Steve Jablonsky Scoring Transformers 4

One of this fan's personal favorite things about the Transformers live-action movie series is the stirring score that accompanies the action. Whether it is the epic "Arrival to Earth" or Shockwave's theme, the score for the three movies has never failed to set an appropriately epic musical backdrop to the gigantic robot-on-robot combat on the big screen. With composer Steve Jablonsky having masterfully scored three Transformers movies now, it should come as little surprise that he has recently updated his official website to include "Transformers 4" under his list of current and upcoming projects.

We don't know much about Transformers 4 yet, but as we learn more we'll be updating with the latest right here. But now we know one more thing - Transformers 4 will carry on the series tradition of epic orchestral scores.

Nice, I love his compositions, including the ones from "Steam".

Seriously calling it Trans4mers. That's just so weak.
Barricade24
Bountyan
Good, I love his scores.
shroobmaster
Steve rocks. His music for Battleship was the only part of the movie I could stand.
blackout501st
Awesome news. Aside from the CGI stuff, his music is the best part about the movies, and I've always enjoyed listening to his work.

Great news, his scores are awesome.

Great!! Another CD for my collection...to listen to while I drive. Awww.
Zigholtul
Well that's some good news. His compositions are some of the best and I really wish the movies had reflected better on this.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (The Original Score) - Infinite White - YouTube

Amazing that this piece of music is part of a movie that consists of dogs humping, robot testicles, and Wheelie humping Megan Fox's leg.

I couldn't disagree more. I think that is rather awesome.

Jablonsky's music is one of my favorite aspects of the franchise. It's damn near perfect and I am ecstatic that he is returning.
Astronut
Please tell me they aren't actually officially calling it Trans4mers.
doomboy536
Yay for Steve. He's partly responsible for making me cry of happiness more than once.

Boo for Trans4mers, it's such a boring and sucky name.

The music? Yes, it is awesome. The title Trans4mers on the other had is such a lame and uninspired name it makes Dark of the moon sound like a great name.
Autovolt 127
It's a shame that despire how good his scores are the movies there in are just dumb popcorn films. Steve needs more recognition. He's just as good as John Williams, Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer.
Arbitron
Hooray that he's coming back. But seriously? Trans4mers? Is that seriously the best they could fucking come up with?

Do you guys even read the articles referenced in links anymore? No where on that page is the term 'Trans4mers' even listed. The OP is the only one who has used that term, with the exception of those over reacting. Would it surprise me if Trans4mers is used in some official capacity? Of course not. Is it the official name of the fourth film? Of course not. So chill.

Whining is the right of all sentient beings. Chill and let us pre-emptively complain.

As a working title at least. Not official.

I'm happy Jablonsky's back. He's great.

He's got Transformers 4 on the site, and considering that none of the other installments have been numbered, odds are this one will be something in a similar vein.

Anyhow, great to hear we have another epic orchestral score to look forward to. I can't wait
TylerMirage

At first glance, that thumbnail of Jablonsky reminded me of Peter Cullen for some reason.
EnerJohn
Awesome! His work is great, but when is DOTM coming out on CD in stores?????????? I've been waiting for this score CD to be released! Hell, I can't even find it online...
StarryAqua
The music better not be similar if the fourth film is supposed to head in a different direction.
megatroptimus
Desperate houseformers!
Bumblebee765
Awesome! One of my favorite parts of the movies!
Sideways77
Hell yes.

He just needs to replace Brain Tyler on the Prime soundtrack.
Leonis Prime
Well that means that the top quality score swill still be there for us to enjoy. Seriously the only real quality that the trilogy had was Jablonsky's music. So thats something to look forward to.

Megapork! With a pleasant post as always!

The score is where the movies rocked across the board. Jablonsky is awesome.

Fixed.

The music is the real deal when it comes to the quality of the trilogy.

I might of added the special effects if the transformers were all different (in color schemes and designs) not all grey/silver, except for Optimus, Bumblebee and Ratchet mainly.
Lbsammills51
Thank God. I was worried they'd replace him. I love listening to his scores. Arrival to Earth and Sentinel Prime are among my favorite pieces of music ever.

Until we know more about what TF4's about, I don't see why the scores would need to be different. Since TF4 will apparently still be set in the same continuity, consistency in scores could help tie the films together.

The colour and aesthetic of the robot characters has virtually nothing to do with the visual effects other than "can ILM/DD do this?", to which the answer is always "yes". If you cast the blame of the design choices on anyone, it's Bay first, then maybe the production designer, the lead conceptual artists and so on. ILM's job is to bring those approved design to the screen. They did their job: Bring the designer's 2D work into the live-action world. Were the robots composited into the scenes nigh-flawlessly? Was live-action footage and visual effects nigh-indistinguishable? It doesn't matter if one says "Optimus' bajillion parts looked like a scrapyard!", it matters if that scrapyard looks tangible, like a real scrapyard. It doesn't matter if Soundwave is silver. It matters if his silver matches the real silver and if his CGI tires look identical to the live-action tires. That's where the quality of visual effects - a quality that even hardened Bayformers haters - nearly all agree on. You don't blame Weta Digital if you don't like blue-cat people designs. You don't blame Sony Pictures Imageworks that Peter Maguire shot organic webbing. Rhythm & Hues isn't to blame if someone doesn't like talking lions. Thus, the complex look of the robots and the relatively dull colour palette of the Decepticons is not to fall on ILM's shoulders.

If you don't like the aesthetic, that is entirely fine. And I'm sorry if I come off as hostile, because that's not my intent. But as an ILM/VFX fanboy, it really rustles my jimmies when ILM (or any visual effects house in general) is blamed for something they have next-to-no authority over (read: the design aesthetic chosen by the director).

Awesome news! I love the music for the last three movies. Definitely looking forward to what he comes up with for the fourth installment.

This is excellent news. I've admired his music from Arrival On Earth to It's Our Fight.
Bring it on, Jablonsky!

Good to know, I was unsure about the name when the movie was announced waaaay back in was of 05? Now, I consider him to be essential to the films identity.

Now would someone else like to give him some work.
Dolza_Khyron
bay hasn't numbered any of them yet. he better damn well not call this one "trans4mers" or i am out.

because it just shows the lack of imagination going into this fourth film, by going by the trend set by other movies.
Ravage101
Sound design and scoring is so vital to a story and Steve Jablonsky is still the only one I can imagine working Transformers. So reading this news made me pretty happy. This is great news. Steve Jablonsky is so talented.
Tomiku
This is the best news I've heard about TF4 yet. Not even the lack of Shia LeButt made me this pleased.

NOW GIVE THE ORCHESTRAL SCORES A STANDARD CD RELEASE, instead of this "inspired by" "soundtrack" crap taking priority. I wasn't able to find physical versions of ANY of the first three movie scores.

...though speaking of TF movie music staples, anyone wanna take bets on a new Linkin Park single for the film?
Shizuka
I hate the guy, he keeps turning down my marriage proposals. I just love his music so much!
Girl Pants
Glad to have him back. Many of the music pieces defined moments in the film more than the visuals.

Arrival to Earth was perfect. It captured the feel of larger than life heroes arriving to save the day.

The battle music is great too. I love Forest Battle for making Optimus' lone stand even more epic. Battle from DotM is great too, really made me love the Dreads chase even more.
Optimus1138
Awesome! I loved his scores for the first 3 movies. They were one of the best parts of the series.
jazzbot180
This is great news
