Deadline is reporting that new writers for the upcoming series of Transformers spin-off and sequel movies have been hired. Included are Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man writers Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim 2’s Zak Penn, and Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Jeff Pinkner.
The line up is impressive with folks who’ve done some serious work, Kirkman being the most curious but potentially exciting in what he could bring to the franchise. Fresh blood all around seems to be on the agenda for the Movieverse, discuss on the forums and let us know what you think!

It's Bayformers…I wouldn't put it past them.

That would be so stupid and awesome at the same time.

He needs to be named "New Soundwave" and we need a live-action equivalent of this scene.

We don't know ANYTHING. We don't know what the movies will be about, we don't know who the directors will be, we don't know how closely they will tie in with AoE and the previous films, etc.
I really liked AoE, but even though it established quite a bit of lore that has yet to be explored….there's simply not enough meat on the bones of the movie franchise to go full on Marvel Comic Universe.

We don't know who the directors are going to be though.

Interesting list, but bringing in good writers won't amount to squat if the director is just gonna give us more of the same. They're only HALFWAY there.

These writers sound great. I don't know what they'll bring to the franchise, but it should be better than what Ehren Kruger did.
I notice they are all comic-book writers. I don't know if that was deliberate or not, but I suppose since comic books and their film adaptations are more unreal and less serious, it is to be hoped that the upcoming films will be of the same mould.
Anyway, here's wishing these guys success.
(And we will end up debating over what they bring to TF, so here's also hoping most of it we will like)

5th time's the charm eh.

it need more then a good writer to clear the stinky pile that we call bayformer… i'm going to be skeptical about it unless they wipe everything clean and reboot the whole thing with real transformer… but we all know that isnt going to happen.
i wonder why robert would even take this job, he have so much to do its pretty much like asking beethoven to play the piano with one hand tied behind his back.
Macross7
They should do 5 to finish off the Prime finding the creator's storyline then reboot the series.
They've killed off pretty much all the big name recognizable characters. Reboot the series and don't kill them off.

I do love Robert Kirkman, his writing is quite Invincible if I do say so. If somebody like him gets to do their own thing with the Transformers, it could be terrific.
Littlesprimes
The only Transformers stuff I like are the movies, but how in the hell are they going to create a "universe"??? It seems like it would just be sequels to the previou movies.
I know TF has a rich history and what not, but I am so lost. What will be part of the spinoff? Sam? Other Autobots? Decepticons?
Zhadow
I hope I'm not one of them.
Dotmshockwave
pretty much…

95% of everything said in this thread is people talking out their ass.
Galvatron II
Yeah, he's called Michael Bay.
Aaaaaaand therein lies the problem.

^This.

Word.

On the one hand this a positive, but on the other I'd rather they'd use this as an opportunity to start a fresh new movie universe from scratch than trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear…

This is why I was okay with an expanded universe, Bay can't work on everything and neither can Khreuger, so theoretically, sooner or later, ONE of these films will have to be objectively good.
