EDIT: Looking at the Striker Prime packaging in that picture, there's a Hasbro logo there which isn't on the packaging for Skywarp, Vortex, Jetwing Prime and Buster Prime.
On the other hand, "Ironhide" is printed on the side, so it's apparent it's an early packaging mockup..i'm wondering if Striker Optimus is the name at all…in addition to the fact that reused Ironhide packaging may negate an indicator that Hasbro have plans for it.
And i'd guess that mold has made Hasbro a tidy profit.
I'm not sure if said profit was what resulted in new tooling on the HFTD version, or if it was planned from the onset, if the "Commander" head started with Takara rather than both, or if Takara had any involvement in the Hooks on the Leader Mold (The HFTD repaint didn't get a Takara release – right?)
All that aside…..
Compared to Hasbro releases of the mold, we know Striker Prime has:
1) A new stomach area.
2) Retooled cab parts.
3) Apparently it has the Buster gun, since the fuel tanks are missing in the (tiny!) photo.
4)It's *suspected* it has new hands
5)I'm also going to guess it has the same forearms, rear torso, as Jetwing Prime.
6)A shield may be included going by earlier teaser pics.
7)A new gun is apparently included too according to the same pictures.
8)It's apparent that it will have silver paint as well.
Some of those new or retooled parts aren't entirely unique to Striker Prime, in fact the Buster Gun isn't even unique to Jetwing Prime… but Hasbro haven't used any of them yet.
I suppose what i'm getting at here, is that compared to Hasbro releases, Striker Prime is an extensive retool, and not just replacement of existing plastic…additional plastic too.
Some people were pretty convinced there would be a Hasbro version of Buster Prime…if they didn't do that when the movie franchise was in full swing..why would they turn out a potentially even more expensive retool/variation now?
Hasbro's margins are squeezed enough that i don't know how they could find a cost effective way to throw all of what i've mentioned in 1 – 8 into a Leader Price point.
I'm not suggesting they would drop the idea of their own iteration of the toy compeltely….but all that for 45 or less…Seems unlikely to me.
DOTM toys don't necessarily stop completetly as of December…but it's apparent the line is winding down, throw in the fact this mold, albeit in it's earlier form, has been around the block twice, plus the fact that Hasbro would probably have to cut corners, or sell it for more, which may in turn mean they have to chase a retailer to take it as an exclusive…
It can't be 100% ruled out, but it does seem like a lot of work for Hasbro, for an uncertain return.
Between this and Jetwing, i wonder which is less unlikely to get a US retail release?

Hmm, this is DA-28 DOTM Takara Leader Prime?
need a clearer pic.

Oh yeah! Wheeljack= mine!!!
Batman
The Prime picture seems to just be a Buster Prime with the prototype remolded pieces.

Space case is shortpacked, this is unlikely to be as hard since it's not in an actual "wave"
LesterX
at "Mr. Cruel". I think that would've tipped off the audiences.

Damn it!!! Target exclusive's are sometimes a bitch to find!! GRRRRR!!!!

I hate how the movie model cheated. On a Nascar, there is only one window net, while the other side is just a plain window. That's the way they did it for the car,why give the bot mode doors have window nets on BOTH sides? So technically, the movie model cheats for NO REASON
Bumblethumper
yeah, that was missing from the previous photos. From the looks of things a whole door panel was missing from that last toy.
I'm still a little disappointed they apparently have to cheat with the windows.
Although looking at how the weaponised mode splits up the doors, there isn't any way to have the full doors in bot mode. I guess they had no choice.
Anguirus
All true (your whole post) but it's at least pointing out that he's actually a very minor remold of a figure that already exists. ALL of the engineering that produced RotF Prime is already a sunk cost.
