First Review of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave

Pretty cool. Probably my favorite of the movie cybertronian/pre-earth designs that have made it into toy form so far.

That's EXACTLY what i thought of when i first saw your proper(?) transformation at the top of the page.

Looks much better properly transformed, still not wild about the overall proportions (mostly the huge wide torso), but a big improvement over my previous "yuck" opinion ~ i'll probably still pass, but it's not hideous like i first thought.

I totally agree with you he's a preview figure, i just proposed on the Ratchet thread in News and Rumors that maybe Drift and Soundwave will be Universe wave 7 so they can have a tick at the far end of the 25 year timeline...

this makes me wonder though...IF he truely is a preview figure like Prime and Screamer, do you think we'll get a preview of an Autobot as well? keep an eye out for him!

no, the chest rotates forward to reveal them. I though there were panels (and there may well be on any larger versions), but they're fixed in place.

Wow. I might just pick him up. While I respect the movie designs, I didn't rush out and buy any of the figures except for Jazz. The designs on screen are pretty intricate and don't translate to the toys. Although they have grown on me over time.

But, yeah, something about that Soundwave I really like - toes are weird, but overall I'm pleased.

Well, on first impressions from the review... He looks like a lot of fun to transform. The way everythnig slips and slides around is nice, really fits with the Cybertronian design. The head looks like a nice homage to previous Soundwave's too, which makes me happy.

That aside, he does look a little frustrating to keep in his robot mode... Just the way his torso keeps folding in on itself as you moved it looked like it could bug the hell out of ya after a while.

I'm not gonna go out of my way to get him, if I do at all, and I'd really like to see more shots of what changes he will have made towards a retail release.

Great! I heartily encourage you to watch his review since he seems so down about it. I don't know why this is turning into such a big deal, YouTube isn't a competition.

I Can't say I hate it, I definitely don't like either mode, the head is amazing...the actual movie may persuade me to buy this depending on how awesome his screen time is.

...Wait a minute, it's Soundwave; His screen time WILL be awesome!

I really dig his SOUND emitters, or maybe they are WAVE emitters.

Anywhoo, the figure looks pretty good, I can tell the arms are gonna bug me when I get it though.

I've tried to resist liking this figure. I've posted in other threads that I don't like it, but they way he looks at me with wanting eyes, I can't resist. I'm sorry, I take back anything negative I have ever said, sure he has his flaws, but I can't wait now. Thanks for the review as always.

Actually, if you watch the short little update review, you'll see that the lower panel on his back tabs in, and that whole back assembly/torso becomes MUCH more stable. It's still not perfect, but 80% better.

Great review, I quite enjoy all of them, there really good quality, and you get straight to the point. Im digging the head, and I love the designs of the movie due to its differenciation, and agile sleekness, but ill probably wait for the earth mode.

How did you even get this guy? I've been checking herro's e-bay accounts & TF08.net daily & couldn't find squat! I hope this guy is part of the "marketing push" that should be starting soon & is a preview figure.

Seeing better pics and hearing some feedback has made me more interested in this figure. Especially for 10 bucks. Thanks for making me spend money again, Peaugh.

Im fairly impressed, considering this IS a movie toy and possibly a preview figure. If the rest of the figures are this quality and better I might actuly have to buy some!

I love the picture next to Tigerhawk, that is nutty. I think it's cool that Soundwave is a) going to be a preview toy, b) in the movie at all! c) totally looks like a movie and totally looks like soundwave all at once. I cannot WAIT for this stuff to start coming out. oy do i need more shelves.

He looks cool and all, but I wonder if we'll see him with a two-pack of his obvious Cybertronian mode and his Earth mode. I'd love to know how he's going to look in Earth mode as I'm a sucker for transforming trucks.

As for the figure it looks intersting..not great not bad. I'm not a fan of the fists, but I do think the kibble when arranged as a cape looks cool...Isnt Soundwave supposed to be a sourcerer or magician or high priest in the movie?

Very nice review! Not so sure anyone noticed, but does anyone know that part of the face looks vaguely like the Decepticon insignia in a way?

Hey Peaugh, can those solarblades fold forward to form a sort of shouldercannons?

And a real shame this figure is so small, hopefully they'll release a much larger and much better colored version later.

Yeah, they can flip up over the shoulders, althought it can be hard to get them both in at a decent angle with the shoulder bits.

Nice, was afraid they could only sit in an upright position because of the previous pics.

According to that outline that liked out a while ago he was a 'priest' of some sort, but we don't know how much of that (if any!) will make it into the finished product.

I don't know man, that's a bit of a stretch. Why would anyone want to pay homage to his lamp-post mode? Why would they even have it in mind at all when designing this figure?

The insignia has been thought to look like Soundwave's head for quite a long time. That was noticed even back in the G1 days.
