TF2 Soundwave Satellite and Truck Concept Art with Ravage

It's hard to find the words to. . .wait. . .

Ravage looks great (loving the guns mounted on his hips ala his G1 missiles). Soundwave is ok, not really that fond of the truck mode. I'm curious about those blue orbs though. Would have liked him to keep his visor too.

Give Soundwave a more-G1-esque head and it'll be pure win.

I don't like it... Don't get me wrong i love the other movie designs, its just that THIS doesnt scream 'Soundwave' to me.....I am really opposed to the idea of him being a pickup truck to begin with; that means he's going to be tiny in comparison to Megatron and Starscream...... I was expecting Soundwave to be huge.

I also dont like the big CHEVY logo Slapped right on his lower torso...

I wish they would have made Soundwave into a Stealth bomber or even that SR71 Blackbird....but alas...


As for Ravage. Not crazy about him either but it's better than I was expecting. I originally thought he was going to be that horrendous spindly piece of wreckage that was crawling on the hood of a car in that picture we saw a while ago, so my hopes have been slightly boosted now that I see he vaguely resembles a cat.

Personally i'd have prefered if they took the 'Scorponok' route and kept him a little closer to the actual anatomical structure of the animal he's trying to mimic.

with regards to the head design, look closely and you'll notice that it's basically the decepticon symbol. If you look back to 1984, you'll know that the decepticon symbol as we know and love it today was originally designed after the toy head of soundwave, just as the autobot symbol was designed after the prowl/bluestreak/smokescreen head. I rather like this new design. Not sure on the ravage, I'll have to wait and see, but I love how ravage kept his launchers.

Speaking of head designs, for an example of how this was used in the first film, go look at both Ironhide AND Ratchets heads, and then compare the overall designs and shapes to the original face sticker on the G1 Ironhide and Ratchet toys. Same thing in that case too. Look closely, you'll see it. I have to say though, in the event that they may possibly put prowl/bluestreak/smokescreen into the TF2 or even TF3 (not to say that they would, but I can dream can't I?), I would love to see them model the face after the autobot symbol (G1 head), just like they've done with Soundwave here.

That Soundwave shares several prominent design cues with the non-movie Dropkick/Salvage toy from the first movie.

Huh, not bad on Soundwave. Actually looks like a TF to me. Ravage...eh, looks like a cross between an ankylosaurus and armadillo. A little bit overdone.

I agree itss sooo much more bad ass . But exactly how much bad ass is enough before it becomes just Bad and then ass. Not every thing good or great in life has to be total bad ass and when you do that its just seems fake.

Really only got myself to blame here the first movie had shards of what I wanted to see and failed overall in any attempt to bring back or evoke anything of transformers feel. IT was just giant F@#$ing robots and never really felt like transformers, I cant even imagine what the movie would have been like if Peter Cullen didnt at least Voice Prime.

Here is the biggest problem I dont hate the designs but I mean come on stay a little faithful to the characters. Really all it is is an open casting call for all new line of transformers and the names are only placed on them so idiots like my self will try to believe this is some how any resemblence to the character. Hell they couldnt make him a blue truck maybe make those light things gold i dont give a shit if they are black lights you can always make the truck blue or is that a nother color in the spectrum they have trouble shooting. So if red and blue cant be shot that means we are getting more and more limited.

I know there will be tons of people saying you got to accept its the movie and this is how its got to be and to you i say I DONT have to accept this . If you cant accept this Soundwave art is basically barricade part two and they just slapped the label on it then god help you because in your world the everyday is bright and shiny.

Ravage is cool. Aside from the one eye, which is the only thing I dislike, he reminds me a LOT of his G1 self. I mean, he has his rockets on his back - how is that not cool?

Soundwave... well, my issue with Soundwave is his head. He looks like Barricade and not Soundwave.

Gotta say though - his build is about right IMO. The blue disks are surprising, seem out of place, but will likely be cool (though I have no idea where they'll hide on the toy) but the head... my issue with it is that it looks too much like Barricade's.

It's all really pretty sad you know, alot of these TF2 threads are full of "I don't like this", or "This is awful". Is it just me, or did we already say all this kind of stuff for the first film? I thought we would've gotten that out of our systems after the movie was a box office smash, ranked in the top 100 movies of all time, and knocked Terminator 2 off of a throne that it held for 16 years as the #1 robot movie of all time.

This is the movieverse, and as such, it has the movieverse asthetic. We've known that the robots would have this general style for nearly 3 years now since the first leaks of movie bots for the first film. It obviously didn't do any good to complain back then, and it's probably just as futile now. If you don't like the designs then Universe Classic series is for you.

Yeah, pretty much my response for Soundwave. It seems that this is what the TFW Insider saw, but according to Orci he's not a pickup, so this must be early concept art. Really curious what all those blue orbs are about, however. I imagine Ravage will stay pretty much the same, though, given that they've already created a puppet for him. And Ravage looks freaking AWESOME OMG CAN'T WAIT.

Looks great, but doesn't really look like Soundwave. Likst most people, I blame the face. I do rather like the alt-mode, and when people think about it- it'd be very fitting to have this as his alt mode if he's to be a spy (though don't most of his bios state his function as -communications-?) as a heavy-duty pick up would have alot of uses in alot of places... say, rebuilding places that were victim of Decepticon activity or moving equipment out of Sector7 labs? Even with that being said, I'd still prefer him in blue! :b

I don't like this. Ravage looks like a rip off from Aliens and Soundwave may as well be a new character because it doesn't even remotely look like Soundwave.

It's fake. The quality of the drawing doesn't match the concept art from the previous movie. And everything about is somehow very amateurish.

look closey ravage has 2 eyes....we are seeing him from the side....he has a nose just below and past the eye which usually mean there is another eye

ravage looks ok, but i do have some issues with soundwave.
first off, soundwave doesnt have a face, and he is blue, what i recomend is that you make it a navy blue truck, it would look much better, and where is his massive shoulder cannon? that was one of the reasons why i liked soundwave soo much

ravage doesn't look bad at all. but this just doesn't say soundwave to me. its a great design and would be great for another character, but to me this just isn't soundwave. regardless of what people on the boards have been saying about being open minded and that its "bayverse", they should at least keep the core element of a character and not just scratch everything to make something that looks cool. Soundwave is too big of a character to mess up or not get right.

Dynamo's Soundwave concept is far superior to this. The leaked design seems very uninspired to me, it's like an upsized Barricade clone, and there isn't even the barest homage to the original G1 version (no shoulder cannon, visor, mouthplate, rectangular torso etc). Ravage is ok, he seems in line with the "raw beast mode" description, but he'd look a lot better with two red eyes.

I can just imagine the BomBaytastic scene where Ravage takes off from Earth lets out this shriek of death, transforms, hovers in space, and eavesdrops on the autobots.

If thats NOT soundwave I'm gonna poop G1 bricks.

I think starscream varied slightly from the concept pics to the real deal right? So I'm gonna expect some variance if this is true. I like it.

I'm really digging the way Ravage looks, for sure he has that alien motif going while still resembling dog namesake. Soundwave may be fake since he's resembling barricade as someone mentioned, either way I wouldn't mind him looking like that. Also for those saying that is is completely fake, I feel that someone had the art and just photoshopped it too look cleaner, you see "ravage" in the bottom left of his image in the same style and font as the Megatron concept art had.

In movie one many decepticon face designs resembled decepticon logo. Blackout, Barricade and Bonecrusher. And likewise the autobot logo is reflected in Ironhides face -- Ractchet & prime to a lesser extent. Though it was far from perfect I liked this idea and want to see it continue.

Personally they both could go either way for me. I'm confident that the Ravage image is legit (Since an almost identical "Puppet" was seen in leaked set footage a while ago.) And don't worry he had two eyes! But Soundwave I'm torn on, with the vehicle bits scattered all over him scream fake to me, BUT early TFM concepts looked the same way, So I reserve judgement for more info/images.

Interesting concepts ... I do like Ravage and am somewhat ok with Soundwave. It is still fairly early so alot could change.

this is really lame to me.bay is already going to hell for not putting the dinobots in the movie,but if he screws up soundwave the universe might have to come up with a worse punishment for such crimes.

Well, G1 Soundwave is often had a tank-like vehicle mode back on Cybertron in most of the modern comic interpretations, so it's not out of the question for some other Soundwave to have another big ground vehicle mode. But yeah, Bob said he won't be a pickup anyway.

In my opinion, they almost got Ravage right. Slap some red eyes on the sides of his face and slim him down about 20% and he'd be perfect. Here's the catch tho, If this is real, it has to be pre earth mode since he's suppose to be one of those black trikes we saw some months back. There is no way you can get that cat from that trike without a lot of cheating.

That said, and given Orci's statement that Soundwave would not be a Pick-up Truck, I think what we are seeing is an advanced concept that was planned and then changed. (for whatever reason) Kinda like Arcee in the last film. As the concept stands, it's not bad for the Bayverse, but it does need to be blue. And since these bots seem to have battle masks when they fight, I think it's too soon to claim that they forgot the face plate. In fact, the only thing that strikes me as off on the Soundwave is the very toy-like fists. (instead of claws)

We've seen a bunch of leaked stuff before and we still have more to come. In my opinion, nothing could look worse or be as far off from G1 as Starscream so I can't be dissapointed anymore.

why are they so against throwing in some color for the transformers?they dont all have to be black or grey(decepticons)

color wise bumblebee looked the best,but lets see some reds and blues more too.

I'd be happy with this design in blue instead of black. It's just too similar to Ironhide and Barricade this way.

Well...I have to say, I don't hate the bot design. But I'm not too sure on the alt-mode choice for Soundwave. Especially since Orci already said he wasn't going to be a truck. Unless that was suppose to be misinformation, even though he said that whole mis-info thing wasn't working out...Unless that was mis-info and now my head hurts........

I agree with the question as to why is he a black truck? Being a truck, surly you could get away with a blue paint scheme. Then again, maybe they went with black, cause they made his glowy bits blue, and they didn't want that to clash?

I like the look of Ravage there. I don't really mind the whole alien look of him since that is the aesthetic style of the films. They're aliens, so they're going to look the part a little more then the 80s toy line did.

But yeah, the whole truck thing does kind of make me go "huh?"

I have to say I'm a bit surprised by the amount of "It doesn't look like G1 Soundwave" type comments. Really, shouldn't this have been expected after seeing the first movie?

I have to say I don't care for the idea of Soundwave as a pick-up truck... But I do like this design for Soundwave. As others have commented, the head is a bit Decepticon symbol shaped, as several of the movie 'Cons kinda have, but Soundwave is known for it from G1. The blue orbs on him also makes me think 'alien transmitter' or some such device, which to me is perfect for him.

Ravage, really my only complaint is the nose/eyes part of the head. Otherwise, I think it looks perfect.

I've felt this way about most Movie concept art, but ... meh. There's getting to be a sameness and interchangeability about a lot of the movie-style robot designs. The main thing that makes this Soundwave stand out is the big round blue lights all over him. Otherwise, I'll go along with those who see much Barricade in him.

Ravage seems like a step in the right direction, though I wish they went more for "sleek" and less "powerful". The beefy buid and proportion make it look more like a pitbull than a predatory cat ('cept maybe a Smilodon). I do appreciate the little homagey touch of having the rocket-like-things on the hips though.
