Mark Wahlberg, who played the inventor Cade Yeager in this summer’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, was talking to MTV and one of the things which he was asked concerned the future of the Transformers franchise. His response was as follows:
“Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more… you know I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on the set soon.”By all accounts it sounds like we might see Cade Yeager make a return for at least one, maybe two more Transformers movies going forward!

Darn, I was hoping for a new lead character

If numbers begin to dip recasting will be the first thing done.
And Asian fans have proved to be very loyal when it comes to franchises… they tend to not be very fickle, unlike the U.S., Canada, and the UK

Kind of depressing that we have to wait for changing tastes in China or Chinese movie ticket buyers getting tired of the film format before we can get any sort of real change to the franchise.

They want a better share of the chinese box office, but what happens when the chinese people find out about mark beating up two asian guys(blinding one) and calling them slant eyes?
SpinalCord
That's why AoE had such a strong focus towards the Chinese market… domestic numbers never matter if it's making a shitton of money overseas… look at Resident Evil. When the global market begins to slip that's when I suspect there will be a reboot

If true Paramount can care less for a proper script, continuity and a new director.
In a perfect world the next film would explain more on the Dinobots, creators and we'll get to see Optimus in his journey to the creator's.

Domestically the series has been on a box office slide since the domestic box office high point of $402 million for Revenge of the Fallen, with Dark of the Moon sliding domestically to $352 million and Age of Extinction domestically sliding to $245 million.
Over at Sony the box office slide of Spiderman has been a huge concern, but Paramount just doesn't seem to care at all if the Transformers are having a downward trend at the box office. So I'm just not sure how bad the numbers would have to get domestically for Paramount to make any big changes to Transformers format.
I get the feeling Paramount just doesn't care if the domestic market watches the Transformers movie or not as long as Paramount can work a deal to get a better share of the Chinese box office.

He's a competent enough actor, even in a horrible movie like The Happening he was still entertaining as all hell. I liked him in Transformers and I liked the relationship he had with Optimus Prime it was better than the relationship between Shia LeBeouf and Bumbleebee.
Eh, tell me what happens to the live action series when I'm done with Star Wars Episode VII.

Because the human characters is what we care about in a movie with giant transformable robots………..<Yes, sarcasm

I don't mind him coming back….a lot of his movies are watchable. I do agree they need better writers. One big problem I have with all these movies are they are an Alien race from a different world…..loose the Earth-based guns and ammo……Use frickkin' lazers! I am sure they've developed more superior weapons, beside it would look a lot cooler.

I expect the next film to be a lot better than AOE. AOE had great moments.
SpinalCord
Or until people get bored with that format (which they will), and the movies start making less and less money.
Ash from Carolina
Until someone connected with the Transformers movies says something insulting about Kim Jong Un we are just stuck with same format for basically the same movie with just different robots and humans over and over until the end of time.

I'm glad too! I really like new cast and Cade's role!

This news does not displease me!

So these movies will continue to be awful… not surprised

Marky mark is ok… Really hoping Stanley Tucci is back. I really liked his character arc. One of the first genuinely relatable characters in a michael bay film!

Hell yeah!

I see. Well, in that case, I'm sorry for misjudging you. Still, Megan Fox and Shia Labeouf have moved on to other things.

New director, reboot and keep Cullin. What the hell is so hard about that?! i like marky mark, but Michael Bay? I wouldn't trust him with Big Black Butts 47, let alone Transformers (1-)5. I'm tired of people saying that at least he does action well too. In a good action scene I can: 1.tell what the hell is going on and 2.actually give a shit about the outcome based on a competent story. Even if he briefly manages to fulfill #1 he will always fail at #2.
