Dallas News is reporting Transformers 4 will be filmed in Texas. This is no surprise since Jack Reynor‘s character is a Texas racing driver. The site also reveals some tiny tidbits.
“No plot has been released for the film, but Mark Wahlberg will star along with Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz. The home of Wahlberg’s good-guy character will be a farmhouse in Pflugerville. Bay has previously said the film will take a different direction with many new actors. The Austin Film Commission confirmed three to four weeks of filming in the small towns of Lockhart, Taylor, Elgin and Pflugerville.
A large Austin production office opened in March, but location scouting dates to November. There was initial interest in the Circuit of the Americas racetrack southeast of Austin, but instead the Austin Film Commission says the focus is on small towns that remind Bay of Robert Frank’s 1950s photos collected in the classic book The Americans.
In Taylor, 30 minutes from Austin, a police chase will close downtown and a railroad overpass, said Deby Lannen, the city’s Main Street program manager. A car will be exploded in the city’s Robinson Park. “It’s pretty exciting,” she said.
Lockhart’s Caldwell County Courthouse square will be another filming location, with Taylor and Lockhart combined into one fictional town on screen. Robots will chase down the good guys throughout Central Texas including in Elgin.”
So, who’s the Police Car going to be? Prowl? Barricade (No, wait.. he’s dead. Oh well!)? Some other Robot or just an ordinary Cop Car? You guess…

Austin here, Pflugerville is about 5 mins away from me. Gonna have to get the dates for this and check it out

There are a lot of people assuming that "police chase" = a Transformers cop car, or that a Transformer in alt-mode is even involved.

I just wish Bay would say he's done and then Nolan et al actually do it. Then people will say it doesn't suck because it is actually a half decent film by a talented creative team and not embarrassing tripe from a halfwitted egotist.
Anyway, the cop car will be called prowl by fans until its known that his real name is Donut, who has mirror shades and an energon nightstick. Oh yes, and he has a big fat arse.
Lol at "a car is exploded". Lets get the important stuff done first, right?
Blow everything up then back to the editing studio for cocktails. *high five*

So you don't want a boosted economy?
I kind of wish that Bay will say he's done, then announce that Christopher Nolan or James Cameron will direct a Transformers movie, when in actuality it's still Bay. Then everyone will say how amazing the movie is just because a director they like is attached to it. Bay would then announce that he was the director and everyone will suddenly claim the movie sucked.
saberconvoy
yea because we really need that crap from a film maker who brings disgrace to anything he makes.

I read that over four times and still can't understand why filming in Texas kills the movie for you.

Prowl or Red Alert could be a cop car?
TX there's a lot of wide open road here for a car chase.

Oh I forgot! We need colorful transformers! No more grey. Their planet is grey, their ships are grey, they are grey, boring! And no more protoform robots! Did I mention give them colors?

Both of you are wrong it's hard to spot but after his leg Is blown off during the part where the protos leg is blown off you can see a few humans shooting at his head before it cuts to the next scene which most likely means he got his head shot until he died

Texas? Great, I was looking forward to this movie. Now, not so much.
Before anyone gives me a hard time about that comment… I live in Texas. However, giving me a hard time about looking forward to a Michael Bay movie is justified. Hey, I like kaboomey explosions, I can't help it.
Actually, I guess Texas isn't a bad place for the movie. There's ridiculous amounts of NOTHING to… oh wait.
Well, it's near something. Of course, 30 minutes from Austin could still be on the outskirts of nowhere. I can't say, I don't live around there… though the in-laws are near Austin… and they're… not in the middle of nowhere, but they're on the outskirts.
Fallout
this, or at least pull a beast wars and make the decepticons and autobots both have their fair share of inhumanoid bots in addition to humanoid. i mean… a decepticon with a normal face, or a chicken-legged autobot would be a welcome change.

Believe it or not, but I'd rather we got Defensor over Prowl.
INTENSS
Count me in as another one hoping for an appearance of Prowl.

Actually in DOTM, we don't see Barricade die. He's shot at and falls behind a car, soooo….
But seriously, I'm not Bay bashing here at all. I like him. But can the Decepticons look like the Autobots and not like the "Predators", or like they come from a different planet?? I was pumped when they were making DOTM, to see those 3 dreads, until I saw what they looked like in robot form.
Please, no more sharp toothed, drooling, walk on all fours, dumb talking Decepticons.

I would never had guessed "Pflugerville" would be the name of a Texas town.
I wonder who the cop car(s) is/are. For some reason I'm half expecting a scene like in JJ Abram's Star Trek (i.e. the cops are human, or well, not really anyone exciting).

I hope they make a King of the Hill Reference. Like blowing up a propane station.

As a Dallas native I'm glad Texas is getting some love. Definitely looking forward to this!
