wheeljack.jpgI understand that the Saab Aero-X will be a new version of the transformer character called “WheelJack”. Wheeljack has many similiar design elements, especially the notable wrap-around windscreen and white body color.
The irony if this character is chosen to embody the Aero-X concept car, is that “wheeljack”, was apparently a LANCIA vehicle, harkening back to Saab’s past history collaborating with Lancia (Fiat) on both the Saab 600 and 9000 projects.
I wonder if the Saab Aero-X will take on a new transforming routine by converting into a jet, hence the “Born From Jets” tagline or will it turn into the same character as Wheeljack, just a robot or both a robot and an airplane?
It will be interesting as time moves on where and when this Aero-X will be depicted in this film.

Watching the video that they reference with Eric Geers, it definately looks like the SAAB Aero-X part is confirmed. Around the 2:25 mark, he talks about how they just got done talking to Hollywood producers and signing on and getting the Aero-X into one of their upcoming big movies.
I'm bound to rather believe the Wheeljack part of it, although we're far short on confirmation.

Wait wait, the Saab Aero X is being used in the Gi joe movie too, it was shown as one of the movie propos, althoug we haven't seen any scenes with it.
So, both the Hummer HX and the Aero X will be in botgh movies? Tie in? Mere coincidence?

If it's true, I could see it, that is a perfect match for Wheeljack. As it is it might be too close of a match to movie Jazz, but toss on two blue stripes a la Alternators and it'll be a beauty.
But we'll see what happens. April 1 makes me bite my tongue.

We are getting nothing but concept cars here and it makes you think, i bet Bay has a list of car companies drooling to get there concept into the movie.

I agree.
I say all the new cars and jets we've seen in and around the filming are just cars and jets until we start seeing some of the robot concepts. (Saab, R8, Chevy Beat, SR-71, Rice Rockets, Ice Cream Truck)
Hasbro has to have these concepts in their hands already if they are going to have any shot at having new toys out for the opening of the movie.
Their security is probably no where near as ramped up as Bay's
We saw test shots of toys and packaging/merchandise art way more than a year in advance of the 2007 movie.
Hell, I had a FAB Jazz in my hands 7 months before the movie.

April 1st aside, I think this would be an excellent alt for Wheeljack. I do hope they add some stripes to him as well as change his head. I don't think his old head style would fit in with the new look of the bots.
