Soundwave Confirmed for Transformers 2

Maybe he'll be a lamp post, like his Cybertronian mode shown in MTMTE. The Casseticons could be different lightbulbs that attach to him.

This doesn't mean he'll be the Soundwave we remember. He might not even be the same character or even the same color. Maybe he'll have the face of a crab.

Just be cautious in seeing that Soundwave is in the movie, then thinking that he will be the same character you're imagining.

I've been begging for Soundwave and now he is going to be in the movie. Wonder who is going to play Soundwave, what vehicle he will be and what he will look like.

Soundwave will have as much in common with his previous incarnations as, oh, Megatron and Starscream did.

OPERATION: LOWER EXPECTATIONS.

They may not have gotten Welker to be Megatron in the 1st movie, and even though Jeff Bennett did a pretty ok job as Soundwave in TF: Animated.. they'd BETTER GET FRANK FOR SOUNDWAVE THIS TIME AROUND.

I would assume so. Soundwave's head could work great movie-styled.

They gave the chicken legs to Starscream. I think most likely Soundwave will have either crab legs or maybe kangaroo legs. This will make him that much more dynamic as he either jumps with his kangaroo legs to launch himself into jet mode, or crab legs as he wades into the water. This should also appease all the BW-wunners. Of course, he won't have a faceplate as we all were taught by the movie producers that people couldn't relate to robots without mouths. I picture full-bodied lips should do him justice.

Soundwave's a Decepticon, remember? He doesn't have to have a mouth like the Autobots because you're not supposed to relate to the bad guy. Also, they never "gave" Starscream chicken legs, his movie version always had those legs. Then again, you're obviously one of those people who have already decided to hate Transformers so there's no point.


I'm not totally sold on the idea of Soundwave for TF2, though. I think he would look great, but I just wish they didn't have to use all G1 characters. I was hoping for some variety. Then again, Soundwave's just one of the new 'Cons, who knows how many will show up.

How silly of me, I forogt. Thank you for pointing out that most obvious of details of story telling. The antagonist should just be an evil monster of pure evil-ness with no relatability who only says "Eat babies".

I imagine at the very least his alt mode will have something to do with music and he'll have one or more symbiotes. Anything more than that is unnecessary as long as he's awesome-looking, IMO.

G1 is what the average person is more familiar with. Granted die hards would like to see other series but the average person needs characters they remember.

Well I'll reserve any enthusiasm I may have for this news until I see Soundwave.
I'm just afraid he'll look as stupid as Megatron...I just hope I'm wrong.

Such mixed feelings.

On one hand he's always been a really cool character from G1 to Animated so he's a bot that lots and lots of fans want to see. Heck even the fans that can't remember his name were asking me if the tape deck one would be in the first movie.

On the other hand there really isn't anything postive you can say about the Decepticons from the first movie so I've got this really bad fear he will just show up in the movie so some of the humans can kill him off with Soundwave only having one or two lines in the entire movie. Also the problem of the movie look where the jumble of parts and animal look made it hard to know who the character was borrowing a name from. Instead of cool right hand ninja bot of Megatron for all we know he might just be a bigger Frenzy.

Die hard, hey that's us since we are grown men and women talking about Transformers over the internet. And hey hasn't one of the big worries been Transformers 2 more of the same only with bigger explosions. I think it's great the writers at least want to do more for the old fans instead of the franchise just being new fans only with only a few Easter eggs for your years of following these characters in their various forms.

It's exciting that we are getting Soundwave and we might be getting Ravage, but where is the talk and excitment about how we might actaully get a Transformers story the second time around. That I might find the second movie watchable even as much as I hate the look of the first film sounds like something to be excited about.

I'm not going so far as to hope to like a Micheal Bay film, but I'd like to at least feel like I broke even with what I payed to watch the film.

Actually, I'd quite like Corey Burton to do him. I always thought Soundwave and Shockwave should have swapped voices...

That was probably my biggest problem with the Decepticons from the movie, (beside the fact they utterly fail at military strategy, and can be killed by humans). They were nothing more then monsters.
Barricade and Starscream were the only two interesting Decepticons in the movie and they had almost no lines at all.
I have no faith in Micheal Bay movies. Now IronMan; that was great movie.

Yeah, with a name like Soundwave there's only so much he can be while still making sense. It seems that that was a theme in the last movie for characters like Barricade, Bumblebee, Devastator, Blackout, etc.

I'll admit, Soundwave ending up looking like movie Megatron or Starscream scares the heck out of me. I hope they keep his color, face and minions in mind when designing him. Other than that, the alt mode can be whatever.

Most people's instinctual reaction was disgust, shock, sadness, loathing, or all of the above. And instincts aren't usually wrong.

Before you go berating me for my use of the word "most", go pull up the first thread that had a picture of Starscream and see the responses.

That always annoyed me about Gen 1. That's why I LOVE TF: Animated. Starscream was FAAAAAR more sleazy in the beginning, before he became a slapstick zombie.

But Gen1 Megs was the stupidest of idiots. Why the autobots feared him is beyond me, coz one gunshot in his direction, he'd run away, cowering at the club house for Wussie Dictators, along with Skeletor and Cobra Commander.

Soundwave and ravage is the best thing that could happen to this film.

I just hope I live long enough that one of these days my mind starts failing and I can totally forget how they looked and acted in the movie.

Soundwave needs to be voiced by Frank Welker - he sounded great on that Robot Chicken episode only because Frank was playing the role.

Heck no, I loves 'em both. Toy vehicle mode designs could be better, though.

actually the best thing woulda been if we had a totally different director and writing team to make the first one and then i could actually be excited for soundwave and ravage.

I've said the same thing, shadow panther. I don't believe that Orci, Kurtzman, and Kruegher would just be able to talk so openly about what is in the next film - I mean, didn't Bay put them in "Hotel Hell" while they were writing? And don't writers sign clauses on their contracts where they aren't allowed to say or reveal certain things, or else they'd get sued? And hasn't Shia said in recent interviews that he can and has, gotten reprimanded for revealing certain things about the sequel and that he hates getting reprimanded.

I'm trying to not even react much until the trailer for the second film comes out. IF this is true, I've seen many fan renderings of what Soundwave should look like (a Balkan vehicle)and I think that particular rendering is perfect. Also, IF this is true, I hope he retains his vocoder/synthesizeresque voice that he had in G-1. We'll see a little over a year from now.

MGX, you are very correct. Afterall, Ratchet turned out to be yellow-green, and his face and head were somewhat triangular shaped, and his face looked like a lion's, and all the other transformers for the most part, had animalistic faces.

I'll say this, though - whoever made that fan rendering of a movie Soundwave that transforms from an M-6 Balkan was pretty good, IMO.

I think it comes down to Paramount about what is going to be hush hush and what's kosher to talk about in the end they are people who are writing the checks so they get the last word on anything.

Bay can start a disinformation plot if he likes, but unless Paramount orders everyone else to take part then Orci, Kurtzman, and Kruegher only have to take part if Bay gets them to agree with his plan.

Plus while they always have stories about someone getting in trouble for letting spoilers leak out the studios actually love leaks because it's a cheap way to build buzz on a film. Costs zero bucks and you have your fan base turned into an army of ad people. Throw out a little slap on the wrist here and there like the studio if really upset over spoilers for the spoiler free part of your fan base and it's all golden.

Just look at how they were so spoilers must be stopped at all costs on the new Indie movie only to have the toy line spoil things left and right. Transformers toys will likely do the same thing on Transformer 2.
