 | | | Mike Patton will voice a Constructicon in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen | | Posted on 04-05-2009 at 09:21 AM by Sol Fury | | Movieweb is reporting the Mike Patton, of Faith No More fame, will be providing the voice of one of the Constructicons in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. It is not entirely clear which Constructicon he will be providing the voice for - the source suggests Mixmaster, but contradicts it by saying he is the left leg of Devastator and a dump truck, but one thing is certain - he is 100% on board for the project.

I just came across this MovieWeb.com article, via Seibertron, which apparently confirms that Mike Patton, the lead vocalist of the band Faith No More, will be providing the voice of one of the Constructicons in Revenge of the Fallen. Here's the full article text: Quote: Mike Patton to Voice Decepticon Mixmaster in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Rumors about musician Mike Patton's involvement in the highly anticipated summer sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were confirmed today by a "close" friend of the singer (who may or may not live in Philadelphia). More of a cameo than a leading robot, Patton will lend his unique vocal talents to Mixmaster, one of the seven Decepticons that form to create Devastator. He is a concrete mixing truck that serves as the left leg of this gigantically awesome robot.
While Patton's participation in the film was 100% confirmed, the "source" didn't seem quite so positive about the actual robot he would be playing, at times calling him a dump truck (which is actually Long Haul). Either way, he will voice one of the seven vehicles that form Devastator. Patton is said to have landed the gig after producers heard his voice work on the video game The Darkness. This is a big year for the prolific singer, as his score for Crank: High Voltage will be released this coming Tuesday. And he is currently in the midst of embarking on a European reunion tour with his former band Faith No More.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens this summer on June 24th, 2009.
| The way I see it, it seems like there are a few discrepancies here, not just with the confusion over the identity of the part (isn't Mixmaster Devastator's head, anyway?) but also the lack of a named source; on the other hand, they're claiming "100% confirmation", which I guess is enough to give it some credence. Patton's done a bit of voice work before in growling, monstrous roles, most notably as "The Darkness" in the Xbox 360 game of the same name; is this the sort of thing we can expect to hear from the RotF Constructicons, then?
rapid_fire:
well you were right to put the question mark in your title!!
Mixmaster isn't the left leg...
Mixmaster isn't a dump truck...
The dumptruck isn't the left leg...
There aren't seven robots that make up Devastator (unless all the toys and art are wrong)
pretty cool though, he would make a great Decepticon voice!!
Twin Twist:
I care a lot.
Orbital:
i think theres some truth in it, but how much is anyones guess right now. I'm somewhat sad, we're so close to the film's release and we still dont have a full list of voice actors, we don't have any hi-res photos of any of the transformers as we did last year, and i just feel thier really dragging the suspense out for too long leaving me really hungry for more!
hopefully in a week or two, we'll get some more information through interviews, leaks, toys and such and then the trailer will hit with star trek, and the my sickness will be cured but until then :'(
Takara_destron:
Wow, thats the last person I was expecting if its true.
BrokenSVT:
I'll just be thrilled if they don't all sound like fax machines transmitting.

Epic. Lance Halberd:
I stand by my conviction that the remaining Constructicons be voiced by the members of Dethklok.

Sweet!
A friend of mine also read an interview with the band Mastodon saying they'd be doing some voicework for ROTF. Now take that with a grain of salt as I can't confirm it, but this Patton rumor does lend some credibility to it.
Anyway, Mike Patton has an amazing vocal range and I'm curious what he'll be doing with Mixmaster if this turns out to be true.
6th Dinobot:
Patton also did the vocal effects for the lead vampire in I AM LEGEND, and is voicing the lead on the upcoming Bionic Commando game. No need to have a mid-life crisis over it.
brr-icy:
awesome, i love mike patton
TRANS+CRAZY:
Cool.
Can't wait to learn who else is on board to voice any of the new bots in ROTF.
Twin Twist:
Haha this thread keeps delivering.
Cungitron:
"Epic" stuff. Mike Patton has an amazing vocal range.

That is great news. Great band that just got back together and he has a great voice. They should of used him for a couple other transformers also if this true.

The evidence is all there, and it doesn't even require a stripsearch.
Ra88: Love the voice he did in The Darkness. I hope he won't be limited to grunts though. Chris McFeely:
Geez. Would it maybe be too much to ask that we could get some actual, honest-to-God *REAL* voice actors with careers in the medium of some actual length on these effing movies? Cullen, Harnell and Adler are pretty much it so far, and Adler got two goddamn lines.

This could be potentially awesome, Patton is easily in my personal top five favorite vocalists list (music major for the win). However, I imagine he'll just have a few lines that are so heavily altered to the point that it could have been anyone.
Stormcrow: This
news
is AWESOME! Blitz.:
wow the constructicons are so freakin metal I lovorz it

Chris McFeely:
Oh, aye, with less than half-a-dozen video game roles under his belt. Hot damn! Sure beats getting Kevin Conroy, or Keith David, or Phil LaMarr, or Michael Bell, or someone with a history in the television and film voice acting industry! No, man, what we need here is ROCK STARS!
This is, incidentally, nothing against Patton himself, but rather me finally losing it, having hoped this THIS movie might've actually moved in that direction, after the first movie didn't, especially with all the talk about the Transformers being much fuller characters this time around. And who have we heard are doing voices for the new characters so far? Three rock stars and one existing member of the live-action cast. Ugh. The bad taste of that Keith David rumour from two years ago has still not gone away for me.
shroobmaster:
But Chris, Mike is a MASTER growler! That's why we need him to make Decepticon growls!
SlipKnotDrifter:
Now we all know Devy is going to sound like a major badass. As stated before this dude has done all the growls for Left for Dead, I am Legend, and his band, is just awesome. I cannot wait to hear him do this.
Astrocon:
Excelent! just that!

Or is it too much of a crazy concept that they have been chosen for a reason?
