out of the line, but certainly not the worst.

I like the way this figure is looking so far. That head sculpt is bout dead on for the concept art. Just wondering about this, but bay said that the new bots were gonna be a little bit more solid, right? Cuz the art for swipe looks more solid than the 1st movie bots did. Could be imagining things I suppose.
