G1 Soundwave's previous gig was on Sesame Street as the letter "T".

A week later and still no clear pictures. Not that I'm complaining, I'm actually quite surprised.

Farther more, what do they have to do with making sounds/noises (other than giving a silent invisible signal)? Choosing a satellite transformation for a Transformer, let alone Soundwave, is one of those WTF moments in Transformers history. What good does it do for a transformer on earth to Transform into a sattelite??? Where is the disguies or the practicality?
I know there have been some odd alt mode choices in transformers history but at least those were useful within their group and practical to transform back and forth to and fro amongst the rest of the Transformers and humans granting whatever expertise the group needed from that character. A satellite just orbits around space in the middle of nowhere isolated and all alone away from civilization. Space which is miles upon miles above civilized land... Hard to see how Soundwave could be within the ranks of the Decepticons on a mission if that's all he can turn into.
Well that's my little rant for the month. Thanks for letting me vent. | I'm guessing you have little understanding of how satellites work or what they're used for.
Or else you'd realize how fitting it is for a decepticon intelligence officer/spy to be one.
I guess he could have have been a flying saucer.
OptimusSolo:
Why the heck did they decide on him being a truck i mean for the love of god. They couldnt come up with anything more original?????
Silent_Magnus:
We still haven't seen his actual earth alt mode.
Only what a, probably old, concept idea was.

Because a communications officer would clearly never find being a satellite, with all its broadcasting/receiving power and capabilities, even remotely useful.

Soundwave would probably be more active than that.
NothingHead:
I actually kind of get what's being said here, about the silliness of a satellite earth mode. I mean, if no humans are actually going to see him, what's the point of being in disguise at all? Unless he just retains the mode of a Cybertronian satellite; that would be pretty plausible..
shroobmaster:
Cybertronian modes ain't supposed to be disguises, they're all just faster ways of transport/attack.
Soundwave, for example, in his sattelite mode can float around planets and collect data alot easier.

Or to put it another way: | I think the satellite is an awesome Cybertron alt mode for Soundwave. Fits in perfectly with the concept of the character. But I am hoping the rumor about him having a truck for his earth mode isn't true. Just seems like Soundwave's alt mode should be more..... unique.
