Rumor - Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Filming In Cambodia

This is a story not many knew. Few weeks back at Michal Bay Forums, user EastwoodClinton posted a news piece from Cambodia (copied below this article). The news said that Transformers: Dark of the Moon is to be filmed in Cambodia. Cambodian Minister of Information told the press that DOTM filming will continue at the Angkor Wat temple complex. No info came after that.

Today, TFW2005 member RebelMan posted some images he found, which are rumored to be from a Transformers 3 filming which happened recently.

Nothing is confirmed at the moment other than the Cambodian news piece.

Update: We just received a tip linking to a YouTube video of a film crew at the Angkor Wat temple complex. A comment by the uploader says the DOTM filming went through the whole day. Thanks to 168Nara of YouTube!

“Transformers 3” is the third part of the well-known science-fiction movie about TRANFORMER robots defending the earth.

“We want to shoot in Cambodia as it is one of the most beautiful countries around. With both Angkor Wat and Cambodia’s natural wonders, we will be able to maintain the large production scale of TRANFORMERS while giving the impression that the story is traveling all around the planet earth,” said Mr. Nicholas Simon in his letter addressed to Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith.

This production will highlight the beauty the Angkor Temple Complex to a worldwide audience, he said, adding that it is estimated that over 500 million people have seen the previous two Transformers and with TRANFORMERS 3, millions more will discover the beautiful landscapes and cultural heritage of Cambodia.

Mr. Simon also recalled his good experiences in film production working in Cambodia on projects such as ORACLE, Matt Dillon’s CITY OF GHOSTS and Legendary Pictures’ I AM THAT MAN. –AKP

well, it's a film crew alright, but I'm not recognising anyone or anything to suggest transformers just yet.

yeah it has been for a long while. i've been seeing some footage posted from folks just recently from when they were filming in Chicago last year & same goes with photos as well on flickr. think some folks are just now getting around to posting/sharing them on the web to clear their cards/drives to make room for new stuff.

I can't see any reason to think these are from DOTM.

Desperate 11th hour reshoots in a country they didn't shoot in with no vehicles, no recognizable actors and a crew that looks Cambodian as well...

If the tags do in fact indicate this is transformers, I'm going to say it's probably a publicity stunt. It makes no sense for this to be DOTM stuff.

We'll see.

Edit: Also those lights are awfully small for night exteriors on a Hollywood movie. They'd very likely use bigger lights placed further away to decrease the chances of the lights being in the way/restricting the shots.

Why would they still be filming 3 to 4 months before it's theatrical release?

Besides, doesn't even look like it's for a TF movie. It's a film crew, a girl, a guy and it's in a street......

I doubt is and invasion scene (no fire works/ explosions) this MAY be when Megatron comes out of hiding, BUT there is no vehicle of his either,,, Maybe a Starscream scene?? those DO look like ruins in the vehicle,, hmmmmm and there IS no human interaction in this filming,,,, BUT its defanetly NOT an action scene

Sound wave arrives BEFORE the movie, Remember the game IS a prequel right, ok and sound wave arrives on earth during the game, so thats not possible

Hmmmmm... to be honest with you all... I'm not getting excited from seeing that video clip. It shows a big Technocrane swinging left to right and over again. Many movie companies use Boom's, Jib's and cranes. So this could be any movie company over the world.

Even I'm trying to build myself one. 4 Meters in lengt with the use of an old Wind surf mast, iron cables for stability, an old re-enforced tri-pot... the only thing I'm still struggling with building the pan tilt unit.

if it is tf3, then its probably a scene where a bunch of autobots/decepticons are chatting.but NO cars, and NO explosions. makes you doubt.

i think it might perhaps be pickups for cgi only characters on live action backgrounds.
from the DOTM video game trailer it looks like they were in cambodia.

im guessing a few short scenes, but damn its a bit late considering theres only a few months to the release, not giving ILM much time to fill the scenes!
