| Movie Sideswipe Toy Info and Possible Headshot |
| Posted on 01-05-2009 at 02:12 PM by fosterlager | Cybertron.ca's Pascal has shared a description of the upcoming deluxe Sideswipe here. Sideswipe is the silver Corvette seen on the ROTF movie set. From the sounds of it, Pascal has a preview of the toy but as yet has not shared any photos.
Also, a cgi headshot of an Autobot matching Pascal's description of Sideswipe has been found as an avatar image halfway down this thread on ACtoys, and our own S250 just updated his own avatar here at TFW2005 with a differently-cropped version of the same image! Check it out at left!

Pascal over at Cybertron.ca has gotten some information on one of the upcoming ROTF figures - deluxe Sideswipe (the Corvette we saw concept art of). No pictures, but just a description: Quote:

Another beauty. Some of the features:
-dual shock absorbers for lower legs
-unique feet: formed from the front portion of the car (right front side of the car on the left, left front side on the right), each foot appears to be either a tire split in 2 halves with a stabilizer (foot) sandwiched in between OR a tire sandwiched between 2 stabilizers (meaning he would have roller feet)... probably the 2nd option...
-2 pairs of struts linking the upper legs to the lower torso
-chest is formed from the rear section of the car (outer parts) with a black section in the middle (exposed when you lift up the middle rear section) with a silver Autobot symbol on the right (think Alt. Meister when you lift the hood)
-clear blue windshield hanging off the back
-wheels (near the elbows) and rear car sections (pointing forward) hanging off the arms
-hands: 1 thick thumb and 2 thick fingers (a bit like Blackout)
-head is bit a Megatron-esque, but different... hard to describe... has blue light piping
-middle rear section of the car is pointing up on the back in robot mode (like Trans Scanning Bumblebee) and you can see 4 exhaust pipes
-hood halves hanging off the back as wings (front pointing down)
-red/orangy tail lights
-clear headlights
-blue knees
-car has long and pointy rear view mirrors (probably rubber)
-small molded Corvette symbol on front of the hood

Well, I guess it's Megatronish in that it looks like it has the same basic shape. Face is different but the shape is similar.

I heard a newer version of Bumblebee is coming up, possibly a Voyager, which would be odd. When I asked if it was the same as the retooled DLX CC BB revealed a few weeks ago, he said no, different toy. My source also mentionned another toy described as "green air", probably meaning a green plane. Or a chopper. No size class mentionned.

I don't think it's real, I think it'S fan made based on a few things we've seen.
If it were an official thing i think he would have posted it as news.

Sideswipe sounds good to me. Ever since his bot-mode design was leaked, he's been on my to-get list. As for the "green air" thing, sounds a bit like Springer to me.

We never saw any movie Legends class figures of non-movie characters (cliffjumper) until way after the film and toyline was released, and even those were just repaints of in-movie characters. Plus, most of the repaints only came after most of the movie cast had been done in Legends scale, never in a first wave of Legends.

...for that matter, aren't V-22 Ospreys transport aircraft? That would give the Autobots some mobility...

We're talking about two different things - one thread has stuff on the art, the other has info on the toy itself. Maybe merge the threads, but the other one seemed to be the dominant thread anyway.

The face isn't symmetrical. I wonder if he is scarred or something? Anyone think the colors here are perhaps the right colors too? How often do we see silver prototypes? And what alt-modes have we seen in silver so far? I doubt this is a rebuilt Jazz or something. A wrinkly old looking face for Sideswipe seems weird too.  Takara_destron:

I believe Sideswipe was chosen for the Corvette because his massive arm blades and wheel-like feet, as we saw in the concept art. Still, I like his face, it looks like a tiger.

Sounds interesting; certainly sounds as if the new Leader Prime toy isn't unique, inasmuchas the new Movie toys may actually look like the Movie designs this time. Which is awesome.
The leaked concept for Sideswipe looked excellent, if the Deluxe toy matches up that'll be another necessary purchase from the ROTF line...
