Michael Bay Denies Transformers 4 Rumor

Michael Bay has responded to the rumors that he is in talks with Paramount for Transformers 4 & 5. He denies any talks are taking place, and states that his current future plans do not involve any new installments of the Transformers live action movie franchise.

I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I'm looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It's a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy.

Michael

that's ok, we don't need bay to have transformers 4.

and i'm fine with him being done with it. after 3 movies, i'd like to see what some one else can do with the franchise.

Prepare for the influx of stupid threads and polls as to whether or not he's telling the truth.

No one's saying there won't be more TF movies (I'm hoping for a reboot, myself).

Bay just won't be a part of any of them, according to the man himself. I imagine he probably feels it's time to move on...
Stepper
Off go Bay,need another guy and i will vote for Steven Speilberg to take over him
Shin Densetsu
Wait, just finishing the blu ray trilogy 3 pack? He adding something new to that set?

This is just typical PR stuff. He wants us to focus on the trilogy collection and not wait for an all 5 movie collection. Let the man chill for now, don't bug him about it and harass him. Besides, even if he doesn't come back there's still spielberg and krueger which hopefully means no reboot. Again, JUST SAY NO TO REBOOTS. So long as there are still stories that need to be told, a reboot would just be counter-productive.

I am so glad Bay in not involve.....I want a reboot of Transformer and be proud of the franchise again....Bay put Transformer in a very bad light......
Driftx3
On the serious: Thank the FSM for there being no current truth to Jason Statham. As much as I have a bro-crush on him, I think the Transformers should be focused on Transformers, not people, no matter how awesome those people are.

And BRING ON THE FREAKIN' RE-BOOT. Let the Bayformers go away, what Bay did to Devestator and the Wreckers was unforgivable.

For me,i don't want to see reboot but continuation of from TF 3
Rodimus Mike
This news just makes me happy as sh**,now it will take a while for Paramount to find someone new to produce TF4 and 5. I just hope it takes a year or two to find someone so we can have a break from the movies. And even tho the movies are good I was getting tired of Hasbro neglecting other lines like Classics and Kre-O,but again I hope now they put more time into these lines now that Bay is out.

dammit people, get on the same page! creators of this seem to be all over the place

Clearly you don't know Michael Bay.

Bay better be telling the truth. But, given his record of lies, I'll believe him when pigs start to fly.

Oh thank goodness, there's still hope.

The only reason why I do not care if MB directs 4 or not is because the bot designs are going to remain the same either way.

I kinda want him to return. Just to see fanboys having their dreams crushed.

Why so adamantly against reboots? HasTak reboots the Transformers franchise every couple of years, should be used to it by now.

No reason this can't happen with movies. The story's pretty much done - sure, they can bring in Galvatron and Unicron, Rodimus and Prime reborn, but at some point they'll have to reboot it to keep TFs on the big screen.

And besides, it's not like these movies were "perfect" by any standard.

I really don't think there are (stories that need to be told). This series pretty much jumped the shark on the second movie. And they basically obliterated all the star decepticons in DOTM. Any extension will just get even more strained and convoluted.

I can understand that. But it does get a little old.

anyway ... how soon till we start hating on the new guy? Depending on who we get, I predict cries of 'come back Bay, all is forgiven'.

This fandom is bipolar like that.

The only thing from Michel Bay i would believe is if he denied that the transformers movies had a script!

"Uwe Boll / Tommy Wiseau confirmed for second trilogy as director and writer!"

Are they making a movie within the Prime-verse, by the way?

There's no denying Bay was a boon to the franchise but I want someone new. I want a movie that actually is about the Transformers, not one that merely features them. I want robots that have discernible features, not piles of scrap metal. But most of all I want a good story; something the movies feel only get in the way of explosions.

So I celibate the departure of Bay but thank him for his service.
FatalT 71
Eh. We'll see what happens when more information actually comes out. Until then its just a bunch of gums flapping and rumors flying. I believe none of it.

Those guys were the most epic thing to ever happen to Transformers...

Bay isn't contradicting a rumor, he's contradicting Hasbro ... " we're in active talks with Michael bay and paramount. "...
Gilgamesh
Guys, Megatron isn't going to appear in ROTF, get that through your heads.
Meggamus
this was inevitable, it was obvious (to me anyway) that Bay will deny it even if it is true, of course, he might be telling the truth ? who knows ?
Krueger
Just saying, he doesn’t actually say he won’t do a Transformers 4. I still think its true, to be honest. No smoke without fire. Also, noticed how he emphasizes that Pain & Gain will be a short shoot? What will he do after?
Gojira Prime
I knew this would happen eventually. Studios say that they're "in talks" with people all the time. It means nothing.

I agree, that jives with what has been said by others that Bay and the key actors were looking to do something different.

In the last 5 years, Transformers has been the ONLY project he has been really involved with. Maybe he DOES have some creative spark and would like to exercise that (especially stating he wanted to do a crime thriller)?

But I think he has NO shortage of options: after his string of box office hits and the Transformers series in particular, he could damn near do any movie he wanted to at the moment.

Not necessarily. When Hasbro posted that, they could have easily have called Bay up and said "yo, dude, want to another super-mega hit Transformers movie for us?"
Bay: Nah, I want to some other stuff before doing more robots.

I honestly have to agree. Nascar Transformers with Scottish accents. Win right there.

The problem of taking what is being said by the fandom on the movie boards as fact is that ALOT of it is just made up bs, you have to remember that alot of the younger fans are movie verse fans and as such have little doubt about posting rumors and hearesay as facts without doing any kind of research themselves (and promptly chastize anyone trying to tell them differently, making it one big movieverse fan wank echo chamber)

From imdb:

2012 The Hauntrepreneur (executive producer) (announced)
2011 Transformers 3 (executive producer)
2011 I Am Number Four (producer)
2010 A Nightmare on Elm Street (producer)
2009 Transformers: Revenge of the fallen (executive producer)
2009 Friday the 13th (producer)
2009 The Unborn (producer)
2009 Horsemen (producer)
2007 Our World (video documentary) (executive producer)
2007 Their War (video documentary) (executive producer)
2007 Transformers (executive producer)
2007 The Hitcher (producer)

ie...no - he has not only been doing transformers lately

Or it could go the way of horseman (grossing $2,4 mill) or the unborn (gross $76 mill) and the studio looks at that and says "gtfo of my office".

Maybe...but I doubt it.

As a film fan I hope he sticks to his guns and goes with Pain and Gain. Normally when a director brings in big bucks he gets handed one of his dream projects but instead of getting to work on dream project after Revenge of the Fallen Paramount kind of strong armed him into yet another Transformers film instead of that dream project.

Doing something a bit different also lets him work on the weaker aspects of his film making so that when he goes back to the big summer action films he'd be a more well rounded director than only doing the same sort of films all the time.

Ouch and he really needs to mentor some of folks over at Platinum Dunes productions because while Bay's films might not be flawless they are still far better than the films Platinum Dunes has released so far.

Notice his choice of words:
[QUOTE=Incepticon;6768264] "I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. "

He says "currently" in there. It leaves it open for future talks. He has wanted to do other projects and that's what he is doing. If in fact he was done he would have said something along the lines that he appreciates Paramount reaching out to him but it is time to move on to other things and let someone else have a crack at Transformers.
shadow2879
Ok... For those who are calling for a reboot. Im sorry but its not even in the works yet. There will be 3 more movies to come in this current movie-verse and the next 2 will indeed be shot at the same time and could run as basicly a 2 parter so-to-speek. As for Bay being asked to come back as director... this is as of now just a rumor but with it being this early, even if he was asked, there is no way the guy is going to tell anyone outside of Paramount one way or the other on what his plans are for a movie(s) a few years down the line. As for the 3 disk trilogy set... it is not the 3d combo pack that will be out soon, just to clear that up for some that may be confused. And the trilogy pack should be released a few months after the 3d combo pack. The 3 disk trilogy pack is rumored to be extended cuts of all three movies but that is just rumor at this point.
