 | | | Image Of New Movie Optimus Prime Toy With "Mech Alive" Gimmick | | Posted on 01-01-2009 at 10:25 PM by Cataclizm1 | | An image has surfaced of a new Leader class Optimus Prime toy for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. The image indicates the new gimmick for the movie line will be called "Mech Alive," with moving armor panels. This appears to be similar to the "Automorph" technology that accompanied the first movie toy line. Additionally, the Optimus Prime toy will reportedly include double snap out energy swords, speech, light up eyes and chest, and engine revving sounds. Looks like a retooling of leader class Prime to me. Dosn't look like its got the Premium Prime head sculpt. I might have to put Premium Primes head on a new body.

From that pic, you can see that the windows on the chest are slightly slanted, the doors swung forward, and the firewall pushed out below; all features of the movie model that did not exist on the first leader-class figure.
Bahamut Prime:
Looks promising!

The transformation might have similarities, but the mold is all-new.

Glad I didnt pick up premium Prime, though I still have the original. Maybe I'll recolor him or something.

Samus_Ng:
This thing's so good I have no reason to search for an MA 21 anymore, awesome!
Lbsammills51:
Uggh! I was hoping (perhaps naively, I admit) that Hasbro would simply rerelease the Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Starscream and Barricade figures from the first film for RotF with no changes. I don't want to buy new figures of these characters...but if there are improvements made, I'll be tempted. Damn it, I was hoping I could just focus on new characters.

But lesson learned from that, i'll pick this new Leader Prime 2 and get a chromed up Takara version, if ever...
Or Hasbro and Takara would bless us all and release a chromed up premium one the first time around.
I can dream.
xandromaje:
better start saving up. looks like we're all in for summer tf toy movie extravaganza!
Sam's_Bee:
Looks intresting, wallet lives in fear now.
Digilaut:
No more teasing..show us the full bot, somebody! GUIGUI:
Do you think that this time, the arms will form the hood, like it is supposed to be in the movie?
TFfan08:
Prime looks awesome, he gonna rock. Autovolt 127:
looks very accurate to the design so far...might buy it if it combines with jetfire.

Hmmm, looks interesting. So far I dig it.
Takara_destron:
Gimmick sounds cool. As for the Prime, it looks nice but I'll have to wait before I decide if I want a ROTF one.
EDIT: It talks? That could be a selling point right there for me.
Stormcrow:
I am VERY intruiged by this guy!
GOtta see more before placing judgement, but I'm already excited.
Darth Rodimus:
TOTAL BUY!!!!! movie Prime is the most kick ass Prime so far, More experienced that Animated and more Badass then G1.

Nowhere in the pic is it mentionned the class of the toy.

Nowhere in the pic is it mentionned the class of the toy. | I assume he meant that TFW's front page news mentioned that this was a leader class toy.

Only time he rocked was when he slammed Bonecrusher.

I have since acknowledged that: Quote:

Here's hoping we get some more pictures of this, and others, soon. | Pepsiman98:
im just glad this is more movie acurate.

SKowl:
I can't wait to see how more movie accurate this version of Optimus is. The leader-class toy from the first film was amazing, it's going to be tough to improve on that.
Also, I'm curious, does it say anywhere on the box that he combines with Jetfire?
TFareCool:
well its ok but the 1st leader prime was plain awesome!
i dont really like talking gimmicks or revving sounds at all. but i think the 1 st leader was great, if this ones alt mode is super spectacular or anything totally awesome about robot, then i might get it. although those features sound like an ultra or maybe like an ultimate Bumblebee-ish thing so maybe its not a leader voyager ultra maybe its an Ultimate/ supreme figure, i dont think the leaders would have a voice box or revving engine sound, it would be a little to small to fit, so i hope the leader is different in those gimmicks. i spent 80 dollars on prime so far the 1st and premium and i love the premium, i think i'll stay with this prime.

rapid_fire:
I was super impressed by the first leader prime, just how accurate they got, and got all the electronics and automorph in there as well. The only thing that was off really, was the fact that they molded the toy around an earlier design, rather then the final CGI design used in the movie, but what can ya do, when you gotta start building the toys a year in advance.

Leader class toys are larger than Voyagers and Ultras. Most Leader/Super class figures have had sound effects boxes for years. The three most recent Leader class figures, from the Animated line, had speech as well. Even the comparatively tiny Animated Bumper Battlers have loads of speech and sound effects.
Why would a leader class be too small to have voice and engine sounds? It's just a matter of programming the sounds onto a chip. Besides, you have a Leader class Prime from the first movie - it has sounds right there.
Creaky:
maybe it doesn't mention combining because there's an oncoming Voyager which does the combining?
Just a guess.

Just a guess. | Armada, Energon and Cybertron Primes were designed specifically with combining with other figures in mind, but none of them advertised the other figures they would combine with. Usually it's up to the guys who combine with Prime to advertise the combination feature and provide the Optimus Prime cross-sell. Rather unlikely for Hasbro to not use the character's one big gimmick in this movie on his flagship figure.
Maybe both Prime and Jetfire have sealed combining instructions that say "WARNING! DO NOT OPEN UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE!" BraveMax:
"Mech Alive"? That doesn't sound like Automorph... The description makes it seem more like, "Move some panels and you get to see all the gears and parts inside the figure!" - like those gundam toys with removable panels.
viper2391:
hold your spendings fanboys... I bet a Premium version of this will also surface once every version of this ROTF prime is sold as reviewers complain of not having this... it should have been this they should have included this... and then everyone who had this figure will buy it again like a moth attacted to a candle light and everybody would said hey were not in a crisis... as most have predicted by 2009. Then repaints will come...

Only time he rocked was when he slammed Bonecrusher. | I knew someone was going to bring that up, he has the same weakness as "most" of the Primes and Primal, is his compassion for humans and since the Humans were ether too stupid to leave or Lennox made a douche call, There were too many innocents in the crossfire so he was weak, and besides, Movie Megs is awesome...not as much as Screamer or Blackout or Barricade or Bonecrusher or Brawl, but definitely better than Frenzy or Scorponok.
Thundercrackah:
Movie Optimus is one of my all time favorite Optimus designs, I will definitely pick up another toy of him if it's awesome enough, I already loved both the TF1 Leader and Voyager Primes.
If it actually comes with a Cullen voice chip won't this be the first transforming Optimus Prime figure to have a Cullen voice built in? (Note I said transforming, so that doesn't include the Cyber Stomper from movie 1, also ignoring the anniversary G1 Prime with the separate voice box.)
RodimusMark:
Well i was wondering when we might see a figure from a more substantial size class. Gosh I could really use some more pics!!!
Eric:
Mech-alive? Meh. Whatever. It doesn't make much of a difference name-wise. Though Auto-morph sounded a lot cooler.
YipNipples:
But it's not automorph, it's something different.
influence82:
I somehow have a feeling that this may have been intentionally leaked. Notice that the entire toy image was not leaked, but rather the special feature of the toy. This may have been used as a marketing ploy from Hasbro to sell to their retailers. Mech alive appears to be the successor to automorph. It would be pointless to have 2 features on a toy called mech alive and automorph that do similar things.

I give it a few days until the whole thing surfaces online.
