Board member Deceptigtar has gotten hold of a Deluxe Dark of the Moon Crankcase figure. He has shared a pictorial review including some insights into vehicle and robot modes:
Crankcase is police styled or undercover type Chevy SUV. He is a little smaller than most deluxe class vehicles. But from vehicle to robot he seems to get a little taller as his legs and arms extend quite a bit.In vehicle mode he has 4 wheels which allow him to roll pretty effortlessly. He also has his pinchers/slicers that can come from underneath out for an attack mode. On top of the vehicle mode he has two mech-tech ports for any styled mech-tech weapon.
The pinchers are made of that flexible soft rubber.

By Generation: – DotM Crowbar from DotM Crankcase looks pretty easy

Cripes – definitely gonna have to re-engineer this mold into Crowbar, when I pick up the new mold.

Resurrection!
No, but seriously, contrary my first post in this thread, I grew to live this guy despite his smaller size. One of the best engineered figures out of DOTM.
However, I recently had him out and the clear plastic around the dread on one side more or less disintegrated, to my horror. I managed to cobble him back together with some model glue and super glue, but I know it won't hold forever.
But in relevance to your post, when putting him back into vehicle made, it was terrifying because the arms press right against those parts on the head.

Resurrecting this thread again. I found a Crankcase of the 11121 variety yesterday at T.J. Maxx for $6.99. New mold hands along with orange lights.
I wasn't aware of the clipped hands issue when I bought my first Crankcase last year when he was initially released. I can't find him in my house right now, but I'm guessing that there's practically no chance that he's got the original hands unclipped?

I shall use my powers of necromancy to revive this thread!
Picked up this guy on deep sale, and I'm really amazed by this guy. To be honest, I don't like the movie aesthetic, I don't care that much for the movies. I saw the sale on Tuesday and after watching a review and doing a quick search at the store for the numbers to get one with the remolded hands, I picked him up.
I had the idea of repurposing him into Shrapnel, but I'm really quite impressed with this guy, he may well be my favorite movie toy. So he'll remain Crankcase.

… I'm Crankcase, and I'm COMINTOGETCHA!!!

Same here – actually got the chest to lock back into place about the same time I gave up the 1st time I tried…

Man…I thought it was just me. Getting that dudes hair in the right spot for alt mode is a bitch for me.

Glad it was of some help.
The only problem I still have with the dreads is I can never find a truly satisfactory way to stash them away in alt mode. Whichever way I do it it always feels like I'm cramming them in and then forcing one side of the vehicle to close properly. I mean it all stores away fine in the end but the parts seem to take a bit of a squishing to do it.
It's not a huge problem really though as Cranky is far better served staying in robot mode.
Valkysas
I just finally got Crankcase today, and I was HOPING there'd be some info on this, and here it was! Looking at the two red pieces, I had no idea they could come apart, and I thought the dreads were just glued in there. While I did manage to snap one red peg off during filing, it really didn't mattter since the hole on the other piece holds it in, and the fit is still tight enough that it's not going to work itself out.
Thanks a ton for this, I was really not liking him because of how the dreads were out of the box, with seemingly no way to move them. Now I love him.

Exactly!

Yeah, I was really surprised by that! Considering how the movies always go for being crass and offensive, it seemed inevitable that we'd see Decepticons flipping the bird in DOTM.

Perhaps a squared O-shaped hinge (to go over his head) could make that possible…
jametron
No, I haven't yet… but after seeing the film and discovering that you never see these "finger-blades" (not that I recall, at least) I ma even more at ease with doing so. Keeping them for movie accuracy is a non-issue for me now.
No. Not without some modding at least.

Don't have the figure yet, would it be possible to make his front bumper piece fold over on top of his shoulders – to make a mod into Crowbar possible?

Fixed hands
I got a clipped one a while back. Today I took some left over toes from a junker Ravage (this is the sixth custom I've used him for) and super glued them on to the hands. It's hard to tell from the pic (sorry, just used my cell phone) but they fit pretty well and now he's got a knuckle-claw on each. I haven't transformed him yet, but I tried flipping in his hands and everything looks like it should fit in alt mode…
ShadowStitch
After searching high and low, through at least 4 dozen crankcases at 6 different stores, I found ONE with the orange lights and fixed hands (11121) at a local Wal-Mart….just the one, in an ocean of clippies! Thanks, guys…
Gingerchris
Bummer about your broken peg – it was certainly the part of the process that I was most careful with and took the most time over, especially as I'd already read a couple of people had broken their pegs while doing the fix. Even then I was bricking it all the way. It's possible you could drill a replacent peg into the red piece.
G1Wheeljack
Thanks for posting this. I managed to do it somewhat, the pegs on the removable red piece snapped off, guess I was a bit too impatient. Still, I just removed them and while it's possible for the dreads to now come out they do move freely on mine.
Laulau
I found an unclipped one after two purshase ("10131" serie number was the right choice). Happy to have him complete. Looks more like an assassin with long claws.
And he's pretty in scale with deluxe Hironhide for the "mexican dead-end" pose
I just realise that the window where actually in clear plastic painted in black. Did anybody try to remove the paint with alcohol ? Any picts ? I want to try to remove it but I'm afraid it could just reveale ugly things underneath.
>EDIT : Ha ! forget it. I should have read the rest of the thread before. Sorry
