Soundwave Confirmed for Transformers 2

i'm gonna chant leader class soundwave until it happens

I can't wait until the day when all I can remember of the Transformers fandom is how for 5 minutes in 1985, they liked Transformers, then proceeded to crap on anything new that came out.

Interesting concept for Soundwave and his attacks was put together by someone in a post movie verse (as they call it) fan fic, where he can emit a series of sound wave frequencies that can near deafen a human and causes other Transformers to loose control and equilibrium, causing them to shake violently and not be able to think straight. Basically leaving them wide open for attack.

For some reason i just had this weird image of Ravage pop into my head with some idiot walking up to him going "Awww its a kitty robot" Then have Ravage pounce on them and rip them to shreads hehe.... i've been eating way to many Skittles.

Excellent, but will he have any AYB lines in the movie?

I think the Balkan is cool for SW. Maybe Bay should pay the guy who made that fan art to use it.

I was thinking maybe of an alt mode that uses sonar, like a submarine, and with this mode he search for Megatron and the other defeated 'cons under the ocean.

Others were a satellite or a spaceship, or something that is use for communication. I dont see him as something that involves music, that was frenzy.

If we got Cullen to do Prime I think we could get Welker to do Soundwave.

I'll put almost everything I have on the line and say that Soundwave transforms into a broadcasting station truck. It fits the character personality, makes a perfect information gathering mode (since news trucks are anywhere there is news) and it would allow various recording equipment to become his pets (lazerbeak a betacam, etc)

A stealth bomber wouldn't fit Soundwave's profile, and would fit Skywarp better.

Now all we need is for Orci to say that Paramount is borrowing the Jurassic Park robotic skeletons for a week of shooting, and I'll be VERY happy. (wink wink)

Bah, in retro-spect Blackout *IS* Soundwave to me. I know a lot of people were bitching that "he HAS to be a TAPEDECK!!!" but Blackout basicly arrived in that first scene, droped that sonic bomb, launched Scorponok, and kicked ass. After that he pretty much dissappears from the movie only to be taken out by an RP to the crotch.

Since so much of the movie was done in post, and there was soo much online bitching. I'm sure that first scene could have been like, "Scorponok: Eject! Operation: Decimate!"

Oh yeah, Blackout IS Soundwave to a tee. He is silent. He is methodical. He infiltrates enemy communications. Even Blackout's face is highly resemblant of Soundwave's face along with the forehead design. He IS Soundwave.

This is where I think the fans had TOO much input. I don't know who the powers that be are, but they listened to the wrong people. I mean, what matters more - that Soundwave is a tape deck or that Optimus Prime has lips and a flaming paint job? There is no REASON for Soundwave to be a tape deck in the year 2008 when people don't even know what one is. And frankly, I think the fans would rather have designs that stuck more to the mythos instead of bird-scream, Bull-hide, Walrus-ratchet, etc rather than Frank Welker and Peter Cullen. At least I would have.

Blackout was the perfect choice for Soundwave. They did that character perfectly to a tee - except Scorponok of course. The first movie had so many missed opportunities.

Yeah, put me down as another who unashamedly liked movie Megatron. I'm no stranger to G1 at all, and for my money movie Megs, personality-wise, wasn't too far removed; he was angrier and more aggressive, but he still maintained that brand of larger-than-life, arrogant superiority and impetuousness that I remember from the old movie. Hell, he even looked enough like Megatron for me; sure, a proper fusion cannon would have added a lot, but the broad, square-ish chest, wide feet and distinctive helmet design were Megatron enough for me to fill in the gaps myself.

Starscream is trickier, because we saw so very little of him. I grew to love his look, but a lot hinges on the personality, and we've yet to see that in action; still, the fact that Orci is fishing the fanbase for classic Starscream lines suggests that we will see that old-school personality come into play too. I loved the first movie, I'll make no secret of it; if they render Soundwave in the same way they did with Megs and Starscream, I'll be more than happy. After all, if I want pure G1, I still have my DVDs...

Ha ha, yea we thought the never ending war was Autobots vs Decepticons or Maximals vs Predicons, but the real never ending war is fan vs fan. Maybe Bot Con could rent some of those oversized Sumo costumes one year so they could have a fan vs fan battle royal for charity.

Just an evil of being a fan that someone is going to be mad because you are enjoying something. Look at the bright side you can't find a live action Transformers fight every day or an Animated fight every day but it's not a problem to find a fan fight any time you want

Since Soundwave was suposed to beam energy into Megatron's body with the help of the stored Allspark energy and the Matrix, again from the first draft...

I don't really care who they put into the movie, so long as for the next two they stay true the the characters, and actually flesh them out enough to be real. That being said, Soundwave and Ravage should make for some excellent scenes, wonder what alt modes they'll give these guys..there's enough to choose from that's for sure.

Bay's misinformation is for your average movie blog site or tabloid, your typical rumourmill stuff (eg. the new Indiana Jones movie being called City of Gods, one of five fake titles registered with the MPAA for the movie). What Orci and Bay actually say, or a proper newspaper or journal reports, though, is definitely true.

Some of us like bots and parts of all the generations. Hard to fight a fan on fan when you agree with their likes.

Awesome, glad he's confirmed... don't care what his alt mode is, as long as it's something gnarly, and he still has something approximating that classic voice. I think most Transfans would agree that Movie Soundwave deserves something more hardcore than being a tapeplayer or Cybertronian lamppost

I think if you could go out and poll the entire range of people who consider themselves Transformers fans then you'd find a mix of likes and dislikes across the fan base. Most of them aren't bothered with their fellow fans having different tastes. But then you find those looney fans that can't rest until everyone either loves or hates the things they do.

Maybe for one of the big oversized Sumo matches they could get one of those fans that cry hate hate for not being G1 enough vs one of those fans that use the box office numbers as some sort of battle cry.

What? NO! If Soundwave is not a lamppost in the movie then i'm not gonna watch the movie. XD
I really want to see a good rendition of him, bad ass alt.mode, bad ass attitude, major role in the plot, i dont know if he should sound like G1 soundwave but i will be lying if i say i dont want to hear it like in the old series ^^.

An idea that ran through my head when I hear of Soundwave a stealth bomber was this:

Rumble is one of those 'bunker buster' bombs that can punch through several layers of concrete and steel to reach his targets.

Laserbeak is one of those small UAV's (like the ones they use on SG1 for checking each planet)

And had they not used him, Frenzy could have been some kind of cluster bomb.

Should they go a ground based mode, Tim, I'm rather hoping some clever cookie from ILM sees and likes your design and your phone starts to ring.

I think Soundwave for TF2 is a good idea in theory, but I'll save the rejoicing until we see what he looks like and how well or bad he comes across on screen once Bay is done with all of his erratic camera shots.

Whatever happens, put me in the group that hopes that *this* role will be more to Bay's liking for Welker to handle.

Actually to me Blackout was more like Vortex. At least physically. Both Vortex and Blackout were the same style of helicopter and the same color too.

Their's no way Soundwave will look any worse then Megatron did. I refuse to believe that.
But yea Megatron was as generic as they came. Fortunately most movie goers don't even remember his name.

i think welker could do a good job with this character, the producers and bay probably will need another fanwank bone to throw at us like cullen was in Tf1, and welker's soundwave was his most iconic Tfs voice (yes, even more thaan megatron) i really hope they decide to cast him for the part.

i somehow remember this being confirmed ages ago, or at least confirmed that they really wanted to put him in. either way, awesome. and yeah if he's comedic relief they will ruin it.

Sweet! I always pictured SW being a black Escalade for some reason but will most likely be a military vehicle. I'm thinking Ravage could be a smaller vehicle like a quad or something.

Also Rumble would be sweet. He could knock down a bridge that some Autobots and humans are on.
