Transformers Revenge of the Fallen - Soundwaves Cybertron Mode is satellite, Earth mode a pickup

It was from a few months back when the first on set pics started surfacing. We saw the Arcee bikes, and this little black ATV looking thing. Speculation was that based on the color and it having a slight cat-like appearance, that it could be Ravage. And now with this news of Soundwave possibly being a truck, that seems a lot more plausible.

That or the beast posted above could work, just so long as it's not one of those stupid Escalade EXTs.

I just realised this picture I posted looks like it's transforming!

Sort of mixed feelings.

When fans were knocking around ideas for an alt mode for Soundwave the satellite thing came up a few times so that's actually really cool it made it into the movie. Given that it sounds like it's a satellite from Cybertron that means he wouldn't have to follow the same rules as a satellite from Earth.

The pick up I'm not so sure on. When I think of things with insanely cool sound systems in them pick up trucks aren't really high on the list so I'm not sure how much a pick up is really going to say Soundwave. Then again this is the same franchise that said hey Bumblebee muscle car so what the heck am I thinking.

Robot mode is the other big question mark for me. Will he be blue or will there be some lame excuse for why Soundwave couldn't be blue. Will he have the features that make you say hey cool that's Soundwave or will he be another one of those characters where you say who's that, no really who's that?

Anyway still really cool insider news even if it does make me worry a bit.

That looks more like a car with a missing trunk lid. Anyway I see great potential in him being a truck.

Pick Up Truck = not so much

Hope we get toys of both modes, can't wait to see pics.

Certainly makes for a possible Ravage doesn't it?

Considering who is at the helm, I could see Soundwave being a sports pick up looking something like the animated version with a huge sound system and neon lights underneath, around the body and inside the truck.

This idea has potential. But then, do either the Decepticons or the Autobots have any real use for a "communications officer"? They got by fine without in the first movie.

I image Soundwave would have a rivalry of sorts with Blackout if he's still around. Just imagine setting up and fine tuning all sorts of communication relays, just to have that bastard helicopter EMP them all out of commission.

That's the one! If that's Ravage though, it doesn't match the puppet seen during filming, so maybe it's another minion. Gives me hope SW is a huge pickup truck. Look forward to seeing his Cybertronian satellite form too.

Satellite sounds cool, but pickup truck seems a bit of a letdown. Still, will reserve judgment til we see designs...

I have a hard time believing this to be true.

The satellite is an awesome alt mode for Soundwave. Fits him perfectly. Not too sure about a pick-up, though. I'll withhold judgment until I see it. A tricked out pick-up might work well.

Ravage as the trike would be awesome but if he is that puppet that is dissapointing . If the puppet is laserbeak though I dont feel so bad long as good ol laserbeaks alt mode means he can fly

Just saw the comments about Ravage possibly being a motorbike of some sort. If that's the case, Soundwave being a pickup truck in which Ravage could fit does make a certain kind of sense... interesting.

Still, 7 pages in, only one reference to "Bayformers" and no-one crying in the corner about tape decks, not bad so far...

Initially thought a pickup truck would be fail, but you guys posted some really great pictures that rid me of the stereotypical farmer truck image in my head

this is interesting, honestly while my first thoughts were "WTF ?!@$%*$(%*($" i'm going to reserve judgement and see how this all plays out. And besides I believe I remember seeing a custom movie soundwave over in the radicons forums that looked bad ass with the big old speakers, so this could be cool.

Although just the words "Pick-up Truck" are not very inspiring. Especialy for a character like Soundwave.

Maybe if they added another adjective I'd be more interested.
Examples being "Communications Pick-up Truck" or "Pimpin' Pick-up Truck"

I'm glad they are at least showing him in Satelite mode if this is true. When Starscream left earth in the first movie I always pictured Soundwave (as a Satelite) waiting on him in space. So that's cool that they are making that a reality in some way I guess?

As for the him turning into a Pick-up truck...ehh..that's kind of lame..I would have rather enjoyed him being a military vehicle of some kind. The only civilian Pick-up truck there should be is Ironhide. Maybe he's a redesigned military pick-up or something though. I remember when everyone was wondering if the Volt would be Soundwave..and I remember people being like "that's a gay idea, Soundwave shouldn't be the Volt" Well...now I'm starting to think Soundwave being the Volt doesn't sound like such a bad idea. The car is only showing up for advertising though..which is a whole 'nother can of worms to me anyways.

Cybrtron mode = cool.

Pickup doesn't sound too great but I'll not judge for now since it still could be sound related.
Satellite on the other hand is awesome, I demand a protoform Soundwave!

You know... after kicking it around for awhile... I think a pickup truck could work. Especially if it is or is close to the International that people have been posting pics of. That thing is a beast and would make a great Soundwave... and if the rumors of Ravage being the Quad from awhile back are true then this makes even more sense.

Um.... it's a rehash because Soundwave is going to be pickup? That makes no sense. How do you know it's a piece of #!%^? Have you seen the alt mode?

Umm.... Yeah. You do realize that about 4756723897854 Transformers share similar altmodes. I really hope you weren't complaining when Sideswipe was annouced and there was no immediate mention of Sunstreaker

That would be awesome. That's a really cool looking Crossover Truck.

In short, Soundwave, as long as the bot mode has some influence from G1, will be awesome. He's doesn't need to be a big and menancing. Isn't this the same dude who (in the buffonery of G1 that had all Decepticons look like losers at some point) got shot in the ass by Bluestreak and tumbled through the air? This whole "Soundwave the MENACE!" thing is annoying. He was the communications officer! I hope he's inspired by the comics version, but as far as the iconic G1 Soundwave goes, he was never a imposing badass fighter. He barely even fought aside from ejecting Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy and Lazerbeak, and the occasional situation of firing Megatron.

I'm glad he's not some tiny ass Chevy Volt. Other than a Stealth Bomber, or the Comm Vehicle I've seen several times, I can't think of a better earth mode than a sleek powerful pickup.

They could do a G1 repaint like they did with Ratchet

Of course, he has to transform into a pickup truck. Most of Bay's transformers can only transform into new vehicles that big car companies want you to buy!

Honestly, I expected him to be something stupid b/c Bay doesn't "Get" Transformers and doesn't show any respect for them. But I wish that Soundwave was something cooler like a slick custom car with giant speakers or a nice stealth fighter with "special" bombs that could turn into robots (kinda similar to how GF Soundwave has that hexagonal tube that turn into Laserbeak). I'm just waiting to see how bad his head looks...you know, what generic looking robot got the Soundwave name slapped on it...

Surprisingly, with enough money you can buy a satellite, or at least the space/orbit area to launch one into after you make it.

Sorry if this has been posted but didn't everyone want him to be the Volt? All new GM/Chevy vehicles look the same anyways so a pickup is just a bigger Volt

I'm a big Soundwave fan! A satellite I can imagine, but a pick-up truck no way.

Are we sure he'll be GM? Afterall, Barricade was Saleen, and then there's all the Constructicons - and the Audi R8 - in this film.

Sounds pretty cool... Truck mode will work for Soundwave as long as they give him at least a few physical traits that resemble his G1 counterpart. He doesn't have to be blue, but he needs the cannon on his shoulder and (hopefully) something on his chest that resembles a tape deck, sort of like Animated Soundwave.

While it sounds more like Shockwave, I could see Soundwave being a satellite. It would make sense for a spy, seeing as he could pick up on the Autobots' discussions.

As for a pickup-truck, I think I'll reserve judgement until I see pics of both his modes.

I'm ok with having two Pickup Trucks in the same continuity (especially since they're not on the same side), but two Pickup Trucks of the same color?

I'd like some more variety.

I just think for the movie it would be better to have a diverse use of alt modes....I don't mind it for the toys at all...or the Toon..I just don't want to see the movie and go is that Ironhide or Soundwave..and I hope the don't use the same types of Transformations...I know that BB Baricade and Jazz were all "sports cars" but they were very different in style from one another. Just hope they keep things seperate and don't get lazy...Like using similar riggs for transforming similar alt modes i.e. using Ironhides rig on Soundwave...I dunno.....I just wanted to see many different vehicles that's all.
