Wait, I got it: TF3 will be set in the future, Dunn will play an aged Sam, having flashbacks of a deceased Megan Fox. It all makes sense now.

Oh come on, she did great! She's got the irritating mom routine down PAT; if an actress playing the role of an irritating character successfully irritates you, that's a pretty good actor - she is doing her job well.

Her scary starey eyes bore into my very soul and make my face want to melt like the bad guys at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I do find the role she's playing kinda irritating, but more it's her cavernous eyes which put me off.

I LOVED Sam's parents. I hope they'll be back or it just wouldn't be the same! I just hope there are no "Pretenders" in the next one...

Sam's Parents
Simmons

I couldn't care less who else is or isn't in it.

I must be the only one that thought The Beef as Sam was a good idea. He acts exactly as I would imagine someone would when put in those situations.

I also liked Kevin Dunn as his dad as well, so this is good news.

wtf she was funny as shit! not to mention kinda hot for an older chic as far as human roles went in the movie i thought she was pretty cool. the dad too . i keep saying that i hated rotf but there were alot of goodparts too

Sam Witwicky?

I don't mind Sam's parents. I just hope that in TF3 they have a minor role... and that Sam's mom isn't as annoying as she was in ROTF.

I don't have a problem with them, either, though I thought the college scenes with Sam's mom was too much and could have been cut for something else.

But I do hope they only have a scene or two, and that's it. I'm really hoping that Sam joins up with Lennox and Epps, so he and Bumblebee and Mikaela can interact with the rest of the Autobots and we don't have to keep splitting between the military and Autobots, and Sam and Bee with the college stuff.

Well, he's easily the best actor in the entire franchise. They better keep him around.

The only really emotional moment that affected me was when his character was insisting that they stick together in ROTF.

Sigh. The parents are not needed. If they're relegated to roles more akin to those in the first movie I'd be okay with it, I guess.

I don't really mind Kevin Dunn, but Julie White was annoying as hell in Revenge of the Fallen. I'd really rather not see her again.

He has to negotiate his return in TF3? Was Bay thinking about getting rid of him? Or does this mean he is negotiating pay, work hours, etc?

Probably just means negotiating pay and not much else. Of course Bay could be doing something surprising with the next movie, of it may be that Mr. Dunn didn't want to work with Bay again...

Considering story progression, this is a good thing.
This should be the last film for Sam's parents though maybe as Sam should be finishing up college soon anyway. Hopefully this'll mean the running gag of sam's mom's intoxication stunts will be done after movie 3. While I get a kick out of them, some things just shouldn't continue on past movie 3 to leave screen time and plot development for new elements in either the next two flicks, or next set of 3.

The contracts outside of Shia's and Cullen's didn't have the multi movie clause past 2 iirc. So many actors may have to be renegotiated with. Some already were at movie 2. Like sam's roommate, and simmons iirc.

So far all we know now is:
Shia and Megan Fox are back.
Sam's college roommate is back.
Ron Witwicky is back.
Simmons is a maybe.
Lennox and Epps will be back.

Here's hoping they don't make Shia join the military. I like him being conveyed more as the autobots were before the war to contrast how the autobots are now after being in this war for so long with their own 'military'. It'd just be nice if they brought up the comic usage of Ironhide as a decepticon who didn't like what megatron was doing with the militia and security forces.

Megatron was the military leader, Prime was the civic leader. They both led cybertron together in this universe, before the fallen enticed megatron with promises of power, supremacy, and speciest views which then evolved into saving the cybertronian race.

I also hope since sam's dad is back in the movie, they might cover more of sam's 'evolving' from the allspark exposure then. ie, Sam's roommate calls Ron or something, or whatever other gene therapy science usage they could use to slow Sam's evolution.

I'm just really kinda worried the new writer might make too many changes, and ruin the already preset story progression from the first two flicks. They need to at least round those story points out as a trilogy before diving into new territory and forward thinking. This movie better cover the origins of the allspark, what it's doing to sam, and what bots do during down time. No more stall tactics! Some personality for the cons would be nice too, including boredom or what not waiting on megatron's new offensive.

I'm thinking it's probably the later. Though the artical does make it somewhat sound like he's trying to make sure he gets into the film.
Given all the screen time Bay gave the parent characters in the first two films, I'd be surprised if they didn't show up.

I liked the parents just fine until they over-used them and made them the conduit for a bunch of unnecessary crap.

transformers 3 = sam getting married and bumblebee as the best man, forgets the ring and optimus breaks a shard of the matrix to make a ring on the spot. then megatron comes and ruins the wedding right before they say "i do" which will lead us to transformers 4.

Kevin Dunn is the most under appreciated Actor ever... He could be (and usually is for some sad reason) in a piece of crap film, and is just this shinning light in the darkness. Or he can be in a good movie like "Dave" and TOTALLY steal the show!

Want the parents. Love the mom. Just need to dial her humor level back down to the first file.

But most of all, my burning question is .... will Mojo be back?

I loved Kevin Dunn as Sam's dad. I would be happy to see him in the third one.

Ugh, every human actor in the movies is 100% horrible. I hope Megs drops an A-bomb on earth at the start of the 3rd movie and all the humans die. The only bad thing about that would be having to see them all act out dying.

He played his character pretty good. But still his character isn't important to me. It would be better if they just leave more of those supporting roles out. Too many actors is bad for the storyline.

I'd like Sam's parents just fine, but I'd rather they concentrate on, gasp, the actual Transformers. Maybe give Jolt some lines to speak, and give Ironhide and Ratchet a reason to exist beyond popping out in the background, shooting at something, and then popping back off screen.

The human characters are all okay, but they ain't the reason any of us are here.

Whoa, now slow down there, sport. Not every human character in the movie was "100% horrible". Josh Duhamel was great in both films, and so was Tyrese Gibson. John Turturro is a pretty damn good actor, too. Kevin Dunn is actually a pretty good actor as well, especially in the scene in ROTF where he has that "letting go" moment with Sam. If anything, Megan Fox and Julie White are the only actors in the movies that suck, IMO.
