Sounds interesting, though from what we've heard about this character so far, not all that surprising. The long tongue and scanning tentacle both sound a bit too out there to be true atm, but I won't doubt it or believe it till I actually see the movie (just like a majority of what we're being told). It's kinda sad I already know there's going to be a bit of an argument in this thread, like most threads dealing with anything to do with the movie, let alone this insiders little tidbits. In the end I'm looking forward to the movie, which I hope is as enjoyable as the first one, which I enjoyed greatly.

This will be an interesting thread, no doubt. Beyond those who don't believe the TFW TF2 Insider and those who don't like the movie series, you'll have those in the thread who are split between excitement in the return of Pretenders and those who dread the Pretenders concept.

oh god no - I never liked the pretender concept and what is written in that link seems too close to the T-X in terminator 3. Seems like Bay is going into overdrive with this movie and trying to squeeze aspects of just about every transformers line going - so far we have rumours of target master-esq robots, combiners, pretenders and the original 13. For non-TF fans - I think this will all get rather confusing, especially since the back story behind the TF's hasnt really been explored properly.

Yep. Personally I don't really have any problems with Pretenders, as I didn't grow up with them. My first experience with anything Transformers was Beast Wars. However I'm not a big fan of them, so I most likely wouldn't buy any updated versions of them, in either the Universe line or the Movie line, or even Animated if they go that route with it. It all depends on how they redo them. If they do it a certain way they could actually be very interesting.

I'm not thrilled or overcome with grief over the Pretenders thing. More of just confused. Confused as to the tidbits of the Transformers world the movie folks are picking and choosing seemingly super incoherently. Seems at the least like they're introducing too much new gimmicky stuff to make much sense or relevant story surrounding why they are even there at all (combiners, no Megs, pretenders, etc.).
Also, so that scene with the thing attacking the windshield is very likely this pretender and not Ravage.

What an odd choice. I liked the toys back in the day. They were weird. I don't see how we can get a toy pretender, but who knows?

If they wanted to be as powerful as robotically possible why would they disguise themselves in the first place? Why not just a Benderish 'death to all humans'? Or why don't they just go invisible the whole time they're on earth?

In the case of Alice's disguise, it's to infiltrate the humans and get the information they want without giving them (the humans) the time to realize and organize themselves maybe?

From the reports, it was Bumblebee who sprayed the goo on her. He's apparently sensed the T&A were fake.

Bay may be throwing all those TF gimmicks into one movie and see which one sticks. If combiner is popular with fans while pretender bombs we may see another combiner in the sequel but not necessary pretender. Bay's got whole bunch of concepts to work with and he probably wants to use them all.
