As well as posting right here at TFW2005 on our 2005 Boards, Transformers screenwriter Roberto Orci also has a long-running Question & Answer thread at Don Murphy's message board. In recent days, Roberto has answered several questions that provide some further excitement to fans. Among the details revealed are:

* With many of the Decepticons being CGI, there is more freedom to add scenes in post-production. Adding extra scenes with Transformers is currently under consideration.
* As a follow-up, Roberto said one extra scene being considered was director Michael Bay's idea with Bay saying, "You and the fans are gonna love this..."
* Starscream's character will be more similar to his Generation One self.
* Roberto states that Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's comments in Empire that there are around 40 robots was not an exaggeration.

Blackout:
In another thread there was mention that Starscream might bring Megatron back.

Might be a dumb question but Any chance SS wants to bring him (Megs) back to take on The Fallen? Maybe SS wants to see Megatron get defeated again but his plans fail.

That's probably way out there. Sorry.
protostar8:
I'm gonna go ahead and say it...this is gonna be a clusterf***. 2.5 hours = 150 minutes (I'm guessing that the movie will be around this long after credits and such are taken out). 40 robots over 150 minutes is about 4 min a robot, if there was no story at all involving humans. That likely means it'll be just like the G1 cartoons that the movie fans complain about, meaning the movie will have a bunch thrown in just for the sake of having them there. Basically little to no character development for most. The fight scenes will hopefully not suffer from so much scrap metal moving around...

A whiny, cowardly, stupid idiot who plots in plain view of the very target he hopes to overthrow? I hope not.

Agreed. TF: Animated is hands down the best version of Starscream. Sneaky, cunning, ambitious, and dangerous enough to pose a serious threat even when outnumbered.

That's from a toy box, which, if the previous toyline is any indication, has little to do with the movie plot.

You are forgetting having to buy 40 plus variant toys....

or what if The Fallen is awakened, and the only way to defeat him is to resurrect Megatron.
Blackout:
Yep... that's what I was thinking.

I know. I just wanted to point that out to the person I quoted.
Autobotknight08:
So yeah my wallet did not take the news of 40+ new robot action figures very well. He has begun writing his last will and testament. Please pray for him that most of them are deluxe size. We can only hope for the best. the rest is in hasbros hands.
Oric:
Considering that Devastator is apparently comprised of 9 robots all on his own, it isn't that much of a stretch to consider having 40 robots total in it. I love the idea that starscream is going to be a little more like his G1 because his turkeybot mode is hard to humanize, if he is meant to be the new decepticon leader that is.
Beastbot X:
On a side note, isn't the image for this story on the front page of Alex Kurtzman, not Roberto Orci? Or do I have them mixed up?

It's Orci.
Autovolt 127:
yes!!!!!
Alexander Quinn:
Yay for vague yet slighty addictive nearly confirmed cloak-n-dagger style rumors! Makes me nervous that we're going to "love" something so spectacular that it wasn't even in the script to start with.

2 lines of dialogue, and 1 transmission (I think).

Mister Gone:
So any word on which Autobot poops on who's chest?
Bahamut Prime:
Looks to be goooood!!
$5HotRod:
A more G1-like Starscream? Crap! Crap! And double crap! Movie Starscream was doing well the way he was and now this. I just hope the character doesn't end up being a clusterf***.
mondo:
40 bots. I hope it does not turn out to be like 15 indentical Decepticon drones with the main Autobot team, main Decepticon team and the Fallen. It needs to be 40 individual characters and different renders. But I am ok if they have characters like Starscream and Thundercracker or Bumblebee and Cliffjumpers.
General Tekno:
So what do people have AGAINST cannon fodder characters, in other words "clones" that are variations on existing models? Eg Skywarp, Thundercracker, etc...

I'd be in favor of that.
Ceasar121:
Yeah i'm wondering if the reason Starscream got those tattoos was so they'd have an easy way to distinguish him from other F22 Raptor clones (Skywarp. TCracker, Ramjet?) I hope so, and that Starscream leads an aerial raid bombing the F^&k out of the Autobots.

Also, the G1 Starscream stuff has me kinda like Honestly, I wouldn't mind some of the aspects making it in (backstabber, plotter, condescending jerk), but I really like the spin Mowry has given him... And honestly, to me, that feels like what Starscream always should have been. A deadly, over-confident, yet very efficient warrior, who does things by any means necessary. I hope they don't sacrifice character for g1 fanwank. To me, the g1 cartoons always f'd most of the Decepticon characters up. Bumbling Megs, Starscream turned into a 'plot device', Shockwave totally ineffective... sigh. I hope they stick to the less 'comedic' spin on the Decepticons. The 'realism' was what appealed to me, and I don't want comedy bots running all over the place.

I know I should be happy, but I think I'm more worried.
Julliant:
"More G1" doesn't mean he'll be EXACTLY like G1 like some of you are reacting towards It just means he'll be showing the good aspects of his G1 self, the ones which we like, such as his sarcasm, ego, opportunistic approach etc.

The guy had two lines. There was no way to tell WHAT kind of character he was.

This is what I'm expecting too.
StarSaber:
Actually, I'm thinking we're going to get a scene with the Fallen *on fire*.
It probably won't be a natural ability but he'll probably be in flames for a moment or two
for whatever reason. I think that's the scene Bay's adding.

-SS (assuming, of course, that such a scene didn't already exist)

Exactly and that's the way I liked him.

Remember, the movies are all about the human interaction with the autobots, and the Decepticons are little more than standard movie monsters. That's why there is zero character development, and they look totally different (and scarier). I believe the Decepticons in TF2 will be more like the Klingons from Star Trek, in that they will show a scene or two of interaction to "build character" but really doesn't do much to build any connection (especially since Michael Bay is completely unable to build a rapport between his movie characters in ANY Bay film).
megatronkicksas:
Forty bots make this really interesting.
