Last week we got a glimpse of some concept art from Ken Christiansen, showing off early designs for Grimlock. KC has updated again with some more shots, this time of early Lockdown visuals which more closely resemble his Animated feel (Green highlights, muscle car, etc). Check out the shots after the break and hit his FB page here!

Necro Prime
A different take for sure
Mechafire
Robot design looks super generic, glad it wasn't used.

By my god I wish they'd kept the poncho.
nsr46gamer
Oh damn, I actually really dig this design. Keeping his alt mode as a muscle car would've been a nice homage, but I still like the final result as well. But man, what could've been.....
JohnRedcorn
Cape is kinda cliche. I am satisfied with the one that appeared on screen. He comes across as a hunter/solider assasin
JirwemTheGreat
As cool as he was being a Lamborghini in the movie, I have to say, this altmode just seems a little more like Lockdown to me. But maybe that's just me.
Autovolt 127
The poncho is the best thing about this concept design.

I don't really like the rusted colour muscle car....the slick looking Lambo looked better.
Fallout
classic car mode + rotf body + aoe face woulda been the perfect lockdown for me
Ribieconvoy
While it is a neat design, Lockdown's final design was a perfect fit for the movie universe, although I definitely would have loved seeing that muscle car on screen.
Natohk
The robot mode looks weird. But I love the cape !
Jerrymiru
Alt mode does seem more like Lockdown but a little glad they went with the Lambo really.

Maybe you feel that way because of his animated incarnation. After watching him in the trailers and the movie, that Lambo was just right for me.

The only thing I'm not sure of is did his robot mode have the matte black Lamborghini finish on it?

And btw your avatar is
Noideaforaname
Capes make anything cooler.

The old, rusty, partially replaced look is interesting if only because you just don't see that in Transformers. It's all CLEAN, NEW, SHINY, BUY NOW!
Shattered Glass Knock Out, anybody?

EDIT: derp, just remember "evasion" Optimus and DotM Megatron...
raptor22
I bit too General Grievous-ish

Agreed.

The alt mode would have been more traditional for the character, considering his Animated and IDW/RotF versions both use a Muscle Car.

That said... I suppose a super-techy Assassin/Bounty-Hunter would probably benefit from an ultra-sleek sports car... so his eventual alt mode made some sense at least.

But yea... that Poncho.... I want a poncho for my RotF Lockdown, now that I think of it...
Chopperface
Darn, should've kept the poncho.
EnergonWaffles
Channeling too much Starscream with those legs for my taste.

Dig the cape, though.
LegendAntihero
I wish his vehicle mode had an engine on top of his car mode like his Animated counterpart
Unicron9
What happens when Lockdown and General Grievous from Star Wars make a kid.
Timesynch
Neat throwback to his Animated and ROTF toy selves as far as car alt mode goes, but the bot mode is way too General Grievous for my tastes (I think the only robots in the TF universe who can pull off the cape look are G1 Starscream, G1/TFP Alpha Trion, DOTM Sentinel Prime, and DOTM Megatron). I'm glad they went with the final design they did for the AOE movie as I love the creepy cosmonaut assassin look they did go with.
Novaburnhilde
Nice design. The cape is a great touch too.
tonyformer
Looks like general greavous lol.
YanderePrime
Ah. . . General Opti-Kenobi
kjeevahh
Coffee
I am SO glad they didn't use this.

Like the old, rusty muscle car, but Bay needs his car collection for his movies.

If you think about it, Lockdown having an "earth form" at all kinda doesn't make sense anyway. He obviously didn't care much about being seen. And the flying hand isn't exactly subtle.

It does, actually. Not for the sake of disguise, but for transportation. He's chasing robots that turn into cars. He can't just chill in his giant ship the whole time.
Starscream0625
Why, General Grievous, is that you?

No, I said "Earth form" not "vehicle form". Megatron kept his "Cybertron form" the whole 1st movie. A Lambo isn't exactly low profile either. Bay just wanted a Lambo to shoot.
ComfyDeathshot
Love the poncho.
Scorpio
That is just general Grevious with a different face... it doesn't even include any car parts either.

That's my beef - I like the idea of a suped-up classic muscle-car alt mode (as Lockdown is all about self-improvement), but the AOE robot mode was pretty amazing...
SpinalCord

Looks spot-on to the Animated design... wish they went with this concept, it looks way better
Axel990
The robot mode just screams General Grievous.

Looks like someone beat me to it. =P
scourge88
The design is ok but I actually like his robot design in the movie. Glad they went that route, the muscle car however would've still been great.
TheDemonDzko
Gah! I want this! I want this right fucking now! CAPE SWAGGER!
daniel 97
Totally like gen. Grievous
Ring3r
REALLY glad they went with the design that we got.

That concept is just General Grievous with a few muscle-car bits tacked on.

I do like the 70s Mustang alt-mode more than the Lambo....though I think if Lockdown formatted himself into a Mustang, it'd probably be this one:

Rush
I'm a little ify on the character design, do like the cape idea for certain "scenes', but they should have kept that car mode! That looks so much better and closer to what most of us know Lockdown in Animated!! Not sure about the rust, sense he wasn't an Autobot in hiding, but a clean that up and would have been 100% better Lockdown car mode. I like the Lambo, but it jusn't doesn't scream Lockdown to me.
Ramdomaccess
Super movie-ish head, yuk. Space poncho, yes.
nobleboivin
I wish we had that design in the movie. It looks cool.
CyclonuS_ZerO
I don't really care for the movies, but I can see that some of the designers are actually trying to go for ques that are discernable to the actual character they're designing. Whoever is in charge of choosing final designs (probably Bay) is an absolute moron. This looks way better than that generic shit they used for Lockdown, this at least SOMEWHAT looks like Lockdown whereas this shit in the movie.....doesn't.....at all. Definitely glad I'm not giving these assholes my money to see these monstrosities on screen they CLAIM to be Transformers.
Aeronnz
I don't think a muscle car would've really fit his personality in the movie, so I'm still happy they went with the lambo

Blame the energon. One too many drinks and...
galvatron88
He looks like a crossover of Animated,RoTF and a insect...It's true and you know it!

I love Lockdown, but this insect that is wearing Lockdown's clothes does not come close to the movie model. AOE Lockdown is the best Transformer character that Bay has brought us... and I detest his style. Whoever the artist is that keeps trying make our transformers hideous monsters needs to stop. Good Day Sir.
Chaos Prime
That vehicle mode is badass! That would have been a car with some personality, not that stupid farari, or lambo, or whatever he currently is.
The robot mode looks like General Grievous though...not too thrilled with that.

"You got to be kidding me." -Crosshairs

Seriously? the insect design for Bayformers has been more generic than ever for 3 movies. The final design of Lockdown is probably one of the few designs that are closely identical to its previous incarnation and totally awesome.

It's still Transformers by the way.... Regardless of differences.
Dormamu
Dear Ken, chicken walking legs are so 2007. Thank you for being shot down on that design. Sincerely, everyone.

His latest reveal... SPOILERS

Hasbro Inc., Transformers 4

Lockdown Keyframe "New Inventory"

I boarded in thumbnails a little sequence in which Ratchet sees Lockdown escaping in the near distance. Lockdown, (Playing Possum) as a beater muscle car, leads Ratchet through some ravines, baiting him into taking the path set with traps - long, iron spikes, when triggered, spring up. With no time to avoid impact, Ratchet transforms, but his high speed momentum impales him in a spike, leaving Lockdown time to grab a quick trophy, before moving on to his next target...

But, the point of the image and assignment was to show Lockdown's character trait, taking a trophy from a defeated Ratchet.

I might have gotten a little ahead of myself, story-wise - the scene is still in the movie, though completely different.

Don't forget - come see me this weekend, at
Capital City Comic Con 2014 July 11-13, table T122!
