 | | | Combined mode for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Legends Optimus Prime and Jetfire | | Posted on 12-24-2008 at 07:56 AM by Sol Fury | | A trio of new images have been posted on TF08.net showing the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class Optimus Prime and Jetfire in a combined form. The combination has Jetfire attach to the back of Optimus Prime to provide a flight mode of sorts. Is this the combined mode of Optimus and Jetfire that was suggested some time ago or a cool additional play feature? Watch this space for further updates!

cool! i hope the big ones can do that
SilverDragon:
Wow, that is quite possibly the most phallic thing to come out of Transformers since Legion.
Jetfire18:
Did anyone notice that one reason for the neck or cockpit area on the SR-71 being too long is form the wheel that the alt mode has.
Whipdash:
My nerd-rage over this stupid combining idea is great and powerful and burns with the intensity of a thousand suns, and my disappointment in the movie will be embarrassingly vocal if it happens in the theater. Armada's fail!Jetfire is not something that needs a homage in live action form, IMO.
:|
Prime clinging to Jetfire's hull for dear life in battle and/or flying up on him to fight the Fallen? Now THAT would be awesome.
Rayzilla Prime:
I'm sure on the larger toys, I'm sure Jetfire's just gonna break apart to form battle armor for Prime. I guess this is all they could do considering the scale of the Legends firgures.
The only Legends figure that ever caught my eye was Scorponok from the first movie. Unless they can make a Legends figure for my taste, then I won't be getting any of them. I'm the type who gets all the movie characters (in respective sizes) then possibly a few that look nice. Quality > Quantity.
Slimaximus:
Yeah b/c if you think about it that combination would not even come close to working in full scale, prime is like the size of 1 wing of an SR-71 that would just look stupid
UltraMagnus2008:
Looks like Prime took his Viagra
mineraljane:
This just looks like the owner of these toys disassembled Prime's arms and replaced them with Jetfire's. Basically a fan-mode combination and not indicative of an actual film based joining of these two.

So I can't see how the combination would work in the film, unless Jetfire origamis into himself big time.
Similarly, the toy versions of these characters won't reflect scale so accurately, otherwise Jetfire would be USS Flagg sized. So either the transformation/combination will be different to the film or it just isn't happening in the film in the context people are anticipating. Perhaps this is just a combing gimmick this line of toys has, perhaps as I saw mentioned previously they can all combine with one-another, micromaster combiner stylee?
Dinobot Nuva:
Seeing as how they couldn't even transform Prime right I'm thinking there might be something more to it than this.
Dr Wheeljack:
I don't know what to think of this i am going to wait till we get CGI designs from the movie or if we see larger toy size class combined till I make up my mind if I like it.

Plus in the movie Prime's mass is cheated upwards like all the Autobots, so I'm sure they can cheat the plane downwards rapid_fire:
The big big version better combine with the original optimus prime leader class toy, cuz I aint buying a new one just to combine them!
im curious to see how they fit a giant blackbird on the back of prime in the movie, he must compress like hell!

It wasn't designed with combining in mind, and it has a ton of little bits off it that makes no amount of engineering able to make a Jetfire that can attach to him.
taterx:
Gee, that kind of suck you can't make up.
Deadend:
As I said back in the original combining topic, it's backpack style. =p
But eh, I'm still having a hard time warming up to this idea.

I hope that just part of Jetfire compines with Prime otherwise Prime will be miniscule compared to his big'ol jet pack.
Alex5:
Here's a good size comparison pic (or at least the best I could find)
I think that's a Peterbilt... one towing the forward section fuselage of a SR-71, and the other, one of the, er, thrusters from the wing.
Maybe the earlier comparison pic was slightly out, but not by too much.
And just to show the effect of perspective, and how it made that other plane on display look smaller than it should, here's the opposite
Now I'm going to go watch D.A.R.Y.L.
Geewun1:
How are the two figures even combined? Isn't it possible that someone just glued Jetfire on to Optimus Prime for the sake of feeding this discussion?

The pic has 9 Peterbilts lying on their side, on top of the Blackbird. That is feasible.

Stupid rassa frassa BAY!!
If the leader combines like the legends, that little thing on the back of the original toy could be used for the combinations.
I think that the new movie will be better on my wallet. I'm not buying ANY new versions of toys I already have, unless they're complete remoulds. Otherwise, hasbro can kiss my backside, I'z giving my cash to Lego! (Why Mata Nui a canister??? WHY???)

Yeah...
Fort Max:
I reckon the ROTF leader assortment will be the same as the first, i.e. chief goodie, chief baddie and big baddie.
The big baddie slot will merely feature Jetfire instead of Brawl this time.

Zombie Thread !!!!!!!
Sso02V:
Seriously man... why?
Bgrngod:
Wow. Aren't there already a dozen threads for this in the Toys forum?
Atlas Prime:
it's upside down
StarSaber79:
Zombie!!!!!!!!!!!
starscream1701:
It looks obscene!
clonemanager:
I wouldn't buy them. I wouldn't even want them in my collection. These transformers failed.
