Mark Wahlberg In Talks for Transformers 4?

Comingsoon.net has posted an article stating that actor Mark Wahlberg (Ted, The Happening, The Other Guys) has been in talks with Transformers 4 director Michael Bay about possibly starring in the next installment of our beloved franchise. The article goes onto state this as a distinct possibility, as the two have just come off working together on the upcoming film Pain and Gain. Director Michael Bay was quick to reply to this news, posting on his website: "The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project". Bay is quick to not confirm or deny the rumor.

Interesting side not to this story; Mark sings Stan Bush's power rock song from the 1986 Transformers film, "You Got The Touch" in 1997's Boogie Nights.

I gthought the female lead was a teenager seems abit old to be dating a teenager. Before I heard about the roles I was wondering it Bay would go with the Rock and Wahlberg for tf4

If it was true...it could be worse. Wahlberg's not really that *bad* an actor (nor is he a great one), he just tends to take very bad roles. At the very least he tries with the material he's given.

Is in the neighborhood of 20 years old. So that's not the same Mark we have today.

Wouldent of been my first choice for a tf movie but I liked his work in the departed .although since hasbro came out and said the character changes were due to poor toy sales. With dotm I will be skeptical until I see it.

I still love watching Mark Walhberg's movies but I hope he isn't the main star. They need somebody younger, fairly in their 20s as another poster mentioned. Alex Pettyfer maybe?

You know there will probably be more than two roles in this film right? To me he'd be fine as a soldier, anyone ever see Three Kings? Maybe he'll be a new "Lennox" type.

I like Wahlberg. He's got the build and look of an action star, but his acting somewhat separates him from that typecast.

The only thing I don't like about it is that Wahlberg's contract could take a chunk out of their overall budget. I was hoping for a smaller, lesser-known cast since I want something with more robot characterization/screen-time.

There's another possibilty everyone seems to be ignoring, that he could simply be voicing a bot, personally I like that idea, he'd be fine for Hot Rod, or any other brash unamed bot, that will exist as a character from the continuity, and toyline, but will be renamed last minute by Bay. Wahlberg will be a backhoe, and his name will be "Diggler."
