Transformers 3 Location Update: Space Coast, Florida (Update)

Space Coast, Florida updated their Twitter account to let us in on an upcoming shooting for Transformers 3.

"Transformers 3 to film on Florida's Space Coast! Filming to begin September 2010!"

As we all know, this is where the Kennedy Space Center is.

UPDATE: Got the confirmation from the Kennedy Space Center that it will be the main location for the TF3 Shooting.

Brevard County Film Commissioner Bonnie King tells Central Florida on Demand that filming will last about 8 days in early September. She says location scouts have visited the area for 2-3 days at a time, looking at other areas to shoot. Those include Patrick Air Force Base, Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Merritt Island Airport, Lone Cabbage Fish Camp in Cocoa, and a Cocoa beach house. Scouts also checked out some swamps and went into the woods.

Transformers 3 producers will be looking to cast extras from Florida's Space Coast as well.

This could mean a number of things, although being that a whole lotta rockets are launched in that area makes me think Optimus is gonna get strapped to a really large rocket, possibly an old Saturn V model.

I'd love to see Omega Supreme as a NASA crawler transport vehicle. Isn't the final shuttle launch slated for September? Hmm...

EDIT: Discovery's last launch (second to last overall) is scheduled for September 16th. Could be a small unit filming with some TF3 vehicles in the foreground or something during "pick-up" shooting.

If that ends up being the case,then how is that good? If anything Transformers 3 should have more Transformers screen time wether they are duking it out or are standing around talking to others or between their selves.

I'd be happy with a Robot fight at kennedy space center.

I mean Astrotrain or Omega Supreme are possibilitys. But just to avoid disappointment: This information just says they will be filming at space coast.

So some actor shots from the command center. (keeps the humans away from the action mech fans) And some explosions around the launch site. To be filled in with CGI robots later.

Its a decent 80s style final battle location. Thumbs up.

Here's an old sketch of a Crawler/Shuttle movie concept I did.

Might see a fight between Omega and perhaps a Supercarrier bot (Tidal Wave).
It is on the coast after all.

I'm not getting too excited. Wether this means Bay will do a homage to Astrotrain, Omega or Sky Lynx - he'll completely eff it up like he did Devastator. What a waste of a concept. Seriously! Can you believe that was the Devastator we got onscreen? Could have been so amazing and it was a non-event, that devastated nothing except eating sand and breaking some 3,000 year old masonry.

After TF2's suckitude, I have no faith in Bay - but I still hope smarter people steer him right.

With the whole “GO Home Autobot” graffiti and the fact that they are filming near NASA, I think TF3 could have recycled some story ideas from a old G1 episode “Megatron's Master Plan”

Been wondering the same thing, and as good as that episode is to me i hope its not a rehash of it for TF3

Given how Bay TF's usually look, Sky Lynx would work best in my opinion. I'd love to see an Omega Supreme, but after seeing Devastator, I just don't think we'll see a robot that big in human proportions in the movies.

I'm at Kennedy Space Center right now waiting for Atlantis's launch today (anyone else joining the festivities?).

I saw a helicopter circling around here a while ago, flying sorta low, but that's probably useless info to y'all. Most likely just some sort of observation chopper (it looked just like the TF1 Sector 7 choppers, only red with a white stripe on the tail).
