Rumor - Linkin Park’s Burning In The Skies For Transformers Dark Of The Moon?

Posted on 01-10-2011 at 09:01 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
Linkin-Park-Transformers-3-Dark-of-the-Moon
It’s been a while a rumor got some attention. Can’t blame, with all these toy leaks… there was no chance for a rumor to survive… everything was solid with facts (psst… we even learned the true identity of a certain Mack Truck. Talk about spoilers eh?).

So, let’s turn the Rumor Mill. TFLAMB is reporting that an anonymous source is saying that Mr. Michael Bay (Director of the Live Action Transformers Movies) has chosen another song from the hit rock band Linkin Park for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. This time from their latest album “A Thousand Suns”. The song in question is “Burning In The Skies”. Many TFW2005 Fans speculated that this song is a good choice for Transformers 3.

Since this is a rumor… keep it as such till we get an official confirmation from Linkin Park or Michael Bay. You can listen to a sample of the song via Amazon.

I SO hope this is a rumour.

Never heard the song going to listen to it now glad linkin park is back!!!!
MegaHavok
No original song? LAME!!!! also taking a song from there worse album ever is not a good idea
harrismonkey
Wow, I'm not a big Linkin Park fan, but that's easily the worst yet.
Overhaulimus
Yea, not feeling it for a TF song.
Grimlock_13
That's unfortunate if true. NOTHING off that travesty of an album should ever be spoken of again.
Brainchild
I couldn't care less about Linkin Park, but that song is worse than their usual riff-raff.
Dran0n
That song was devastating.
fallen_revenge
Listened 2 it but it doesn't like ummmm put me. The mood like new divide did with the tech sounds and the guy singing I want another one!!! I hope they make a new song just for DOTM
blackout501st
god i can not stand linclon park. i really hope this rumor is false. why, if the rumor is true, cant they pick a band that actually fits the genera? emo rock band songs and giant robots do NOT mix. they could have at least picked a better song. new divide was at least tolerable.
Dinobot Nuva
I don't see how anybody's surprised when LP had the outro track for the last two movies.

And haters be damned, I think this track fits the mood for DOTM just fine. I love A Thousand Suns because I went into it knowing it was a concept album and specifically bought the hourish long .mp3 version because that's how its supposed to be heard. The whole nuclear holocaust theme has a serious chill to it and I think this'll fit just fine with giant robots gunning down people by the dozens.
prime13
^^^^What he said.

I really would of prefered The Catalyst or Robot Boy, the only two decent songs on that CD. I'd rather they go back to their old stuff...but think of it this way gang, we could of been stuck with Waiting for the End.

Edit: Burning in the Skies isn't horrible, it has potential, I just prefer a new song that sounds like their old stuff.
saberconvoy
no,
oh for the love of GOD PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS RUMOR COME TRUE!

From What little I have chosen to hear from their wreck I think this may be a poor choice for a song. Having said that, I am a big LP fan, or at least I was. Dino, can you explain the,"hourish long .mp3 version because that's how its supposed to be heard", part. Seriously, I consider A Thousand Suns to be the train wreck for the group, but your explanation may help me make a decision to buy the album. Seriously, I have been listening to them since like 1999.

I agree; while I much prefer LP's older stuff (Hybrid Theory and Meteora) I think that A Thousand Suns has a couple of songs that would fit the supposed theme of DotM.
"Wretches and Kings" might have been a better choice, or "The Catalyst," but either way it wouldn't surprise me if LP has a song in this film.

What mood? We have one teaser trailer to go off of.

Fucking hell. This band still exists?

A Thousand Suns isn't composed like a traditional album with an assortment of tracks back-to-back, all of the "tracks" on the album flow together as one single song. Most digital outlets (Amazon, itunes, etc.) offer the "Full Experience" version with the regular album or by itself. I can see how its not for everybody, especially old-school LP fans, but I think the main reason some fans reject the album is because they weren't aware of what it actually is.

The band even uploaded it a week or so before the disk hit shelves, and you can still listen to it from start to finish for free here: A Thousand Suns [The Full Experience]

I won't lie, that did help me accept a few more songs. I started playing Fallout 3 at the same time as the CD releasal, so I used my imagination and it helped soften the blow. But there are still 3 or 4 songs that I just won't listen to, namely "waiting for the end", the last song, and another one where Shinoda sounds like he's a jamacian rapper.

Regardless, I am still missing their sound from before Minutes to Midnight.

My god your peoples miss guided insight into reading between lyrics.... >.> i like linkin park, a lot. I enjoyed a thousand suns. maybe another song for the movie, but it couldbe be messanger, it could be blackout, it could be catalyst. i think its the best choice if were picking off the album.
but yeah. and dont hate, im not picking anybody out, its jsut my opinion, its a good song! ^_^;;

Finally. Some BAD news about Dark of the Moon.

I will be editing this song (like I did Linkin Puke from the last 2) out of DOTM.

Terrible....Boring. This sounds like 10 steps back for them. Did Hanna Montanna wright this for them? I almost that this was the new single for
The Rainbow Bright Live Action Film. LP use to be good...like 10 years ago.
RisingPhoenix86
I dont mind Linkin Park doing the main theme song They did a great job with the ROTF, It fit perfectly, but this one is just horrible. I really really really! Hope this is not true.
DATRAY!!!
Linkin Park again?! Don't get me wrong, they're a great band and all, but I'm starting to dislike them. Seether's Breakdown would be a much better choice. Just like radio stations killed Daniel Powter's Bad Day, the TF movies are killing Linkin Park.
03Mach1
The score is the only music that matters to me.
DATRAY!!!
Just listened to the song. I wish I could unhear it.
Orbital
Really good choice. Perfectly fits the ending of the bay trilogy. I can picture the piano rift at the beginning of the song playing with Primes final speech over it and then the screen going black with credits popping up when the guitar/chester's singing kicks in.

Same. It is an “ending song”. An ending to a war. An ending to a trilogy. End of an era!

for those who actually haven't heard the song and would like to form their own opinions.

....I actually think this might work. I like this song...a lot
Sharktibolt
I love Linkin Park. And I think it's great if they return to do a song for the third TF movie. But

1. I don't really like their new CD. I can't stand half of it, and there's only one song I like (which ironically just might be my favorite by them).

2. I'd rather they make a new song for the movie and not just take one from what I think is their worst CD.
shiftshock
I think the song is OK, but I think maybe this time round they could do something different. Personally I would love for "feed the Machine" by Red to be in TF3 but I know that will never happen. We all have that one song we fill is perfect for TF movies.

I'm curious as to what everybody else would like for TF3?
SoundWave88
I really do NOT like linkin park and hate the fact their music is in every movie, usually as the end credits. And now this is from their worst album???

Dammit Bay, do your kids listen to any cool music??
AutobotJazz4
Hmmm... another Linkin Park Song? It was kinda predictable.

I don't want to be all negative about Linkin Park... I've also got several albums of them... but after listening to this song of their latest album, I am finding the recent songs of the band a whole different kind of music since their album, and my most favourite... "Hybrid Theory".

On that album the guitars where heavy, the drums where harder and the lyrics where stronger. In my opinion... a song from that album would probably fit allot better in a Transformers movie then this "rumored" song.

I think that Mister Bay is a big fan of the band... that's okay with me, but I think that Linkin Park should have a harder sounding stronger song in the upcoming movie then this one.

But... this is my opinion and I don't want to kick mud in the eye of die-hard fans. Linkin Park is a good band with their own style of music... though they deserve a much better song listed within a movie with Hard combat, Heavy explosions and huge robots fighting each other on Planet Earth.
The Bucket Kitten
I just finish listening to the song, it's okay, but it doesn't have the the tone that "What I've Done" and "New Divide" had. Just my opinion.
Cyberwolf1980
By Primus! More Linkin Logs?! Well can't say I'm surprised. Always with sub standard music. How about something of any Fear Factory album (with the exception of the atrocity of Digimortal). Something with a machine like vibe to it.

God I haven't listen to Fear Factory in forever. I would love if they would use "Self Bias Resistor"

But seriously... no more Linkin Park!
TFXProtector
Listened to a sample of it over at Amazon. I get why they want it, it does seem to fit the whole going into space/space race kinda deal, but it just doesn't work for me. Might work well in the movie and for others, just not my bag.
RobotoChan
Oh dear god - that's a pretty dire song. Then again, it is Linkin Park whose musical output has been terrible at best.

I wonder what deals were done behind the scenes to get this song into the film?
Because I can't imaging anybody actually wanting to use this song when there are quite literally thousands of others tunes that could be used, be more suitable and probably be cheaper to license.

My choice would be something from Devin Townsend - perhaps from his Strapping Young Lad project. The City album has some heavy and fast songs which make Linkin Parks efforts sound like a boy band in comparison.
aussiehippy
Only ever liked Linkin Park's first album back when I was a nu-metal teenybopper, can't stand any of their newer stuff, like the two songs in the films so far.

If this rumour is true, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

If I was some kind of a soundtrack wizard who could make any song I like appear over film credits I would probably echo others' preference for more mechanical metal, stuff like Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad, hell, even early Static X or Spineshank
Auto Morph
I can't say I know a great deal about Linkin Park, but I've loved the two songs they've done for the TF movies so far.

Just listened to 'Burning in the Skies' and was just bummed out by how shit and dull it was. I know music is an art form and everyone has their own tastes and opinions... but I don't like it.
Lurkertron
Christ save us from this shitty band and their awful music. There is so much quality heavy rock and metal to choose from that would go so great with these films and yet we have to suffer this piss weak pop music. Painfully simple melodies, horrible nu-metal over produced scooped guitar sound, a bit of "emotional" shouting and pathetic rapping. Great.

They do not have the touch and they certainly do not have the power.

Sorry, but I'm sick of them. They're in the same basket as Nickleback as far as I'm concerned.
MeggyAnimated
In my opinion, When they come for me, blackout, the catalyst or wretches and kings is a much better song than Burning in the skies, he's not have the power of the destruction!!!!!
Digilaut
Meh..I thought previous two songs were pretty catchy. Nothing more. But this isn't doing it for me.

But I don't really care.
ichnach
joy, i hope we don't have to stomach more electronic-rock backstreet boys garbage again for this film. Maybe they can write a new song that doesn't say how hurt they are and how it's all someone else's fault...
Cungitron
Well this is hardly unexpected.

Personally i think Fear Factory should have a song or two on the TF soundtracks as their cold, clinical aggression would be perfect for giant robot battles.

Funnily enough Lp's Wretches & Kings uses the same Mario Savio speech excerpt that Fear Factory used on their Timelessness song.
Omnius
Another vote for Fear Factory here. Still it could be worse - remember the Goo Goo Dolls song from the first movie?
RedAlert Rescue
Rollin' by Limp Bizkit always seemed like an obvious choice to me.
