Spoiler-phobes, turn back! Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay has told MTV that he kills off at least one character in the movie. Bay is quoted as saying that he ended up not liking the character of Arcee as she was developed, so he decided to kill her off. Unlike Jazz’s death in the first movie, Bay says that Arcee’s death will occur and the movie will quickly move on from there. He also confirms that Mikaela does not ride Arcee, as previously rumored.

You're reading too much into this. And if the last sentence of your post isn't racist, I don't know what is.
Ruthie
Nah, just have one of the bigger bots step on her and be done with it. It's a better fate than she deserves.
Shadow25
Um, didn't anyon read what Bob implied?
Sso02V
You need to adjust the levels on your TV then pal, cause Jazz was silver.
BubbleTeaQueen
Wow, I may be reading too much into this, but first the black-bot (Jazz) goes, now the femme? Seems like a very *cough*whiteman*cough* thing to do.
VokVisitor
Yep. And Megatron does not come back…
oh… but if he does he's just appearing in a flashback, and he has no lines.
but if he did he'd be played by hugo weaving.
This new news seems a little off to me, so I suspect it's a lie.
That doesn't bother me at all.
What bothers me is how they characterize Jazz's death in the article.
Quote:
"As some fans might remember, the death of Jazz in Bay's first "Transformers" film not only served as a reminder of the severity of the robot war, but also became one of the film's most touching moments."
Abruptly having Jazz be ripped in half like an ant after having 2 lines does not constitute a deep, touching moment with emotional impact. Well, I was touched, in a bad-touch, Michael-Jackson kind of way.
Quote: "In the sequel, however, Bay was so eager to kill off Arcee that he had no desire to milk the moment for emotional impact."
Like he would know how to do that anyway.
But seriously, it would be a bad filmmaking move to develop a character for half a film and then abruptly kill it off without acknowledgement. It's just bad storytelling. Bay isn't stupid. Either he's lying about killing Arcee OR Arcee plays virtually no part in the storyline.
I'm guessing misinformation.

I think we can breathe a little easier now, guys.

+his several following posts.
He didn't say it directly, but I can infer.

True. That's what happened to Robert Rodriguez when he wanted to give Frank Miller a co-director credit for Sin City, I think. Very stupid of the guild either way.
Burnout
If i had to venture a guess, the whole three robots into one to make arcee instead of making her the single robot she was in her toy/video game person probably has a lot to do with it. and remember that in the tf2 flick arcee is made up of 3 robots so maybe one of the three is the "ARCEE" robot or only two die and one continues on as arcee. Im just glad sideswipe aint dying. that would sucked beyond compare.

That's a fantastic idea, but the thing that would get in the way is the directors guild. If you want to do a film and have the directing credit to go to more than one director then you just about have to quit the directors guild to do it. Really a damn shame the guild worries more about when awards are given out rather than what would make for better more creative film making.
Sure Bay's ego is all out of control, but you've got to think that even Bay has peers he'd give up some of that ego for the chance to work with them. He might even come out a better film maker if he had the chance to work with some peers that understand what story and character bring to a film.

I don't really care. G1 was unrealistic because nobody ever died, until the movie where they all died all at once Of course, it's a kid show so they couldn't really do it.
But this is a more 'mature' real life movie (not really mature since there's more than enough potty humor ), so I think it's good some characters get slagged. I'm still hoping Ratchet isn't among them, but some have to go. I don't care what the reason would be. It's only natural that people die in a war.
Laser_Optimus
Same here. His armor protects him from the (rather slow) digestive acids of the Sarlacc so that he can climb out. I don't remember how (or if) they mention him avoiding the tenticles/tongues, but I guess if he still had his blaster or something that would be enough. Been a good long while since I read that one.
Yeah, Tales of the Bounty Hunters… I remember the story specifically because it had a pretty awesome ending with him and a droid bounty hunter in a Mexican Standoff. It was awesome…

no i want to hear susan blu voice her..in this film
doesnt seems like it now..

Th3 Fall3n
well lol if thats a threesome then devastator is one big nasty evil gangbang session walking arround causing terror!

You know, I wish there could be two directors on a TF movie, though that would never happen. Bay do all the action (which he is amazing at, I'll give him that) and Speilberg do everything else. But with his ego Bay would never allow that to happen. Especially with HIS robots. He gets to do whatever he wants to them.
Bay doesn't think Arcee has a good 'character'. So, I've concluded these make Bay consider someone a good character.
1) Being huge or having ridiculous firepower
2) Being very small and taking on humans
3) Being there for solely comic relief
4) turns into a military vehicle or a GM car
Arcee is probably the smallest of the non-human sized TFs, and turns into a puny motorcycle. She can't blow up things good bay) or provide as much comedic value as Bay's ultimate creations, the Twins (!), and she can't be a crazyass little thing to cause trouble for everyone. Therefore, she fails and must be killed. And no one will give a dman in the movie.
Might be misinfo, but Bay's cockiness is prevailant, whcich in other regular interviews he also comes across that way.

Read a lot of Star Wars stuff so I could have my books mixed up but I think it was one called Tales of the Bounty Hunters.
Since the book didn't really counter anything from the movie and seemed logical it sort of became part of the accepted mythology. Boba Fett fell in the pit but we knew the Sarlacc doesn't kill instantly. Jaba's ship explodes but since Boba was in the the Sarlacc he wouldn't have been caught up in the explosion. And well heck villains are rarely dead if you don't have a dead body.
ams
Gah, L_O beat me! I follow the SW novels, so I don't know what else might be out there fiction-wise, but the Sarlacc doesn't quite finish him off.
Laser_Optimus
Hmm… how about a real writer actual give her a meaningful death? You know… she goes out protecting the humans or something. Of course, it probably wouldn't be that great either considering how they handled Jazz's death and that was supposed to be meaningful.
Eh, I'm probably asking too much from Bay… I mean, he thinks special effects are story points.
Laser_Optimus
Not according to all the canon fiction that's been written since.
Ruthie
Then again, it's Arcee. What other reason could there be?
They had a model. No CGI, at least not movie quality animation.
This! Fembots represents everything that went wrong with G1 and remains the purple elephant in the room.
Yes some are. And they're also right about Arcee.
That's not funny!!
You think?
