 | | | Transformers 2: The Fallen Confirmed To Be A New Character | | Posted on 09-17-2008 at 11:54 PM by Cataclizm1 | TFW2005 has received confirmation that The Fallen is a new character in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The name of the sequel is indeed referring to this new character, and it is not referencing the Decepticons from the first movie trying to get revenge on the Autobots. Will The Fallen be similar to his comic book persona? Stay tuned to TFW2005 for more details on this new character as they emerge.

After reading many of these posts...I am annoyed of the constant negatvity toward new ideas..I thought most people would be very happy with the fallen in the film..but on this board it seems as if many are not happy. I dont understand why....the fallen will create a great plot point we haven't really got into much in the transformers frnachise....it also means NO Unicron, I think! in the past it always went from megatron bad guy to unicron even bigger bad guy and i hated it. unicron is horrible. besides all 3 films cannot be....O man i wonder what megatron is up to this episode.....these are films..it would be stupid if the only thing that ever happend would be megatron and his follwers trying to get energon or take over the government with new autobots introduced each time..then at the end autobots and cons fight prime defeats megs and he runs away and comes back...my point is this is not the cartoon they needed a new plot point and i think the fallen the 13 original transformers and primus is awesome..now hopefully they just leave unicron out of the equation.

I'm just worried they are cramming so many characters into this, now introducing yet another villain, and still have to have room to showcase the wacky antics of Shia Lebouf, that this is turning into another Spidey 3.
If they barely extrapolated on the characters in the 1st movie, and now with all these other characters, how are they going to deal with that and ANOTHER main villain?
They had the perfect opportunity to do what X-men 2 did, expand on the characters as the intros are out of the way, and give us characters the audience gives a shit about.
If they somehow give us an Autobot/Decepticon team up to face this "ultimate evil", I'm going to punch whoever I'm at this movie with in the face and blame it on Bay.... That's been done so many times in the past, it's ridiculous.
There are just so many things wrong with introducing such a fan wanky character as the Fallen, when there are so many other fan wanky characters they could have used that people actually wanted to see.
Anyone who thinks that this Fallen is going to look anything like the comic version is in for a huge surprise. If they barely help on to the iconic looks of Prime and Megs, what makes you think they won't turn the Fallen into a spikey mess of tin foil?
That is of course if this is all really true. Guess we'll find out next summer. |
I hope autobots and cons do not combine forces...that would be just wrong! however megatron problie wont appear toward the end along with the fallen..which will lead into film 3....devastator will have plenty time to kick ass!
Prowl:
I dunno how I feel about this. One one hand, I would be happy to know that Bay is considering all of the mediums out there for the movie, so it means he is paying attention to storylines and characters from the mythos instead of pulling "Blowupacon" from his ass. On the other hand, I am not a huge fan of the whole "Fallen storyline" To me, there is really no bigger badass than Megatron (with the possible exception of Unicron). I don't like thinking that anyone can top ol' megs.
However, it would make for some interesting storytelling, so I am open to it.
Torque:
if they did combine forces, id hope the cons were trying to destroy the autobots anyway or something unexpected
Mechafire:
I think this is good news...
hailgalvatron:
i hate to be a downer, but if this is true, it is not good. no need for more factions or anything. Megatron Barely had a chance to lead in the first movie, so let him be the MAIN villian and LEAD the decepticons this time. Were the writers watching Spiderman 3 and thought, hey, this whole 1,000 different story archs in one movie is a GREAT idea? Does Megatron really need another commander? no. he clearly destroyed everyone in the first (cept for sam witwicky) Why not introduce galvatron as a surviving commander on cybertron or something wierd like that, not some character that was in a comic for 2 issues. Thankfully most of the leaked info on this movie is B.S .
Soundwave84:
I think this is a great idea i am excited to see how they handle him

The sound of geewunners crying has been deafening for the past couple of years, and it's about time they had their pampers changed and laid down for a nap.
NIDARAM12:
Transformers characters aren't that deep. I'd rather just have as many cool robots as possible, so long as they have at least the same amount of personality and character as the first movie Autobots.

The Fallen wasn't even part of G1, and he was barely in the original DW storyline, which really wasn't G1 either.
There's no point in being combative because people have an opinion as to why this is a bad idea.
Swoop86:
wow. so i guess this "sequel" isn't going to have a plot whatsoever? How can they fit a new character, starscream, megatron, the decepticons, and the autobots all into the 10 minutes they have alloted for "big robo time" in between teenage love scenes and eshPlOsHUNS! sorry bout that, just lowering my expectations so that when the movie comes out and it blows my mind all over the person in back of me i will be happy.
Chaos Prime:
So are we certain that this is not misinformation?
I wouldn't mind seeing The Fallen in the movie. As long as they can do him right, and not screw him up like they did Megatron.
But if we cant have Unicron in the movie then at least we can have someone who represents him.
Soundwave84:
I think having the Fallen in the movie gives the movie more of a new movie feel instead of just a sequal now if they dont do it right then well we are in trouble but i believe in Bay and bombs flames and so forth....haha
13eelzebub:
from the wikipedia entry: "One of the original thirteen Transformers created by Primus, the robot who would become the Fallen betrayed his creator by siding with Primus's dark twin, the malevolent planet-eater, Unicron. In the final battle between Primus and Unicron, the Fallen fell victim to the same fate as his master, sucked through a black hole into another dimension. However, while Unicron emerged into another universe, the Fallen was not so fortunate, finding himself trapped in the "underspace" between dimensions."
I dunno, but I can kind of see primus being replaced by optimus, and megatron in the place of unicron... Then autobots/decipticons teaming up to beat fallen? Well they will find a way to make it all fit.. I hope :x

Don't forget the fandom's newest un-written rule: if you ever criticize the movies... about anything... ever... no matter how reasonable your point or well-founded your arguments, you WILL get shot down by the people who rather dismiss you than actually think about what you're saying. Really, once someone reads your post and sees that your criticizing the movie, you're done. Your arguments mean squat, because you're probably just a Geewhun cry-baby Bay-hater. Your whole opinion of the movie is determined by what category your most recent post falls into: "love" or "hate." Ain't no room for nuance in this fandom anymore, no sir! Quote:

now only two more victories and we'll be even.

Hell, I'm not bothered by this idea in the least. Bring it on, says I.
Zaraxion1021:
Yeah!! I knew he was gonna be in this movie for sure. I wonder if he'll be the on who brings back Megatron..... Jcanuc:
I'm not sure how to take the whole news of "the Fallen"
I will agree with the many posts stating that too many characters can limit the development of those characters, and if there are too many story arcs it will just be a big mess.
But it can be done with good writing.
I love more bots, give me filler, give me cameos, and give me 2 seconds just for cannon fodder. I would totally love to see some homages of the G1 bots as a 2 second cameo just to be killed. A complete airforce of seekers would be awesome.
Every Character does not need to have an in depth story line, point blank.
Seriously, consider some of the star wars characters that had just enough screen time to make a point, and not a developed story. Boba Fett & The Emporor in Empire strikes back had just enough time in the move to serve a plot purpose, and then think of the bounty hunters, a minute at best of screen time? there are too many filler characters in Star Wars to count and nobody really complained that it hurt the movie. They weren't any less memorable because of it.
Really this will all come down to the skill of the writers.
You have to consider that (hopefully) we will have an hour of major fights between autobot & decepticon (and I'm hoping the human forces are just an add in secondary sub plot.) Also there will be required Sam & makela screen time, which hopefully is used to progress the transformers story through the splinter fragment halucinations bits. Remove another half hour +/- for whatever bad jokes and script fodder they insert (frat party, evil deceptichick that gets goo'ed).
If they put The Fallen in as an "emperor" character they can use him to push a past plot to develop the mythos in some beginning narrative and use him at the end as a leader into the 3rd movie.
I'm not sure how I see it going down,
Starscream attempts to lead, ends up being a puppet, awakens the fallen, pledges his allegence, returns to earth to destroy autobots?
I got a bad feeling that the autobots will be somewhat responsible for the rebirth of Megatron (which would be in the character of Optimus, hates it, but it is for the greater good.) "good" megatron = BAD IDEA!, team up and Betrayal = better Idea.
It can be done, and it can be done well, it all depends on the writing.
For me the story will make or break it. I figure it will be at least good enough, I hope it will be great.
will wait to see.
ShortCircuit:
Oh oh, like optimus and the crew cant keep up w the fallen even with jetfire by thier side, so they decide team up to respark and rebuild megs with constructicons and ratchet using Jazz's dismembered parts, and an oath to never come back to earth once they win. When megs suddenly activates the spark chard wich was sent to earth with jetfire 1 billion years ago then, it acts like homing beacon to soundwave and friends later on they.......

Please, search the movie forum and see if there isn't PLENTY of bitching about "Bayformers." No one is censoring anyone's opinion.

See, it's all crystal clear. No misinformation to be found here!

On another note, what evidence do we have for thinking that this character is not an alternate identity for Megatron? I've argued in the recent Megatron leaked pics thread that, as far as we can tell from the first movie, Megatron's backstory is completely consistent with him being the Fallen. Could the TFW Insider please clarify?
