A double-whammy of news comes to us with regards to the performance of Transformers Age of Extinction. There is a lot of excited buzz over both the movie and director Michael Bay hitting some key milestones.
Transformers: Age of Extinction, it has been reported, has overtaken James Cameron’s Avatar to become the biggest grossing movie in China, ever! This figure is slightly disputed – some sources claim the milestone was hit on Sunday, while the tally others are keeping suggests the movie came close but has not quite surpassed Avatar at that time. In either case, it is an incredible achievement for the fourth live-action big screen outing of the Transformers! Credit for this news item goes to Hollywood Reporter.
Transformers: Age of Extinction now the highest grossing movie ever in ChinaTransformers: Age of Extinction continues to perform strongly at the US box office and has earned an impressive $180,166,140 as of July 7th, 2014. Box Office Mojo also reports that international takings add up to $412,000,000, with more than half of that figure coming from China. As you might see from their chart, though, some figures have not yet been updated for the past weekend, and crucially some of the European opening weekends, such as the UK, are not yet represented. Of note is that Deadline reports Transformers: Age of Extinction has the third greatest opening in Korea, but that the movie there is performing slightly less strongly than Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Last but by no means least, Transformers: Age of Extinction marks an important milestone in the career of its director Michael Bay. The film’s gross over the weekend has seen Michael Bay overtake Robert Zemeckis to become the second highest grossing director of all time, right behind Transformers live action movie series executive producer Steven Speilberg. Check out the full announcement on Michael Bay’s official website.
Congratulations from all of us here at TFW2005 to Michael Bay and the crew who made Transformers: Age of Extinction possible!

While I agree with you wholeheartedly, there's not much we can do to stop more of them from happening. Money controls the world.

Yeah. Us true transformers fans know that unless you bitch endlessly about the things you don't like and denounce others for liking them, you're an outsider in the franchise.
Posers.
I bet none of you have even read kissplayers before.

It has previews in some countries (UK, Brazil, some SA countries) but it's only officially released in Asia, Australia plus Russia.

So what countries has it NOT premiered in yet ? By my count I have pretty much all of Europe, South American, Mexico and Central America, Canada, Japan (this is a big one!), Africa, Middle East, etc…
Any others ?
Hot Shot.
Haven't seen that thrown around in a while.

Also the first 3 films pretty much gave the films it's own audience, it's never going to do as well as ROTF did because the only people who will see it are people who have seen the first 3. barring a few new people and some kids here and there.
Hence they have went global with the marketing side of things, they can make more over sea's now, they know they can, why advertise a lot in the USA to the same people over and over when you can advertise to the whole of china? xD
charles_242
I agree. They still have two chances to make better stories for the next movies in the trilogy. If the next fails like ROTF story, they probably change Ehren by someone else.

Really sad this trend of bad Transformers movies is continuing.

Yes…success and failure are opposites. Glad you figured that out

Good way to get people to not like you.

Yes I was talking about Japan. I actually alternate my time betweenbjapan and Australia where I attended college. I can tell u that the added western perspective makes the quirks of Japanese market very clear
Also doraemon is a national treasure but I am sad to say tf is probably viewed as "that robot franchise" by the mainstream. It saddens me cos I love tf as much as doraemon lol

Lucas didn't direct Jedi and Empire. He did direct Episodes I – IV, though we all know that they weren't done in that order, and thus not consecutively

Peter Jackson with the Hobbits & TLOTR. Lucas with Star Wars episode 1-6.
