Transformers 4 - Shia, Rosie, Tyrese & Josh Duhamel not returning

Here's the latest buzz on Transformers 4. E! Online is reporting that while Michael Bay may be returning, several actors including Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Shia Labeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are not. Speaking to Josh Duhamel at a launch event for the Playstation Vita, Josh stated that he does not know that any of the leading players are doing this new instalment in the live action movie series. In his own words,

"I haven't heard anything about it. They haven't called me."

This may change of course - Transformers 4 is still over two years away so must be very much in the very earliest stages. Casting / recalls may simply not have taken place yet.

Although it is also a real possibility with the word that this will be a "reimagining" there might be a complete change of the cast.

More news will be posted here as it reaches us.

How about no human beings at all? People say shit like "humans just get in the way" about all TF fiction, but here it really is true. The movies I understand being live action have to focus on human actors, otherwise there is no real point to it being live action, but would it kill them to characterize the TFs as more than cold blooded killing machines?

A couple of days after an official (and confusing) announcement was made about a sequel/reboot happening that's still around 2.5 years away... no kidding the cast have no idea what is or isn't going on yet.

Funny how much "news" is being manufactured just for the sake of it.

Any live-action TF movie that occurs on Earth will inevitably need some humans. Creating purely CGI backgrounds and environments for a whole movie would be time-consuming and extremely costly, especially if they wanted to keep the photo-realistic approach they've used so far in the Bayverse.

As Transformers: Prime i think is proving quite admirably, humans are fantastic additions to a cast when done right. No doubt some will disagree with me, but i think they please most people. The G1 human cast was also likeable i think.

Sad Epps is gone. Would've liked to see Rosie back considering how enthusiastic she was. Not too heartbroken over Lennox.

Honestly I have no problem seeing Josh Duhamel and Tyrese come back. Their characters are the only ones that don't make me cringe at all when they're on screen.

Too early for them to say. I kinda want Epps and Lennox back, though, they were two of my favorite humans even if Epps didn't actually do a whole lot (he had some of the best lines, though).

Eh, if the movies have done one thing right above all else, it's that the human sidekicks/focal characters aren't kids. That means they have the ability to see past the whole "OMG GIANT ALIEN TRANSFORMING ROBOTS HOLY CRAP SO AWESOME!!!!!1!" factor all little kids in the shows seem to have.

This. And my money's on Dwayne Johnson. He's starring in GI Joe 2 (Hasbro/Paramount) and he's in Michael Bay's Pain and Gain. Er go, vis a vis, Dwayne Johnson in TF4. Not saying I do or don't like it but the writing is on the wall.

There's no proof they won't. Gibson would likely come back if asked because he seemed to enjoy being in the movies. Duhamel I'm less sure of....

The only thing for certain is that many people are jumping the gun big time with this film and what it's going to be about and who they'll have in it.

There's no evidence to suggest Bay/Spielberg/whoever is at the stage of casting or worrying about actors. It doesn't sound to me like they have a definite story idea in mind, let alone a cast of characters.

Well of fucking course they don't know if they're coming back. There isn't even a goddamn script yet! The movie is just confirmed... it's not even in production yet. The Actors havn't been approached yet.
