Transformers 3 Detroit Filming Details - Set Images, 60s Era And A JetTrain Rumor

Quite a lot of details are pouring in from Detroit regarding Transformers 3 Filming.

First of all, Actors Tyrese Gibson and Lester Speight (Epps and Hardcore Eddie respectively) updated their Twitter Accounts saying that they have arrived there safely and now working hard for Transformers 3.
Tyrese Gibson did more than that though, he posted an image of what’s filming right now. Apparently he’s inside a car with shattered front windows (Click on the Title Bar to see).

More news came from Members of Shoot For The Edit Forums where they said…
“All she was told was that the scenes were from the '60s and she would be fitted into clothing from that era.”

To confirm that matter, Washington Examiner has an article saying…
“The Walter E. Washington Convention Center will be used for some of the filming, a source tell us, and a number of scenes will be filmed around the National Mall and monument areas. DAR Constitution Hall and the Red Cross building also will have cameos.
"Both of those locations are used to double as the White House," explained Josh Friedman, communications director of D.C.'s Office of Motion Picture and Television Development. The Red Cross building generally is used for exterior "White House" shots, while DAR Constitution Hall is used for its interior.”

This brings us to a memory... The Rumored Transformers 3 Opening Scene.

Now, Thanks to TFW2005 Board Member ARIQ and TFLAM Blog we have a gallery of Images showing Optimus Prime, The NASCAR Wreckers, Ferrari 458 Italia, Sideswipe, 4 Decepticon Suburbans and here’s the interesting bit… Remember the Giant Jet Engine News few days back? A fan who was there at the set had told TFLAMB…
“Well, the set has changed slightly; now the large black weapon/jet/whatever is situated under the train section in the plant (hard to tell in the pic due to the angle, but one of the "engine" sections can be seen in the right edge of the first photo, just over the top of the fence/pallets). I saw them putting it in place with a crane yesterday. The black GM "government" SUVs are here; one can be seen just beyond Prime's trailer in the second pic. Most importantly, Michael Bay is here! I got a chance to meet him while he and some crew were walking the perimeter of the set, blocking/framing some shots. He was really cool and stopped to take a picture with me.”

Remember there is no confirmation about this Train+Jet “thingy” other than that report. But you guys are free to Speculate.

Wait, what? That's certainly an autobot trailer, but the cab doesn't feature the regular movie prime color scheme. In fact, it looks to be a different cab altogether. How far should i read into this? Hmmm....

I'd take a new version of payload redesigned to have the stick out shaft fold out.
I really would like a new one actually, really liked the design but it was horribly flawed and mine fell apart too.

However, i'd bet the movie definition of triple changer will be Robot/Earth Vehicle/Earth vehicle with Robot Bits sticking out.

Still, if it looks awsome (the Wreckers certainly do) then i'm all up for it.

I just got home from the Detroit Packard Plant. I wasn't able to see too much of the set. Security wouldn't allow me to stand around or take pics but I was able to get some pics of Prime, the Decepticon SUVs, as well as the Decpticon armored truck.

As I pointed out in the original thread, and I think it's pretty interesting...

.... The Decepticon Suburbans have DIFFERENT license plates. Which means one of three things (IMO)....

1.) Different characters, copies of one another, like drones with earth modes.

2.) "Arcee" IDEA part deux: Different vehicles, one character mind, ONE character. (my money is on Soundwave)

3.) Directing Fail. Same character for each vehicle, each used for a different stunt, with the risk of continuity errors.

The SUVs had U.S. Government license plates. A security guard from a local business stated, I couldn't take pictures of them because of they were "government vehicles." I corrected him stating that they were movie props. But he insisted I stop taking pics.

Shipley - I was in a fenced in parking lot of what I think was a food-bank. Being that it was fenced in, I asked permission to be on the property to take pictures through their fence. But once I started to take pics of the SUVs the guard didn't want to take a chance of getting into trouble.

But how much CGI would astro Train need to transform and the money and to think this would be ready for next summer i highly doubt it be ready for summer maybe summer 2012.

When did they say this? The last thing I remember them saying about triple changers was that they weren't doing them in the films.

Will be interesting to see if they try, though.

I cant remember where, but I do remember that a reason why Soundwave was given a "third mode" in the ROTF toyline was because Hasbro wanted tehre to be Triple Changers in TF3, and that was a way to ease the concept into that continuity

PS I wrote "third mode" in quota marks because it's not very different to the other mode anyway

I never said it was confirmed,but when it was first reported that they were filming at the space coast place,2 things went through my head.first,they need decepticons seeing as how the autobots outnumbered them so far in the news like 8 to 2.secondly,what would be the best decepticon that has to do with space and would be a big help to megatron.

Those thoughts went through my head,and now that people are seeing what appears to be a train on the set,who on the decepticons side is a train?I never said it was confirmed,but its looking really good.

Yeah, but his was still a cybertronain tripple changer, so it was a lot easier to get around the design then figureing out how to get one earth vehicle to shift to another earth vehicle, and a robot.

In CGI, it's probably possible, cause you could cheat a lot. The problem, I would think, comes up when you try and do that in toy form.

I think we all might be jumping the gun with this astro train thing...I don't think people should be getting their hopes up. I wonder what it is though, the first thing that came to my mind was a ship for the autobots or the decepticons. There have been small rumors that the autobots are getting a ship. But idk...we have to wait for more info.

And That chevy Impala just screams dead end. I really wish they would use him. But I have a feeling its not gonna happen

I went back to Packard Plant and Michigan Central Station. I didn't see as much security as yesterday. Nor, did it appear much was going on at either place. The extra's lot was empty. The few security guards that were there kept asking me what I was doing and someone drove by me with my son and took pictures of us then drove off before I could say anything.

But here are some more pics.

Yesterday, we spotted this Mercedes-Benz 722 on the lot. They had it street side with guards around it so I couldn't really get a great shot.

I'm guessing the NB on the license plate of the Chevelle stands for Non-Biological.
