Posting on our 2005 Boards, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen writer Roberto Orci has answered another round of your questions, and revealed some interesting facts about Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and its 2007 predecessor.
– Who will voice The Fallen? Bob Orci has teased with who we might hear when this mighty ancient Transformer speaks:
Hey Bob, what are your feelings towards the idea of Leonard Nimoy doing the voice of the Fallen?– Would love it. I actually talked to him about it, given the odd coincidence that he is Michael Bay’s cousin through marriage, but fan outcry has also put [Frank] Welker in the running.
– Additionally, in Revenge of the Fallen, the only reason that returning big bad Megatron is not renamed Galvatron was for the sake of the general audience.
On the subject of the original film, Bob revealed a few of the trials and tribulations that went on behind the scenes –
Movie 1 was the hardest thing they have ever worked on. Period. Nobody could imagine what it was, everyone thought it was just a silly cartoon or a toy commercial, the studio wasn’t sure if the robots should talk, we had to come up with a story that would attract someone like Bay, and we had budgetary constraints that made it necessary to generate a significant human story which was counterintuitive to some Transfans. By the second movie, the paradigm of the franchise was clear. On behalf of the staff, I would once again like to thank Mr Orci for taking the time out of his busy schedule to answer our questions. If you have a question that you would like to ask Mr Orci about either of the Transformers Movies, you can do so in this thread on our 2005 Boards.

If Jetfire should still have an Aussie accent, why not Hugh Jackman?
Bruticus_42
Yes, i concur, Welker as Soundwave and Nimoy as the Fallen
Autovolt 127
I hope Nimoy is The Fallen as long if soundwave is voiced by frank welker it doesn't matter.
Chris B
With any luck it'll be Welker as Soundwave and Nimoy as the Fallen.
And on a side note, I'm glad that they didn't rename Megatron as Galvatron. We barely saw Megatron in TF1, so its way too early for that name change.
Soundwave84
Yeah i would take either one of them. They both do old voices very well.

What
a load
of
crap.
Kaijumaster
I have nothing against Galvatron/Megatron, so long as it is such a HUGE diffrence that it could truly be a diffrent charcter. but a new body/repaint, naw
shroobmaster
What?
G1, RiD, Armada, Energon, Cybertron…
Not to mention it barely makes any sense "HI GUYS I'M BACK, AND NOW MY NAME SHALL BE GALVATRON!"
ganymede2010
Nimoy as the fallen, Welker as Soundwave, and Keith David as Unicron! Come on guys, we need to rally the troops to ensure Keith David is involved in just more then the videogame. His voice is to iconic not to be utilized in this franchise.

"The only reason he's not called Galvatron is for the sake of the general audience who is not aware of the Megatron – Galvatron paradigm "
I'm sure the writers could come up with a way to explain it to the general audience. I'm actually hoping that they are saving the whole Galvatron thing for the third movie and possibly have Unicron too.
Someone said that the whole Megatron/Galvatron thing has been overdone? I'd like to know how? We have not seen it since the G! animated movie as far as I know. If that is considered over doing it then we are in trouble.

Nimoy is doing a con here in 3 months, looks like ill be getting a signed pic of 2 Transformers
Fit For natalie
The fake aussie voice by Brian Drummond (IIRC) was actually for Cybertron. Scott McNeil (who was born in Australia) did Jetfire's North American-accented voice for Armada and Energon.

I kinda like the idea of Nimoy doing Jetfire, I don't think he talks fast enough to be The Fallen, seeing as he seems to be pretty quick with the teleports and what-not. Nimoy playing Jetfire would go with the "old guy" thing. Just listen to his voice in the Star Trek teaser trailer…Dude's old…

This makes me sad.
No. Fran Drescher.
AMG
I would be happy with either choice.
Josh
my thoughts exactly
not that i have anything against Welker but…i just Nimoy would fit better
[Wing_Saber-X]
Nimoy = GOLD.
Welker = meh.
Bay & Nimoy, COUSINS?!! =
Ash from Carolina
Between Nimoy's sense of humor and having several film and television directing credits under his own belt it would have to be funny with Nimoy and Bay at a family reunion.
Herr_Kryo
says a lot about a director. they did not call him galvatron because the audience wantet it to be. poor judgement. a director should not get the audience chouce in his way.
and i was always a fan of the megatron/galvatron storylines
thundrwaveprime
nimoy for fallen.

This piece of news made me smile.
It goes to show that the filmmakers aren't just money-driven fiends who want to bastardize transformers (as so many fans seem to believe)…
and that while the first movie NEEDED to be more base, shallow, and human-centered (to capture the non-fan audience) this second movie looks like it is going to be a HUGE step up technically, artistically, and in terms of fan-friendliness.
And if, like me, you already liked the first movie (well enough), that means that you have a LOT more to look forward to this time.
