Once again, please be aware there are spoilers in the full story Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Writer Roberto Orci has answered another batch of your questions about the new Transformers Live-Action Movie currently in production. Be warned some of his answers may be considered spoilers, so if you do not want to be spoiled, stop reading now! On Car Chases and Jaw-Dropping Special Effects Sequences FreddyGruesum asked:
Will there be any car chases involving vehicles transforming to robots then merging back to vehicle in a matter of seconds to avoid cars and things like that? Answer - All signs point to definitely maybe! Poho also asked about the potentially jaw-dropping special effects sequences:
are there any scenes in the script that you are REALLY excited to see once the CGI is complete?are there any scenes that you know will make the audience say "HOLY EFFENSHITE"? Answer - Without a doubt. During the writer's strike, Bay was pre-visualizing Transformers sequences from our treatment (mine, Kurtzman, and Kruger). Even just seeing the animatics, we were all blown away. Plot and Story Questions Wazzpinator asked:
Sorry if this question spoils to much, but will there be tons of robot deaths again? (i.e, are nearly all the 'cons going to bite it again?) Answer - Everyone lives happily ever after... The Mad Artist asked:
Any hints on if the movie is going to start with a bang as the first one did? Or would you guys go for more of a build up this go around?
Can you give us any ideas on the public's knowledge of the Transformers at the start of this? Answer - A mix of the two. More mythology in this one.
don't wanna give away state of public's awareness... central question for sure... About the Characters DragonCrash asked:
Do you already have names for the vehicles you're using during the shooting? Say, the infamous ice cream truck. If you want it to be taken from Point A to Point B, do you just call out, "Bring the ice cream truck over here!" or does it have its own Autobot or Decepticon name that you call it by? Or even a codename? Answer - They're referred to by their character names! Nevermore followed up by asking:
Are those working names, or are you working with them under the assumption that they will remain the final names in the actual movie? Answer - Assuming they're final. NitrogenB asked:
ORCI, is Soundwave, since you've already confirmed him to be IN the movie if I'm not mistaken, the only blue Transformer in color? Answer - Don't know yet. Digilaut asked about the variety of alternate modes for the Autobots, since there seem to be a lot of sports cars currently seen in the leaked photos:
Judging from photos circulating the internet, it seems most of the Autobot force is made out of Chevrolet concept vehicles. I understand that, from a business point of view, having a car company as a sponsor really helps out a movie like this, but:
should I be worried the Autobot faction is entirely made up out of cool new snazzy Chevies?
What I have always liked about Transformers is that the Autobot faction seems to be a ragtag group of cars (truck, ambulance, jeep, beetle, etc. etc.), I fear this feeling could be totally lost if all the new bots are cool-looking sportscars and concept cars. Answer - We got SOME variety... Barricade? Veloxiraptor brought up the subject of Barricade, the Decepticon police car who was last seen en-route to the final battle of the first movie but never made it there:
More than one person has asked here if we'll find out about Barricade's fate in the second movie, but that's been covered in the Reign of Starscream comics (which I'd imagine are intended to be canonical). Answer - Indirectly, it shall be deducible from the story and possible fodder for other media (comic or Toon). Filming Alienbot commented:
Well they are filming in Jordan, but I wonder if this will be second unit again like when they filmed the wide shot for the Arctic. The response - First unit, this time.... I believe In filming, the second unit usually works on things like scenery shots, while the first unit films scenes involving the main cast. Does this imply some overseas on-location filming? well that really didnt give away much when are we going to find out who the characters are
Fort Max:
There were spoilers in that? Seemed like vagueness city to me, population: something or other.
Sol Fury:
Well, everyone's opinion is different. The point is, some might consider the replies spoilers, so best to give warning rather than let someone spoil themselves by accident.
Vladakris:
Most of the questions, were common knowledge. Dont think I saw any spoilers. Its like stuff we already knew, asked again............
Nevermore:
Personally I like how Bob is trying to make this more of an easy-going chit chat round than a tightly moderated question-and-answer session. Although he's mostly here to promote the Transformers sequel, he also doesn't seem to mind discussions about his other projects, and even personal interests and general industry insider tales. Makes him come across as quite the likable chap. I'd rate him up right there with Jorge Garcia and Terry O'Quinn from "Lost" at the Fuselage boards. Rquiem: Quote: |

| Maybe i dont read it right, but does this anwser mean that Barricade wont be explained in the second movie? than please someone explain what happend in the comics.
Its kind of dumb, lazy even, to say we should go through other media to get a complete story if we want to or not.
Its like having Gandalf face Balrog but dont explain what happend during/after the fight, and have Jackson say go read the book/comic to find out what happend.
Its just bad.
Nevermore:
Depends on what comic you're reading.
Movie Adaptation - Prime kills Barricade along with Bonecrusher (as was originally planned in the script).
Reign of Starscream - Ironhide makes Barricade crash against a bridge column. Starscream later returns to find Barricade having already started to repair himself. Barricade is later seen eavesdropping on Sector Seven. (Haven't read issue 5 yet.)

RoS is part of a continuity that envelopes the final movie itself, and builds upon it. Loose ends from RoS will continue on into Destiny, which will set the stage for RotF.
Waveride:
Im really confused about the Barricade issue and if they don't use him in the sequel what a lame and stupid waste of opportunity. "We got cooler bots this tie around"...who gives a fudge, i just want to see the main ones come back and the story to be continued/explained where they left off some plot holes in the first.
Ravenxl7:
We've seen his alt-mode at a couple known filming locations, so chances are he's gong to be in the sequel. For how long, not sure.
Waveride:
Where have we seen him exactly besides on the trailer being driven around LA months before filming even started. I haven't heard anything or seen him since.
Incepticon:
I guess we should be thankful that these guys-who-happen-to-have-provided-TF-movie-scripts (sorry, I can't call or consider them 'writers') even remember who Barricade is considering the way he just disappeared from the first movie. Then again, with the superior attention to detail they paid to those little things like character names *cough*, they could very well assume we're inquiring about Brawlcrusher.

Sol Fury:
The way I choose to interpret the response on Barricade:
"He'll be dealt with in the Movie, but we're not going to spoon-feed the explanation, but if you read into it based on what else is going on, it will all make sense."
In other words, don't expect anyone to say exactly what happened or to see a flashback, but it may be alluded to. Then possibly the whole story gets told in some other medium.
SmokescreenGT:
So, in other words, Barricade will probably appear in the sequel, but what excatly happened to him during the finale of Part 1 will not be explained in any great detail. Good enough for me. Hopefully, Prowl will come along and kick his tailpipe back to Cybertron.
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
Thanks for the details of the comics for those who posted about them.
I look forward to hearing some real new news about TFTM2, which hopefully we'll have by November when media promotion (i.e. teaser trailer, etc.) for the movie is purportedly coming out. I'm interested to know whatever I can about the characters ahead of time but don't want to become too exposed to the plot (which hopefully there will be a bit more of...).

Unfair...
