For a ride opening, that was pretty awesome. Now they need to build one of these in Orlando.

I was told at the event yesterday that Evac would be making its debut today in the park. They were taking waiting list names. Naturally, I added mine. Coincidentally, the voice of Evac put his own name on the list just before me! Very nice guy. Big Transformers fan since he was a kid. I'll be posting an interview with him soon.

It was an amazing moment that I'm thrilled to have seen in person, front and center. I freaked out too - but kept my cool since I was there for professional press purposes. Tried to keep my inner fanboy hidden as much as possible.

Man, that was pretty awesome. Wish I could've been there. Seeing Optimus and Bumblebee roll up there would've made me smile like you wouldn't believe. And that pic of Cullen and Welker in Evac. Priceless.

And also pretty cool to hear Welker say "Decepticons, transform and rise up!"

Brent Spiner (Data) tweeted yesterday that he rode the TF ride and that it was "awesome", was he there for the grand opening?

Nope. But Universal has been inviting lots of celebrities to come out throughout the past few weeks, retweeting their praise.

Beyond Spielberg, there were really no A-listers walking the carpet. But I was thrilled to be able to chat with Welker, even if I was only given enough time for a single question and a handshake.

Despite the fact that the movies are pretty awful, you're right. Without Bay's films, this excellent ride would not exist. And there wouldn't be nearly as much mainstream TF excitement going around.

agreed, and i can't wait to go on this ride, i'll be at Universal next week and this is the FIRST ride i'll be going on. it's going to be so freakin cool!

After seeing Freddie Wong make a blog about the ride, I suddenly have the urge to go on it.

I went on the ride two weeks ago during the "testing" phase. I've been to USH several times being a SoCal resident. This ride is awesome, it exceeded my expectations, and is arguably the best ride at the theme park. I found it more enjoyable than the last two movies. Even my non-TF loving friend, a veteran of many, many parks, was impressed. Also the new King Kong part of the studio tour is cool. I highly recommend that people give USH a visit. Now, if only they had Harry Potter too....

I had a friend of mine go today and he said that Evac WASN'T in the gift shop. Not the deluxe version of him anyways.

In terms of when it takes place in continuity with the movies? It doesn't really fit in anywhere, to be honest. There's always something that's out of place no matter where you place it. But as has been said in another thread on the matter, there's not really a pressing need to fit in anywhere specific with the movies. It's a 5 minute ride meant for fun, just to basically summarize the trilogy in "ride form".

The family and I attended the ride this afternoon and loved it!! Wanted to go back for a 2nd go round, but the wait was (as you'd expect) quite lengthy. The whole experience from beginning to end is so very much worthwhile and I recommend that any Transformers fan who can make it out attend the show.

Not here to provide an in-depth review though (as it's late as I type this), but I will say to those who were wondering, Evac is not available at any of the gift shops I went to. I checked with a clerk and he said they won't have their stock in until mid-June. So... wah-wah-wah.... suckage. Of course there is plenty of other Transformers merch available (t-shirts, DOTM/Prime toys, pins/buttons, etc.), but no Evac unfortunately. Guess this means you season ticket holders and/or people who live close enough to the park to come back will be heartily benefited, but those of us who drove out specifically for the ride and secretly hoped for Evac will be kicking a can and muttering under their breath.

Morshower sure has been able to get popular, and by a semi-fluke (his name becoming the name of the General).

And seeing Optimus drive up - cool (saw him & the others @ the DC Lincoln Memorial in Oct 2010).

Glad to see Welker doing some publicity.

Probably next year Botcon will be back in CA so ill probably go to it when we get out there. Man that looks so cool. I see my heroes too haha.
