Superhero Hype brings word that a fourth installment in the CGI spectacular that is the live action Transformers movies is allegedly in the works for 2014. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura at an event for G.I. Joe Retaliation stated:
We’ll be there in the summer of 2014He also commented on how they can possibly follow on from the ending of Dark of the Moon, which left several major characters on the scrapheap – namely, it will be a partial reboot / sidestory, which is its own entity but set in the same universe:
“Again, we’re going to try to do a hybrid there where there will be some characters that come forward–we think, we’re still in the process of figuring it out–and some characters that don’t, but it will definitely be a different story.”Update: More info pouring-in thanks to various sources. Michael Bay Is Returning.
“Yeah Michael’s gonna direct and it’ll be releasing in the summer of 2014. We’re excited and I think the challenge there is we really are gonna do a reboot, and what that’s gonna be we don’t even know yet.” “But the truth is, it’s gonna be a whole new story. The characters that would certainly come along would be Optimus and Bumblebee I’m sure.”Thanks to MTV we have a video of the interview. But the video is region locked. Check the video after the break.
Update 2: Director Michael Bay commented on the situation.
“To clarify uninformed reports coming out of Toy Fair – Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re imagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I’m excited about where it’s headed. But first I’m doing a small $20 million dollar edgy black comedy of a true crime story set in Miami called “Pain and Gain,” staring Mark Wahlberg and Dwanye Johnson, and very close to signing on a couple other great actors. I’m extremely excited to simplify my film career this spring with a great character piece. That starts filming at the end of March. I might then jump onto a very cool television show my company Platinum Dunes is selling to a major cable network. It might be my first pilot I might potentially direct. We are still working out the details of the deal.
-Michael-“
2014 is of course also the 30th Anniversary of Transformers – so how cool would a new live action movie be in addition to whatever else is planned for the inevitable 30th anniversary toyline?

Spoiler tags, man! Gosh!

Wait – Christmas is coming??? Why didn't anyone tell me of this important news? This should be front-paged immediately!
People with secret news should keep it to themselves if they're not actually going to tell the secret news right away. And if they can't tell it yet for some reason then they shouldn't be all 'News coming soon!'. Heck, I can say 'News coming soon!' too. News will come soon anyway, even if I actually do know any secret news or not.
It's like making an Inspirational Posters thread and then not actually starting it off with a poster of their own.
Ephland
Hey, if you're feeling froggy – jump. But saying "there's news coming!" is like saying "Christmas is coming!" It's kind of obvious, and doesn't really need mentioning.
Krueger
But we know that Bay is shooting Pain & Gain soon, too. So he's going to be shooting three films this year, carried over to next year? I really doubt anyone, even Bay, could handle that.
TheLastPrime
I know what you would RATHER like, but I wanted to check in to the thread, that's all………Can't I do that? Lol
TheLastPrime
Lol don't believe anything Bay says to the public, They are indeed making 4 & 5 back to back shooting starts very soon, even sooner then I was expecting so I will have some good news for you guys shortly
Incepticon
Unless that other rumor turns out to be true that said they're considering filming TF4 and TF5 simultaneously. That's what was buzzing around various entertainment sites a couple months back anyway.
I think that would be the smartest way to go about it since randomly dropped in fourth movies usually look & feel like randomly dropped in fourth movies, it's a an all inclusive "one more time – go out with a bang" project for Bay that gets him two more movies for the time & stress of one that frees up his directing schedule and allows him to finally move on, and it guarantees the studios, fans, etc. two years/movies worth of officially wrapping up this Bay version of the franchise.
herugrim
Both excellent years for me You know, one man's trash and all…
Anyways rumor or not I'm looking forward to it. Though hopefully we get something other then Optimus and Bumblebee from the line. Prime, for me, is a total tank. Only things I have to look forward to until the next film are whatever comes from the new generations line, which won't be much I'm sure.
eagc7
we have to see if TF4 is succes aswell cause TF4 is only beign made due to the success of DOTM. but what i meant is that thelastprime said that tf4 and 5 would be made back to back, but bay confirmed he only signed to make TF4 ONLY (as of now), which means TF4 and 5 wont be made back to back
bellpeppers
I don't think we have enough armchair experts of the film industry in here.
OmegaPrime22
I think its safe to say it will happen though, just watch paramount flash a big check at bay and hell do another trilogy.
Ephland
While we are all very appreciative of your efforts, we would all just rather hear the news rather than be told there is news coming.
eagc7
Yep, bay signed for TF4 only, he never said that he signed for a fifth TF film
Krueger
To be fair, no one has said anything about TF5. Bay even made clear that, whilst he has signed on for two films with Paramount, only one is a Transformers film. Obviously we know the other is Pain & Gain.
Anyway, what's this other news?
TheLastPrime
Lol that's okay, People will remember again, when I posted about 4 & 5 nobody believed me, I told you guys it would be official soon lol
daformer
To me it seems that everyone forgot about you. But i appreciate ya time to tell us whats going on haha.
Shizuka
Woah dude, The Na'vi or whatever they're called are human in nature though. They aren't "machines". How much characterisations did the Terminators get for example?
TheLastPrime
Got news for you guys very soon
Krueger
I do agree. However, what I meant was that they would maybe go for someone who they can be sure will end up making a cardboard-copy of a Bay film, because it’s a winning formula, rather than they’re own thing. A director like Bay would want to do his own thing, but Paramount might be a bit apprehensive to allow anything else other than a Michael Bay-styled Transformers film. So there’s a fair possibility they'll just go for some director with no spine who will just do everything they ask him to. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Christopher Lloyd would make an awesome Wheeljack! & a cool plot could be about Wheeljack building a Time Machine & everything that could possibly go wrong w/ that… I actually have that as an open plot thread in my comic. Wheeljack has a T.A.R.D.I.S. he doesn't remember making.
