This is TFW2005 Coverage Of UBS Best Of Americas 2012 Conference; where plans for Transformers 4 was officially revealed by Hasbro including a Placeholder Logo.
  • Transformers 4 Revealed
  • Origin of Transformers: Rescuebots
  • Future of the Transformers Brand
  • Öand more.

You can read all about it and take a look at few images, after the jump. Enjoy!

Brian Goldner; President and Chief Executive Officer and Deborah Thomas represented Hasbro at the UBS Best Of Americas 2012 Conference.

Mr. Goldner started off with a video showcasing Hasbro brands including The Hub. Explains Hasbro brands and moved on straight to Transformers.

He stated that they planned to reinvent Transformers after year 2000. Around that time they created a brand blueprint around Transformers; Movies, TV, Games and Licensing.

Brian went onto Financial Stuff. But the Transformers 4 talk was yet to come.

Botshots and Kre-O, both were mentioned under Gamification of Hasbro brands; wanted to take Hasbro games away from being just Board Games.

Merchandising related to Transformers: Prime and Rescue Bots will grow.

Transformers 4 is set to release in 2014. Also, Stretch Armstrong will have a movie series as well as a TV series in 2014. Brian said people are asking about Transformers 4 and Hasbro plans for 2013.

Q&A session started with Brian and Deborah Thomas answering.

Ooh, someone asked why US sales are down? Brian said International sales are good but is trying their best to market Hasbro products in US and Canada.

About Hub? Hasbro owns the rights but Hasbro Studios is creating the content and sending to Hub and other TV Stations to other countries. Other stations pay licensing fees.

Transformers 3 didnít meet expectations. What about Transformers 4?
Brian says TF3 did well in boxoffice. Regarding toy sales... itís because of same characters in all three movies. This is why Transformers 4 will have a new cast of [robot] characters and it will be a story revolving around these new characters. Brian said Transformers will branch out to more categories. For example; during Transformers 3, they had an idea to expand the Transformers brand on Little Kids segment. This was the origin of Rescuebots said Mr. Goldner. Soon the idea took a separate life and evolved to a separate toyline. He said itís normal for any brand to experience the situation (what happened to Transformers 3 toyline) and stated that brands need re-imagining, reinvent and hinted that the same is to happen with Transformers 4.

Stretch Armstrong? Really??

"Transformers 4 is set to release in 2014. Also, Stretch Armstrong will have a movie series as well as a TV series in 2014. Brian said people are asking about Transformers 4 and Hasbro plans for 2013."
rxlthunder
Reinventing the brand would be muuuch easier if they just focused on TV shows which would allow for a muuuch wider variety of characters than a movie.

I can see Ouija working somehow...

Low sales due to no new characters, huh? How insightful, maybe next time try releasing a toyline that isn't 50% Bumblebee and Optimus.

So what was revealed?

That maybe they'll dial back on Bumblebee toys.

Finally, they get that the constant remaking/repainting/repacking of the same half dozen characters is what's been killing their sales. I hope that they will apply this knowledge to the prime line.

New cast for Transformers 4? As in, new robot cast?

This could either be really really good, or, well, not
noblekale
Stretch Armstrong: The Movie
Director: Michael Bay
The bad news: Half the movie is a giant "pull my finger" joke.
The worse news: The other half involves Jason Mewes wondering if Stretch really CAN stretch everything to enormous proportions.

Yes. New Robots.
AutoCon2076
I would love to see Transformers 4 revolve around DECEPTICONS and their side of the story. Hasbro wants a new angle for their franchise? Start giving the Decepticons some of the spotlight. I support the Stunticons for Transformers 4.

biscuits
Star Sabre VS Deathsaurus in TF4 or GTFO

So, IDW MTMTE adaption maybe?

Well, considering the post-apocalyptic genre seems to be going in full swing, a movie in similar style to All Hail Megatron might actually be pretty good.
Autobot Optimus
Someone should have asked Hasbro how they feel about 3rd parties handling their brand and characters in better ways than they do anymore.
bossprime
Disappointed there's no news on a 4 inch mask line... one day!

finally, some news on tf4! I'LL LIVE!!! I'LLL LIVE!!

EXACTLY!!!

Anybody remember the 2002 MOTU/He-Man failure? A "Hero Case" consisting of six of the same He-Man and one each of two other good guys and a "Villain Case" consisting of six of the same Skeletors and one each of two other bad guys. Followed by the toy line and cartoon being cancelled due to poor toys sales.

I guess they can't see the forest for the trees. Sigh.
Omegatron45
Maybe their US sales would do better if they released the same figures here as the rest of the world.
Stardust262
Dare I say, may we actually get a toy line without Optimus and Bumblebee?

Pfft! That was hilarious!

There must ALWAYS be and Optimus and Bumblebee! >.>

As far as I am concerned, the DOTM line failed because it sucked ass. It had nothing to do with it being the same characters. And, isn't that the approach they are taking with Prime?

My prediction for 2014..... a wall of $20 deluxe Bumblebee's.
MetalSymphony
Hmm, so i take it "Transformers 4" will ether be out of Continuity with the previous three movies, or will be, but will keep any ties to a minimum.

I kind of want to see a Live action version of Masterforce come of this now XD.
Barricade24
Interesting. But there are still some figures from DOTM I wanted to see made. Although I can probably kiss those goodbye. But I'm curious to see how this "new robot cast" is going to work out.
Blitz.
I wont tottally blame Hasbro for the toy line sucking big retailers wanted to buy the stock for less and the only way to do that was to play it safe (hence the sea of Bumblebee) and slim down case numbers.

Now Hasbro could have told them to suck a d**k and put out the movie knowing the kids will demand the toys and ultimately one store would crack leading to the others trying to catch up

As for the new robot cast I'd put money on BB and Prime still being around and apart from say ratchet the others were A. never really developed B. dead or C. total crap
Aernaroth
Ahahah 1986-movie style massacre of the old cast in the first act, here we go!
Nightrain
I'm tempted to say Brian Goldner is full of shit. Hasbro had seemingly little to do with the movies in first place. They would just make whatever Bay and company came up with. I don't see any reason why that would change.

Hey, maybe it's about time Hot Rod and his gang ought to take over.

"Transformers 3 didn’t meet expectations. What about Transformers 4?"

"Brian says TF3 did well in boxoffice"

I don't think that was refering to box-office sales.
Pencoin
This sounds like bullshit lies to me.
1. No way TF4 is going to be Optimus or Bumblebeeless unless some people grew some balls.
2. How can international (Unless the just mean Asian) sales be up? We hardly get anything here, distribution is crap and that's just UK. I imagine Europe to be even worse.
3. If 'old' characters don't sell than why was DOTM Voyager Sentinel one of the biggest shelfwarmers? Why do they keep making Bumblebees? Or is just a slow reaction - they do plan toylines 2/3 years in advance (apparently).

No
effing
sh*t.

How many of us have been saying that? (Only to be told by the White Knights that we aren't smart enough or it isn't our place to comment as such)

All new characters, huh? If that's true, then every single argument about how Megatron is going to come back for TF4 just got shut down. Personally, I hope it ends up being something akin to what "The Bourne Legacy" is in relation to "The Borne Ultimatum"; a side story set in the same time period but following different characters during the events of the main film.

And I love how it seem Hasbro only JUST NOW realizes that putting Bumblebee into every single release that they can put him in may not be the best idea.

Good call. I can totally see this will be it. Even Bay once hinted your theory.

Or an attempt to retcon the Movieverse into the Aligned Continuity.

HAS did say that new media from this point on was all going to be aligned continuity.
Aernaroth
Another option is that since essentially every character we've seen so far besides the human cast, optimus prime, and bumblebee is either dead or already in a background role, that they keep Optimus and Bumblebee and just add in new robits, meaning the human cast change is the only major difference between past movies and this one.

Explains Rescuebots. Brian did mention Rescuebots started out as a part of the Movie series before having a separate series. If this was a part of the TF4 plan; then what you say is accurate.

If the proejct is part of an older continuity then that tf media is not aligned, look aligned begun in 2010, and yet it didnt affected DOTM or any other tf continuity. also bay said this film is set in the same universe as the past 3 films. no retcon, no reboot.
MechaV
God help us.
Grimlock_13
You know, I've always understood Hasbro's strategy for all the Bumblebees, even if it didn't seem like it was working and frustrated me to no end...but damn it would be nice if that was true and they finally realize flooding shelves with nothing but Bumblebees ISN'T going to make them money. Hell, they can still put a Bumblebee in every case of deluxes, just don't put him in there at a ratio of 6:8 toys or whatever.
HeroicC300
With luck, this will mean Fing Prowl and Magnus!

Big vehicles in 4 or GTFO.
PcPrime23
Watch by new characters they mean a new Optimus, Megatron, Ironhide, Starscream, etc. TF4 could be a reboot.
