Roberto Orci - Soundwave will not be a Pick Up In Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

Posted on 10-18-2008 at 05:17 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie (Just Movie) (All Transformers Movie News)
RobertoOrci
Roberto Orci has revealed some further information about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on our 2005 Boards. He states that some of the leaked TFW insider information may be misinformation. Specifically, he states that Soundwave is not a pick up truck, although he doesn't rule out Soundwave being a truck of some kind.
On the subject of misinformation, Roberto mentions that the false information generally has not been working very well, in fact he says it usually does not work.

In other postings, he stated that the "Fallen" in the title may be a robot, or just a synonym for the defeated side. We can also look forward to fights like the Freeway Brawl in the first movie between Optimus Prime and Bonecrusher, only longer this time around. There's also a good chance we might see a Decepticon who is ridiculously loyal to Megatron and the Decepticon cause. Just don't expect it to be Tidal Wave - Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and the other writers just could not fund a way to make him work in the sequel's story.

Sounds like Shockwave to me!!!!!!!

Makes sense, there will most likely be an Ironhide toy on the shelf when ROTF happens, So another Pickup might confuse parents.
frenzyrumble
so it's sage to say our "TFW insider" is spreading misinformation or what?

We've been fed for weeks info and rumors from a "reliable source" to only learn a major rumor called "false" by Robert Orci...
Ravenxl7
Hmm...a pickup did sound a bit odd for Soundwave imo, so this is good news for me. Maybe a communications truck of some kind? As for the extremely loyal bot to Megs, sounds like Shockwave to me. Would be awesome to have him in the Movie, imo.
unicronsupreme
I hope shockwave would be a copter and a gun turret like in the game. That toy would be awesome.

oh wait, they said no triple changers... lame...
Sol Fury
Raven nailed it. Roberto specifically denied a pickup, so maybe he's a communications truck or some other truck.

Besides, nobody can be right all of the time. I trust all the info I hear from our sources but let's face it, there have been times when we have heard something but plans have changed.

The thing is, we would never report something we were not confident about. But even we slip up from time to time. However, we do not actively try to spread misinformation - there is nothing for us or for you to gain by doing that.
Seawing
I'm betting the ice cream truck is Soundwave; think about it. It does use sound to entice the kiddies....

ZOMG this is misinformation 2 LUZ

i'm thinkin' soundwave ends up going from a satellite to one of those NEST hummers actually... he's a recon kinda guy, so him going under cover and blending in with the NEST operation seems fitting. plus, it would solve the writer's problem of "what the hell are we gonna make soundwave transform into" by writing him into that part of the script. not to mention GMC's previous publicity of their H3 Hummer being in the movie. sounds probable to me...
Spiderus Prime
Sounds like A Beast Wars Chartcher is in this movie.
SmokescreenGT
I'm glad Soundwave won't be a pick-up. It just didn't fit him well for an alt mode. One of those NEST hummers would be cool, though, and it would be easy for the filmmakers to hide that one of them is Soundwave by simply saying that they're all just regular human vehicles.

i think everyone will understand this, but you guys really shouldnt say "confirmed" from an annonymous source....and allthough you guys might know his job title, you dont know him personally (im assuming)

I imagine that the TFW staff knows who this insider is and has confirmed it - otherwise they would lose a lot of credibility in terms of frontpage news.
Starscreamer95
I guess Shockwave!!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Has everybody forgotten that G1 Cartoon Soundwave was a loyalist here?

And that traditionally he's at least put on the facade of being a loyalist in the comics - as in he's loyal to whoever he sees will put him in the best position, but doesn't backstab to claw his way up the totem pole?

(So - he would be loyal to Megatron until Megs got overthrown, whereupon he would be loyal to the new top dog if he thought that top dog would benefit him better)
Paradigm-Shift Prime
So 'The Fallen' well might not be the character then. Never made sense to me.
samtheman
Thank you!!! When I heard Soundwave was just going to be a pick up truck a little piece of my soul died.

Oh and for all of you who thought the misinformation campaign was false, ha!

Yeah, pipe dream, probably. But still...
omegagoalie
My first thought was Lugnut. That would be soooooo sweet.
uraydo
Does this mean, that I won't be called a troll when I question the all knowing wisdom of the the great and powerful "TFW TF2 Insider"?

anyone else feel lied to?

Cool Soundwave won't be a pick-up, I hope.
Tash
...and we're sure that Roberto Orci isn't in on Bay's misinformation campaign?

Who can you trust?
Bahamut Prime
If that's true, then it's good to hear! I was worried at first!
shroobmaster
Really, a loyal wacko just GOT to be Lugnut, no matter what kind of fan you are, no matter how much you hate TFA, you can't say Lugnut ISN'T the most loyal to Megatron Decepticon EVER! It's not just loyalty, it's true worship.

Inferno was pretty loyal in BW but I doubt anyone on these forums considers Beast Wars Transformers.
Optimatron
I'm happy to hear that Soundwave is not a civilian truck. Any kind of military truck I'm down with. I honestly thought that the Fan art that was seen after the first movies release, with him being a communications vehicle, was awesome. I hope they picked something along these lines for Soundwave.

Surely Inferno is loyal but Lugnut clearly is alot more fanatic than Inferno, hell, the only reason Inferno was loyal was because of his brain getting messed up, Lugnut is perfectly sane(?) and a complete fanatic.

Plus there's the whole thing about a bomber making alot more sense than a ant in Bay's movie.

That is what I'm talking about. If we see Inferno somehow, with a dead-on voice actor, it would kick ass.
Moy
MOst likely Soundwave is the Hummer H3, and as for chevy beat and Chevy trax, they are the twins, or icecream trucks revealed during early shots. This atleast is my theory.
DeceptiKreep
That's cool news. I can go either way on the Soundwave = truck thing. I would love him to come on and tell us that Arcee will NOT be made up of 3 motorcycles ... that I need to hear!

Well I mean Inferno doesn't have to be an Ant just because he was an Ant in Beast Wars. Although his "royalty" catch phrases would have to be reworked I could see him being a Fire Truck possibly. Any who, I'm just throwing ideas around so it's honestly something not to get to worked up about.
The Madness
Good news so far. Its hard to imagine an appropriate alt mode (cars are for 'bots! ) but I'd take a submarine over a truck
SKowl
Maybe the TFW TF2 Insider slipped in that thing about Soundwave turning into a pickup to make fans so angry that they would accept the satellite mode more easily.
vektsilver
Thank Primus that he is not a pickup truck. It would have been to small most likely and secondly just doesnt make sense.

Soundwave of all the Transformers is probably the hardest to pick an alt mode for. Of all the fans and people thinking up ideas for him no one person has had an idea that everyone said "ya thats perfect " . The closest I have heard was that blue reconnaissance vehicle that goes with the fan art sound wave.

This is probably the most interesting alt mode and toughest there will be

good luck movie folk

I'll just reserve any judgement till after I've seen the movie.

Misinformation of not, this is good news to me. I never liked the pick-up idea anyway.

The whole "balance between technology and nature" thing threw many people off, although I think most would agree that it's hard to argue against the gritty plot and fantastic script and acting. And it had more to do with the original series than any the Armada, Energon and etc...

Aaaaaaaanyways. I don't see Inferno. It'd be fun. Only if Megatron is resurrected, and Inferno retains his crazed mental state, and referring Megatron as royalty.

G1 Inferno might be cool too, but I don't know. I really can't find a place for him in the team. Maybe Perceptor...

Back to the topic. Soundwave not being a pickup is a good news. Although I still think that he should be the International Space Station.
alien
By the way, soundwave in another mode is better as well...

You're thinking of Beast Machines, not Beast Wars.

People liked Beast Wars and loathed Beast Machines.

Although I will agree with a lot of the positives of BM.

Eh. The whole "feel the nature" thing was definitely in Beast Wars, just not as prominent and out loud like Beast Machines. As much as Beast Wars like me hated Beast Machines (I'm kinda getting warming up to it), it's still part of the same story.

Hmmmm. If Soundwave is not a pickup. Is the idea Soundwave having dual alternative form still valid?

*for the record, I liked Beast Wars Inferno not because he was suckup to Megatron, but because he was just so insane.

yes, we must have faith that the insider loves us and does what's best for us. he truly is a benevolent poster.
