 | | | Image Of New Movie Optimus Prime Toy With "Mech Alive" Gimmick | | Posted on 01-01-2009 at 10:25 PM by Cataclizm1 | | An image has surfaced of a new Leader class Optimus Prime toy for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. The image indicates the new gimmick for the movie line will be called "Mech Alive," with moving armor panels. This appears to be similar to the "Automorph" technology that accompanied the first movie toy line. Additionally, the Optimus Prime toy will reportedly include double snap out energy swords, speech, light up eyes and chest, and engine revving sounds. Better start hoarding $$$.... | I'm looking at the 4 shelves of movie figures I have for the first movie and I'm wondering if I'm going to end up with a lot more for the second movie. Sequels are always bigger and have more bots right? That doesn't bode well for my wallet....

cackle cackle!! | hmmm are you all boney n shit?

Anyone else wonder if this is similar to Ultimate Bumblebee in a way?

If I manage to miss with my sharp elbow, the target may be the recipient of a rather soft forearm to the neck that probably wouldn't phase them. Infact, they may consider it pleasant in a massagey kind of way.
"Why thanks for that. I've had a not in my neck all day!"
Not the cries of pain I would hope for.

Sigh. The only other way they (the designers) could make this new Prime mold full of WIN is to add the feature of a sliding mouth-plate. Battle mode, ON! ala Galaxy-Force Convoy.
Total buy, still for me.

That looks awesome, infinitely better than the first Movie Leader Prime. If they've cracked doing a design-accurate toy, i'll be all over this...
flywheels:
regardless of the gimmick, it's a Prime so it's a must buy!
prime is a legend:
I think just from that image this toy looks awesome, hopefully they will bring out a leader Megatron aswell.
MythofBlackout:
Well, if the rest of this figure is as movie accurate as the chest/head, I'm sold. Especially since I passed on all three leader movie Primes the first time around.
Now, let's see if Hasbro does more movie accurate versions of Ironhide, Ratchet, and Starscream. Especially Starscream...
shroobmaster:
Just got to see the whole pic, it IS VERY DAMN ACCURATE, only parts that are different are some bits in the shoulder and legs that can't be just like the movie for physic reasons.
PredaconVukasin:
Ah I got it, Mech Alive is automorph, They were smart! They didnt want to name it automorph, because the ones in tf1 barley worked, so they name it something new, and no on knows! Its like automorph, but it works!

I guess I could display one leader Prime in alt mode while the other is in robot mode.
Maybe one could ride the other. To save space. Quote:

Seems more like some visual gimmick.

LUCKY BASTARD!!!!! Silent_Magnus:
After seeing it. My only real complaint is that the shoulders seem to be too far apart. Maybe the it's mistransformed? Quote:

It's how my 10th anniversary Ultra class Primal and Optimal Optimus are displayed. Although both of them are in gorilla mode. | how did you see it too????
Silent_Magnus:
It's not exactly hard to find.

I bet it has back kibble.

A good amount of Hasbro's stock photos (the one's they use on the backs of their packages) have the figures misstransformed in some way. Edit: Nvm.
netkid:
My only 2 gripes are his red toes and red shoulder-post thingies right next to his smokestacks. Those should be silver/gray.
Everything else is goddamn beautiful and spot on to the film. Wow. Excellent work Hasbro has done on this. Thanks Hasbro. YipNipples:
I love it! Even though he has movie-starscream-shoulder syndrome.
Cheebs:
Awesome!
*glances in TakTomy's direction*
Chrome please?
Stormcrow:
Hmm. Not as sold on it as I thought I might be. Shoulders look kinda lame. There are points about it that I like over the first leader Prime, but it has knocks against it too. I'm torn on which I prefer.
Cheebs:
Looks like they re-used the mold for the front grill, headlights, and bumper.
So... Most extensive "remold" ever? imranbecks:
Now that most of us here already have the new toys, what do u guys think of the Mech Alive gimmick? IMO, its nothing compared to Automorph.. I find the Mech Alive to be really useless and not necessary.. Eg, the Mech Alive gimmick on my ROTF Voyager Starscream barely moves when I turn his head.. Its useless really..
Sso02V:
Oh
my
god
zombies!!!
Slimaximus:
Lock this please
grimlock1972:
damn it hasbro why don't just hook a vacuum cleaner up to my wallet already XD
Grimwing:
Zombie Thread!
But mech alive is different from automorph. A some figures even have both.
Sideways has those switches that automorph his wheels in. As well as mech alive gears that move in the elbow.
Mech alive is neither superior or inferior to automorph it is a extra engineering bullet point for the molds in general. Sets them apart from previous lines that used that cost for....spring loaded missiles.
Bgrngod:
Why conjure up such evil old threads for discussion... WHY??
LimeWire:
automorph = automatic transformationparts
mech-alive = movie gear-parts in robot- and altmode!
rotf-figures have both techniques, movie-figs only automorph
Scourge_151:
Start a new thread in discussion dood!
LimeWire:
now its to late so calm down people.
