Transformers 2 Filming in Culver City and the Return of Barricade transformersmustang1
Internet Business Daily's Matt Berman has spotted several Saleen Mustangs decorated like Barricade while driving around in Culver City. This heralds the return of Barricade for the sequel as well as boding well for Transformers meeting its ambitious June 2009 launch date. The other cars are probably there as "stunt doubles" for the Decepticon in case one of the cars gets damaged in what will no doubt prove to be an explosive car chase.

A set of photos sent over by a friend this afternoon might lead you to believe that the filming of Transformers 2 is getting close to being underway. The pictures were snapped from a camera phone in Culver City, and they are clearly Saleen Mustangs with the Decepticon logo on the side.
Hell yeah!!! Barricade is back!! Now bring Prowl in!!

Laser_Optimus:
Interesting. Wonder why there's two cars though?
Sso02V:
there's always spares in case something breaks, or shooting schedule needs the car to be here, while it's already filming a scene there.
Ravenxl7:
Cool. Probably setting up for another chase scene, or something, imo.
Sso02V:
hopefully it's a longer chase scene than the one in the first movie
Dinobot Nuva:
Wahoo!
DN
Magelite:
More barricade can only be a good thing.
SPLIT LIP:
I wouldn't be surprised.
Optimus747:
Excellent, I'm glad they're keeping Barricade. He's got some pretty good potential if they develop his character to follow his various tech specs.
jdre_124:
I hope this is true. That means by the end of this summer we start to see test shots of new figs!!
Socialvegetable:
I hate Mustangs, but damn I love Barricade. Total badass, glad to see he'll probably be back.
General Tekno:
Huh.

Interesting indeed - Orci hasn't mentioned being done their current draft over at DM.net yet.
Optimus747:
Didn't Bay say filming and stuff was already going to be done, even if the actual script/story wasn't completely finished? It wouldn't be surprising if they were filming already, considering how Bay is pushing for that June 26th release.

Blackout:
Cool. Can't wait to see more pics (especially of new bots) as production moves along.
Master Fwiffo:
The filming has commenced. LET THE BITCHING BEGIN!

Fort Max:
Awesome!

I love Barricades design, very, very cool.

But this is the exact same car as the first movie, how are Hasbro going to sell new figures!

Well there's no way they could update every character for every movie. Fingers crossed we get a new, better mold for Barricade this time. One that has fingers you can see, and a movable head.
Lord Chumley:
Barracade rules i love him. All theyhave to do now is make a transformer icecream van, hurse, limo and schoolbus to make my dreams come true

Very true, I was thinking the other day that If Hasbro really wants to bring back Alternators then they should do it off the back of the next movie line. Given how massively popular the movie toys were last summer it should help the alt style sell better and who here honestly wouldn't buy 1/24 crazyily engineered versions of movie Bumblebee and Barricade?

Maybe even Ironhide too. Droooooool
Ricochet:
...or just moving old props to somewhere else?
optimusdestruction:
Here's the link. And you will never guess who is getting hauled around.................................BARRICADE!

optimusdestruction:
delete it! already here dammit.
MegaPrime33:
I liked Barricade in the movie, especially when he was interrigating Sam. So long as he is more badass in film number 2, I'm all for it.

Good point. Either way, seeing three Barricades being trucked around like that has got to be a sight to see.
Gargoyle:
Awesome, I love Bazza (not like that, though). They really have to bring in Prowl for some cop-on-cop action (not like that, though).
Ash from Carolina:
Interesting that they seem to be doing something about the rather large plot hole in the first film rather than just sweeping it under the rug. If they listened to fan feedback with "what the heck happened to Barricade" then fingers crossed they are also listening to more character for the robots as well.

Of course I'm still not holding my breath about a proper arm cannon for Megatron or a sleek cool looking Starscream instead of a Beast Machines reject, but still anything to make the second film less painful when I'm foolish enough to put $10 on Bay for the first time making a film I can feel entertained by.
ILoveDinobot:
haha to everyone who said Barricade was on the ship.
Thundercrackah:
Sweet, glad he's not been forgotten.
The wait for movie 2 will be a difficult one!

Bay: "Drive this truck around, take some photos of the cars, then post them online somewhere. That'll get those Transformers fanboys foaming."

Truth.

Probably.
TRANS+CRAZY:
BARRICADE'S BACK!!! YEA!!! THANK YOU, MICHAEL BAY!!!

Hey, hopefully Matt will do a Lil-Formers comic about Barricade's return!
Soundwave84:
Well that is good i am glad he is still in it maybe they will be able to give him more lines this time. I cant wait to see this movie!!! It will rock!!!
Brodimus Prime:
I think folks are jumping the gun a bit. I wouldn't mind seeing Barricade back but two things bug me which are: 1) the fact that it's the same car and the unlikelihood of Hasbro trying to sell the same mold two years apart, and 2) the fact that Bay has said false info would be leaked. Personally, I hope it's true that these Barricades are for the new film, but I'm hoping that they'll be used more for a flashback to his fate in the first film. I'd like to see new bots in the next film, plus I like it when the comic and movie adaptations match up.

But honestly, going nuts with WOOOO BARRICADE BACK!!!!!! YAY BAY!!!!! I think that's a little excessive this early in the game. It could, as someone said, just be old props being moved. We'll see.
Eric:
Barricade's coming back! Hopefully we'll find out where he's been since the first movie.
Mega-con:
Do people not understand thta there are going to be more characters that Hasbro can sell? Why is everyone concerned that they can't sell another Barricade mold? Believe me, there are goign to be planty of new toys. Hasbro sold toys that weren't in the movie, so...

And Bay can't keep EVERYTHING under wraps. Some things will leak. That's just the way it is. I'm assuming the design and script is what he's more concerned with not leaking.
TheSpacebridge:
Makes sense, the Prime/Barricade fight was removed from the first film as Bay felt that if you killed every bad guy off them there is no continuity into the sequel, need to have characters you can identify from the original movie

My guess, old props being sent for work, IE camera mounts, checking them over etc

Hitch
alien:
my lord Barricade...hopefully will appear more scene in TF2!!!
DeathsHead:
I must say I'd be quite surprised to find that these are being shipped about for shooting - uncovered and easily followed to the location by any nosey parker...

Most film crews try to avoid needless publicity unless they can't avoid it (such as shooting in the middle of downtown L.A.)
Angelophile1:
Well, Don Murphy seems to suggest that the pics aren't recent or indicative of anything judging by his latest post on DM.net, but *shrugs*. Take that as you will.

that doesn't seem to stop them from releasing the same damn Spider-Man figure every time a movie comes out.
Red leader:
ha ha! Barricades been sitting in Mission Citys Police Depatment being driven by donut eating, farting cops for the last 2 years! hes going to be so pissed when screamer comes back with the troops

I'm kind of surprised this didn't occur to more people. Unless it's a double bluff of course.
jazz4ever:

My guess - the first figure will be rereleased in a slightly altered colour scheme (something like the Premium one, but tweaked) and will have some new accessories.

That's my guessing on all the returning characters who do not get new molds. That may not be a bad thing, since depending on the way the Movie plays out, you might get (for example) Prime with an axe, or with double swords, or something like that, so Hasbro can re-release a first Movie Prime, modified to take the new accessories.
Brave Magnus:
Hell yeah! Bad Cop is back!!!
