Not sure if this has been posted, here's a much better look

The more I see this, the more I want it.
and2ng:
Why is Optimus' head unpainted? Is this the prototype or the final product?
Ratchet2007:
Don't like the face
I prefer the mouth plate face for when I combine him with Jetfire
TacticalSamurai:
This is still a prototype and in large kanji words, it simply says "This is not the final product".
Sol Fury:
The unpainted parts are to show what has been changed from the original release. It is quite a common trend when remolded Japanese items are released - they show a painted original with unpainted areas so that the audience can see precisely what has been changed.
Z.U.D.O.N:
Hey cool!! Now Optimus has both gun and swords! Awesome!

I don't really mind the head as long as the paintjob is done right.
Thanks for posting this Samus!
ThundeR-CrackeR:
sigh* They make us purchase the first version of this figure because it is awesome ...
Then they release another version WITH a gun 6+ months later ...

It's a marketing strategy, which you should overlook. They make you buy the more ugly version first, then the nicer version comes out. And if you really are a fan, you'd get that same mold again although there's only a slight change, e.g. repaint (Premium for example) or like Buster Optimus here.
Take Voyager Megs for instance. I'm sure there's gonna be a premium repaint, or at least a better repaint later on. If I'm wrong, then sorry for getting some people's hopes up..
biscuits:
but i just bought leader prime and then they realese a picture of this!!! hopefully they will make a megatron with two arms if there remaking the figures.
fathi_haziq:
I was expecting the head to have removable faceplate like Animated Prime. Oh well, I'll still buy it just for the BFG.
Blitz.:
I like the guns.... not so keen on the rest
musozankoka: e-HOBBY SHOP/商品詳細
In the Japanese e-Hobby shopping site, it says this figure will have some silver painted parts.
AnimatedFan:
Until it's confirmed that he has the face plate, I'm not bitin'. But I'd dearly love to get my hands on TWO of those completed gun kits. (Though it looks like it's molded to work with just the right hand...)

not silver but chrome!!
one of the reason why the price is increased about 1000 yen compared to
normal version.
Backscatter:
If this is a dumb question, my apology. Why "Buster"? I'll wait to see the finished version. I like the the gun.
OMEGA PRIME12:
they should do something similar to cybertron/ galaxy force optimus prime. the 2 half's of the combat mask/visor/face plate hidden beneath each side of the cheek then it slide in to cover the mouth.

Maybe because it represents the scene where he 'busts in' to save Sam from Meg's grip.
Devastator1995:
If I was going to buy another Prime, the buster is the one I'd go for. But if that is the way he is going to look, I'm going to paint the guns silver and paint the face in silver/yellow/dark blue.
mizuki088:
Someone want to do a mod kit?
IronhidePrime:
doesn't look much clearer to me
Ravage_Eject:
Wow...I didn't know Optimus had tickets to the gun show...but man he sure has a bad plastic surgeon!

CHROME!!!
OMG!!!
Bought!
alien:
Really can't wait for~ Gosh!
doc_ianne:
I hope Buster's face should be painted much better than the original and that there's new "Sound" feature. I can't wait!
Luxor:
man i love me some big guns

Well, normally when a big gun is involved the word "Buster" automatically comes out. That's what I think. So far it's okay for this version of Prime. I can't think of a better word right now
artimus prime:
Can't really make out facial detail but i'm gonna buy it anyways so I guess details don't matter.
RedAlert Rescue:
I wish they'd taken the chance to change the steps on his legs back to the prototype design they had originally as well as add rubber tires.
They also could include a clip on face plate too.
Godziboy1993:
Why the flying fuck can't Hasbro/Takara come up with these ideas before they release the product?!

A removable Faceplate would be tits. I'm thinking that if there is no removable faceplate that I'll get one of these just for the gun and use it with my original ROTF Leader Prime combined with Jetfire. SEXY!!!!!

I agree. A removable faceplate would be the way to go and rubber tires all the way. The original movie mold has rubber tires. Why they made such a great figure this time around and slapped shitty plastic tires on it I'll never know.
SPLIT LIP:
I'm just glad we finally have a faceplateless Prime toy. They couldn't have put it on a better figure, too.
I'm just bummed I may never own it.

IT WILL ALL BE PAINTED. This is a
prototype. Don't fret, my good sir.
Astrotrain52:
Eh...no. Cool idea, but I'll stick with my first OP. Don't like the mouth.
Hopefully for TF3, they'll make an Optimus Prime that has a retractable faceplate (but if they would make it flimsy, I take it back).
dremel:
the faceplate-less optimus looks cool, but that gun is less impressive now that I can see it more clearly. Hopefully someone in radicaons will cast mold the face. I dont think id spend $50 for a new face.
grimlock1972:
okay thats has done it im holding off getting leader class prime for this one

Because originally, ROTF Prime's rear tires were meant to transform, like the movie, so they became slim on his thighs.
However, this was eliminated on the final toy, along with the finger articulation and toolboxes that could fold up more compactly.
NeoGutsman:
I for one really like the maskless Optimus Primes from the movie line and definitely Transformers Animated. Noting that, I love how both can pull up masks at will; this even led to several Autobots in Transformers Animated having masks of their own, too (Prowl, Bumblebee).
I'm definitely getting this one, especially if it comes with chrome parts and/or has Premium style redecos. I swore off repaints in general, but I love this mold way too much.
Dran0n:
I think I'll stick to my regular OP. Looks kinda cool though
Rob Almighty:
This is probably the most accurate movie prime we'll see (i'm sure they'll make one for TF3 that's more accurate, like a better way to work with the back tires), but I hope that they take greater steps to make sure that certain molds are molded with the right color (Prime's red toes??) and some paint apps are applied (headlights, blue colored metal below the headlights that appear on the gray body mold, but aren't colored, etc.).
If I see these improvements, and the option to clip on a face mask, then I'll probably buy this mold if I can peddle the first one to a friend.
Ultrawave:
Ill bite on this guy if his mouth moves when you make him play his voice clip. Kinda like the Animated Leaders like Megatron or Ultra Magnus.
Otherwise, as EPIC as that gun is, its not enough for me to buy it
They should change his voice clip to "I"ll take you ALL on!" or make it like the animated leaders and have him with multiple clips.
zark225:
This guy is defiantly awesome and cool looking but idk if I can birng myself to get another ROTF Prime. I did it with the first movie but that's because i got the premium version to paint into nemesis Prime. And people stop saying this is the final paint job this is a PROTOTYPE its colored like that to show whats new and stuff.
Autobot Burnout:
Ooooh! Good thing I'm holding off buying ROTF Prime's first release, I like big guns and I can not lie, especialy when they're movie-accurate!

My translation of the e-Hobby listing:
Quote:
Brand name: Transfomers movir RA-24 Buster Optimus Prime
Classification: preorder sale
Comment: Reserve at 20% OFF
Standard Price: 8,190 yen
Preorder Price: 6,552 yen
Buster Optimus Prime from this summer's movie "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has appeared!
Converts from truck to robot. Moving "mechalive" and lights & sound gimmicks provide lifelike play.
Mufflers can be detached and combined to form an ion blaster (cannon).
Additionally, plated parts details have been included for added splendor.
The original facial details have been modified to open face mode in this Japanese exclusive version.
Availability scheduled for release in November.
|
The plated parts would be the aforementioned chromed parts. Hopefully they fix some of the incorrectly colored parts while they're at it.
The term "buster" is not uncommon in Japanese.
Examples: Rockman's Rock Buster (or Mega Buster outside of Japan) and Wing Gundam's Buster Rifle.
It's somewhat equivalent to the English term "blaster".

This.
I spend money on molds I don't have already, thank you.
I mean as cool as this is, I can't have this on the same shelf as my other Optimus, because the shelf would

from the awesomeness!!

Alexander Quinn:
It's a neat upgrade to the figure, but I'm still holding out to see what the inevitable repaint is going to be. Personally, I'm hoping for an Ultra Magnus paint scheme or a Nemesis Prime.
Rayzilla Prime:
I'm not tempted to spend money on another Leader Prime, though this does look impressive. If the Premium version has the guns (even if the only place they attach to on the entire toy is the hands), I'm trading the one I have in.

THIS^ I say Hasbro does it (along with the guns) for the Premium version.
"Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing."
"I'll take you ALL on!"
"I rise...you fall..."
Paxtin:
You know, I told myself to wait, they're going to come out with a better one later. But did I listen? Noooooo....
It would be cool if they put a little fold out face plate on the head somehow, but I don't see them doing it.
I really don't care, as I'm not one of those "Faceplate not mouth!" type fans.
project9:
Man, that transforming gun is killer. Someone needs to repro that for those of use who don't need another Prime. =)
closetrat:
The faceplate could simply be a mod of a homemade piece of thin styrene folded & cut to shape & made to snap on...
That said, it is weak if they don't feature a mechanism to make this work.
Not sure if I'll grab this one or not - if TF3 prime comes out with articulated hands, collapsible toolboxes & compressing tires, that might be worth waiting for...
