 | | | Transformers 2 Movie Set Images - Chevy Malibu Police Car | | Posted on 05-30-2008 at 07:32 PM by Tony_Bacala | Thanks to an anonymous email tip we now have new images from the Transformers 2 Movie set in Bethlehem PA.
In them we see some various shots of the steel mill being turned into a Chinese city with Chinese letter based signs, and a shot of a Chinese police car. The police car is a Chevy Malibu, slightly altered with the appropriate paint applications.
Whether or not the car seen will actually be a Transformer or not is unknown.
Enjoy!

Problem I see is if GM still has exclusive rights then a chevy malibu in China tells me prowl will be a CHEVY malibu.
BTW does that car not look exactly like alternator PROWL. Actually the more I think about it that is probably going to be an easter egg to us fans.
I cant see M Bay letting prowl be a malibu I mean for barricade we got the Saleen mustang treatment. Man it would be awesome if they opened the doors for other car manufacturers for this movie. They wouldnt have to put a dime of their own money in it to make it.
Im looking at you honda and porsche Superion33: Quote:

Im looking at you honda and porsche | High five, brotha, high five!
I would LOVE to see other car models in the movie. A Chevy MALIBU? Come on please! You have all kinds of cool cars to choose from and you choose a Chevy Malibu? Dump GM and open it up. Bring in the Buggatis and Ferraris and Lotus and everything else thats awesomeness on a stick. God, that pic is SWEET! Much more drool worthy than a Malibu! Come on Bay - the thing you're known for - flashy special effects and visuals - should be the best part of this movie. The bots should SCREAM awesomeness! Not the response "uh, does that dude have chicken legs, where is his mouth, whats going on?".

Quick guess - he'll be a gung-ho Dirty Harry cop and will look like Barricade on steroids.
I'll stay with my Classics Prowl, thank you. | I agree he needs to atleast have the doors on the shoulders like wings similar to what they did for bumblbee.
Thats prowl's signature physical trait.. If they make him like dirty harry and he is a cheezy character I will have to destroy all of holly wood. Prowl should have a level headed miltary like temperment meaning all business similar to animated prowl but not so crunchy feely.

Wait, let me guess. He's black and white, has a light bar, and is a police car. It's automatically Prowl right? Is that how the conclusion was made?
Here's what it looks like: a mis-painted, mis-represented Chinese Gong An police car. If it turns out to be Prowl, I don't agree with their choice. But as of this minute I'm calling it as I see it. Just a simple prop car to be used by the Chinese police. | Because it does? As a regular here I'm sure you've seen your share of Prowls. There have been more than a few TF Prowls that were half black-half white regular little sedans with normal wheels and Chinese writing on the side. Classics, Binaltech, Alternators, RID, etc.
It may not be Prowl, hell it probably isn't (not flashy enough like some have said)but it definitely looks like what all the recent TF Prowls have looked like. I mean, there's no argument here. I could flood this post with toy images but why bother because the Prowl-ness of this car is so obvious.
Again it might just be a coincidence, but most people here are betting on the odds that the police car that looks just like Prowl on the "battle scene set" of Transformers just might turn into Prowl at some point. Superion33:

Well said. I totally see that just because its a police car doesn't make it Prowl. Heck, the previous movie had tons of police cars in it too. And those weren't all Prowl.

So other than the common theme of it being black and white, which pretty much goes for nearly every police car ever decorated in existence, there is pretty much nothing that says this car is Prowl.
Again, I could be wrong in the end and Bay will make this car Prowl, but as of this minute, there is absolutely nothing on that car that has been seen, besides the black and white, that would make it remotely close to Prowl. Until we see an Autobot badge on the thing, it is nothing but a vehicle that's going to be used by the Chinese police in the scene.

it's NOT prowl. unless there's going to be a bunch of prowls. my nephew just texted me from the set and told me he saw six of the chinese police cars drive through.

Then he could slip in with the police and deal with whatever Decepticon that showed up without causing too much of a scene himself.
Velcrohead:
What's going to be funny is when we find out that these were just film lot security cars that the crew painted up as police cars just to mess with us. They're probably laughing their butts off at this message board even as I type.

However, speaking as one who has worked on movies, there isn't a lot of time on set to screw around with jokes as they only have a short amount of time and budget to get their shots and to get on to the next location. So even if it isn't Prowl, I don't think it's a joke on us fans either.

I'm used to seeing different colour schemes on police cars.
On another point, people were complianing that a Malibu wasn't flashy enough for the movie. Well I always thought it was kind of dumb that they always chose the flashiest alts in the movie and G1 (seemed like most of the G1 autobots were top of the line sportscars).
Wouldn't it be more realistic to go with a more everyday car? And surely that would also make for a better disguise. Cars like G1 Red Alert never made sense to me. Since when do public services need or have the budget for highly expensive race cars?
But anyhow, I guess I was wrong.
UK Germany
Italy
Yes, these are real police cars.

It may not be an official Police car, but it could be a "Private Security" patrol car for the "Fictional Chinese" factory. taasia:
I don't see it as Prowl or Jazz. To me it just looks like another police car.
jazz4ever:
that would be totally awesome if it was prowl

Every stinkin' patrol car is the exact same model of Saleen (or something ridiculously close to it) as Barricade is, complete with rollbars. Most of them are even the same color scheme as him, and there's even a local school-patrol unit that has the same color setup as the Recon Barricade recolor toy. It's actually kind of creepy.
