Last week MTV essentially reran a story we ran months ago, but with different sources: yes, the villain in Transformers 2 is The Fallen, the Satan equivalent Transformer from the recent comic books. Now I'm coming at you with new TF2 news: Megatron is coming back.
OK, I don't think there's a soul out there who will be surprised when Megatron returns in Transformers 2*. If the current incarnation of the script follows the beats of a previous incarnation (which did not feature The Fallen), Megatron may be getting brought back by the Autobots, who need him to conquer the new menace. But I've learned that this time he won't be that weird alien jet. This time he's a tank.
Megatron apparently was a tank in the Transformers Generation 2 comic or toys or something (I don't know, I just looked it up on Wikipedia and I still don't get it), so this has some precedent. I imagine this is as close as we'll get to seeing him be a gun, since the movies appear to eschew the sort of size shifting antics that the comics and cartoons embraced.
*Assuming the damn movie even gets finished with Shia's hand injury and general problems.

Hrmm, and interesting concept, having the Autobots revive Megatron, if true. A tank seems like a natural alt-mode for Megatron but wouldn't it be dwarfed by the size of Starscream?

Right on! I was hoping Megatron would take on a disguise this time. Wasn't expecting a tank (his cybertronian mode kinda suggested stealth bomber to me for some reason) but it will do nicely! Hopefully he will have an arm cannon too

I rather see Megatron being a tank instead of that jet. I never did like
the jet mode. Although Prime and Megatron will call a truce and join up
together to fight the Fallen, Megatron will end the truce when it is over.

*Looks up* Nope, it's still called news and rumours in here. We just get precious few rumours these days so you'd be forgiven for thinking this is just news.
I don't mind a team up, say end of armada style, complete with kickass prime/megs fight, but he better not become an actual good guy, that would be ridiculous...

that depends on the type of tank really, some people class the larger APC's as tanks, and war technology is always changing

And Devastator is dead, so the alt mode is up for grabs.
Much better than a Cybertronian jet that will get shot at every time he flies anywhere, especially if they are beating the "No Dinobots" realism drum.

My thoughts exactly. What if The Fallen isn't in it at all and actually refers to Megatron? I've always found it odd that they'd take a little-known comic book character and put him in the movie.

Honestly I think the whole idea of a transformers devil figure is horrible cop out for a franchise. The allspark was already a simplification of a much better story and this would be just a another little rediculous turn in the movie franchise

Sounds interesting. It's most likely misinformation or someone just coming up with it on their own. Movie Megatron doesn't seem like a bot that would scan an Earth mode, let alone one dependent on land to move around. As for the whole team-up thing. I can see that happening, but only a temporary thing to destroy the Fallen, and then it's back to normal once it's done. Kinda like in Armada when they teamed up to destroy Unicron.
