Awesome figure. But I'll probably wait for earth mode Soundwave.
RobotoChan:
The pictures look great Peaugh... congrats on getting the figure so soon.

As a massive Soundwave fan, its great to see the toy in the flesh. However, I think this is one Soundwave I will be passing on. Those movie characteristics just put me off. Too much kibble and cheap looking grey plastic.
blackout501st:
HOW DID U GET THAT???? DID U SNEEK INTO HASBRO OR SOMTHIN???? lucky, he looks fucking awesome. i hope they make one larger than a deluxe though
cornpone:
Thanks for sharing. That was a great video review, and neat to see un-blurred images with transformation was most enjoyable. Of all things, I dislike his visor the most. Its shape is great, but its size was too small in proportion to the visor and crown. Anyway, just my feeling on that. If this is his Cypertronian mode, then I suppose the grill on the truck image is happenstance. Anyway, the more modes for him the better. He was dynamic in the toons, and I'd be keen to see him as the key Decepticon in the film, both in plot and time. Thanks again for sharing!
alien:
Thanks for the detail review post! and soundwave is really looks like Tigerhawk....
Retroqqq:
u see the pictures with the 3 Soundwaves ?

Animated is the better one, then the Original and then this Movie monster, really seriously now is that even a robot. I think it is some kind of xenomorph alien spaceship or something...

I hope he looks good in the movie or else i will be hoping for TF:A to continue playing with more season so i may clam down!
Zipdisk:
Ok, I didn't get many of the toys for the first movie, but that Soundwave is definitely going in my collection! Man, that is one sweet figure. If he is any indication of how the designs for ROTF will differ from those of the first movie, I will be VERY happy indeed.

Heh... that's exactly how I feel about the Animated version.

I'm not ecstatic about this guy, but again, it's just a preview figure. Protoform Prime and Starscream weren't exactly the highlights of the TF1 line.

Also, I'm generally not a fan of video reviews, but the couple I've saeen of Peaugh's (including this one) have been excellent. Thanks for that!
Doug:
I wonder when the toy will hit the retail stores?

Soundwave of the Ages
Maximum Burn:
1) Is the wings and stuff made of soft flimsy plastic? I hope not but knowing Hasbro's safety standard, it's more than likely...

2) Hey, does anyone remember that drawn blackout concept where his rotors formed up to become a cannon? I want to show it to the guys so that they can try that configuration.

3) It's okay. I really prefer the other lines than then movie.

The only "soft" plastic I've noticed on him is the arm blades. Everything else is solid.

SteamFan42:
I think this is a better alt mode then the one in the G1 cartoon, with Soundwave the street light. As for the toy, from what I've seen/heard, I like the ankles and feet, but the arms aren't selling me, neither is the kibble on the back. Peaugh, I have to say, your update lowered my opinion of the figure just a tiny bit, I preferred it when all the satellite bits were all together in the 'cape,' I think you called it. Anyway, I think I'll pass on this toy, for now, since I'm not such a fan of the Movie Cybertron modes, but this one, in my opinion, is the best one I've seen, and I would like to see more, so who knows...

Lasbrook:
Yeah he does look alot better when he's not that blue/grey color, maybe we'll be lucky and he'll get some different paint apps? And if not then there's always the Earth Mode.

Aside from the head sculpt the robot mode doesn't really do it for me, the alt modes Peaugh showed both look pretty awesome though.

Ah who am I kidding. I'll probably end up buying this guy anyway. I caved in over protoform Starscream.

how did you get your hands on him way before anyone else

No Decepticon logo?

Try April/May. That's 6-7 months from now...

It's on the armguard on his left hand.
Bumblejazz:
So, is his only articulation in the arms and legs?

Yes, when the main line comes out, I have little to no doubt this will be in a "preview wave" like Protoform Prime & Starscream, a little something to wet our wistle for the rest of the line.

That's what I'm saying. The preview figures were released in April/May for the first movie, main line figures in June.

Touche'

Not a chance of me buying this. I don't like it.
evebird:
Thanks for the review! Guess I'm a little let down by the figure. Not really impressed with the overall design. And it appears the parts don't really fasten securely in place. Too many parts hanging off him everywhere. Just not a fan of the aesthetic I guess. Maybe it's not transformed quite correctly though. Will be curious to see the official product photos. On the plus side, the articulation looks quite good, and it definitely seems to have a "Soundwaveness" quality to it, whatever that might be. We could all argue that for hours.
Optimus747:
Awesome pics/video reviews, both of you guys! I can't wait to see more ROTF stuff now, considering how cool just the "preview" Soundwave is.
leadsled:
awesome review...but this fig is not for me
optibotimus316:
anyone notice that the chest and such of this new soundwave looks slightly familiar...
