Is Reno Wilson Back as Brains in Transformers 4 Age of Extinction?

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone! We have a great day ahead of us filled with movie news. And here is the one with a bit of a controversy.

Looks like our little ex-con friend survived the crash in Chicago and is hanging out with the new crew. Reno Wilson who voiced a different character in each movie (Frenzy, Mudflap and Brains) tweeted a while ago that he's back for Age of Extinction. Apperantly that tweet is no longer there;

''Just finished a v.o. session for Michael Bay, who is a genius! Each one better than the last! #Transformers4 #Brains''

Does this mean Wheelie is back too? We'll probably hear something from Tom Kenny too. And don't forget to check Superbowl at 6:30 PM ET for our first look to the movie!

Ooooooooohhhh, I don't know what to think anymore.

Whaa?? Don't get me wrong..... Frenzy is acutally one of my favourite movie Cons and Brains is one of those Autobots I liked the most.

This is interesting..... As long as Brains keeps the comedy balanced, then I won't mind him in TF4.
sideswipeprime*
Ummm I guess Brains is back. Does that also mean Wheliee is back?
QLRformer
So Brains and Wheelie survived after all...
primal789
Woooooo!Brains is back,baby!
Starscreamer95
Huh. Awesome. Glad to see both will be coming. I say both becaus you can't have Brains without Wheelie. I expect them to be CG only like in DOTM.
eltonlin98
Wow, I definitely would not mind the return of the Dynamic Duo!

But Wheelie was in Rotf without Brains so maybe now is him without Wheelie

I kind of agree with you. I would imagine Brains is back just to be confirmed killed off in a flashback, or he could be mourning Wheelie to a degree he's back to get revenge.
Starscreamer95
Or. They're both back.
eltonlin98
Wait, I came up with another theory. Brains and Wheelie aren't back and the #Brains is referring to Reno Wilson commending Michael Bay as a genius.

Ohhh, the plot twist!
Starscreamer95
That would actually be the biggest troll I have ever seen.
Red Goblin
I would love to see the look on Nicola's face when she sees Brains in her underwear drawer.

I was thinking about that when I saw this but I didn't want to brake people's dreams

I wonder what for the racial insensitivity will take this time in AOE - I'm sure it will be present as Michael Bay can't help himself in his desire to push stereotypes to the lowest extreme. Just as He can't help being sexist of crass.

Speaking of Crass - More people should be critiquing the bad taste of the Human in DOTM than the robots - example being the end credits.

Every time people hope it will be better this time - it won't be as crass - but I think these movies are made to a lowest common denominator formula to appeal to a low demographic and make them easier to translate internationally via basest of humour, slapstick and violent action.

I can't see that changing so long as they are keeping a close watch on two principles that lead to the same end - dumb movies - its the same principle that leads so many children's and Family CGI movies to be so crass too.

At least if they made some character like Brains it give you a slim hope the roll of dumb T**T is not give to one of the regular Transformers but is instead lumped on a sidekick or human.

The sad thing is most people like Laserbeak and he managed to be zany and intimidating and pretty cool at the same time - and not so much an embarrassment to the whole process.

People also think that it is a puzzle to some watching DOTM why was Sam is a such as D*ck to his robotic cohabitors. Maybe if the new lot have a similar "Comedy character" tagging along they can treat treat them better - or perhaps you will just have Epic slugs where they follow the humans around and just do random sh*t and harm the mood at every given opportunity.

It's always safer to think AOE will be 85% utter garbage with 15% OK robot fighting then if you get better than that you have a pleasant surprise.

Oh and I'm still sceptical that the Dinobots will Transform.

[Oddly I don't actually dislike Wheelie - I think it was because Mikaela was torturing him and it inspired my sympathy] I'd like to see a Brains Legion class toy one day too.

Or perhaps a 3rd party could make the pair as tiny headmaster sized toys.
Ironhide4
Would prefer the time and effort went into a big bot than the silly comedy minicons
LastOfThePrimes
No he's probably just voicing another character. My guess is Crosshairs because he looks like he will be like Jazz and be the black robot in the group.
figsdad
i want to see Wheelie ride Grimlock like in the movie.

And Brains on another dinobot
LastOfThePrimes
A waste of CG. That could be used on the main robots.
Ghostspin
Lame.

I agree to this. What happened to "when they're dead, they STAY dead"?-_- come on Bay.

Lol, who ever said they died?
Scorpio
Honestly doubt we'll see Brains return in a comedic capacity - makes no sense for Brains or Wheelie to return in this film considering they were a comedy duo intended for Sam.

In the films the spaceship they were on crashed - its only in associated media/comics/adaptions where they were shown to have survived. As far as the movies go they were not shown at the end after this events, so that normally equates to them being dead.

This ^

Honestly Brains and Wheelie dragged DOTM and ROTF even further down - without them I would have enjoyed the movies more. Have to wonder also what capacity they would return - as neither are really essential to the plot and both are honestly just comedic relief (Which I don't think anyone enjoys their comedy of humping people)

Ah yes, because that was in all three of the previous films and not just one. #deadhorse

Yes its Bay comedic relief..

Maybe you didn't, but honestly this is the first time I've seen people whining about Wheelie and Brains (exc. ROTF), everyone else seems to love 'em. BTW, there was only one humping joke, and that was with wheelie in ROTF.
This is what annoys me. One thing happens in one movie, and people exaggerate and say it happened across all 3 films.
Deceptigtar
Love how everyone thinks if they took out the cg for this thatit would give so much more screen time or development.

If you took the time and cg for both wheelie and brain in dotm I bet you would get 2 min tops of the larger bots added in.

Yeah big difference and unless someone can confirm that ratio no one has any leg to stand on in saying any different, bitch yes, but fact no.
LastOfThePrimes
I like Bay movies. I'm just ready for Transformers to get serious and dark. I'm tired of the jokes and useless robots. It's a waste of CG and time just like the igor bots in DOTM. Tell me that wasn't a waste of animation. I just want badass robots on the screen and I want to feel like everyone is taking the threat seriously and not making jokes in the middle of a battle.
Ra88
Aw I liked the notion of them both dying while saving the others. This diminishes that a bit.
Decepticons
Aw, Brains! Loved him and Wheelie in Dark of the Moon. They were so adorable and funny. Glad to see him involved.

This. Its not that I hate the characters, its just that they can only be used for comedic relief most of the time. It would just bother me because, knowing Bay, they'll just show up out of nowhere, forget the line in dotm uttered by brains: "yep, we gon' die". Plus they weren't seen again. Hopefully they're only in a flashback or get killed off right away after "surviving". Would add nicely to this "darker tone" they're going for anyway.

NOWHERE IN MY COMMENT DID I STATE THE HUMPING SCENE WAS IN EVERY MOVIE.

It pisses me off when people don't read my comment and think I am merely bashing them for the humor presented in ROTF - the truth of the matter is I am bashing them because they add NOTHING to the movies. The humping scene is their level of humour - which is why I brought it up. Absolutely nothing is added to the movies with their inclusion. You can remove every single one of their scenes and the movies would actually improve because they would be shorter and have less distracting characters.

You can trim almost 30 minutes of ROTF which is just related to Wheelie attempting to help them find Jetfire because it simply is unnecessary made as a reason for Mikaela to have a companion to make Sam jealous which is really stupid.

If anyone "loves 'em" it has to be for their portrayal in ROTF as in DOTM they did absolutely nothing. They only had scenes in DOTM to spout exposition or simply to extend the battle scenes with pointlessly idiotic stunts or dialogue. They made multiple references to Star Trek but that was only so people would know that they got Leonard Nemoy to voice Sentinel Prime.

They are minor characters who for some reason are chosen to also be the comedy relief in ROTF and simply spout exposition whenever they are on screen. They add NOTHING to the movie and they're humour dragged down ROTF. The fact is the only memorable thing about them is the reason many of them hate them. Brains has no character at all - even less so than the comics.

Its insulting how two characters such as that are introduced - heck, can you give me a good reason for Brains to even be in DOTM, let alone TF;AOE?
bumblebee22
So if brains does return I could see him hanging out with bee assuming the bots have gone into hiding also brains and wheelie weren't useless are you guys forgetting who saved the autobots in Chicago and who found the cosmonauts
Sludge
I loved Brains. The scene with him on the desk with the gun was great. I hope he's back.
Mr. Chaos
See, I don't mind it one bit. Brains and Wheelie are the perfect characters to be the 'humor autobots', because they are small and not fighters. That was the problem with Skids and Mudflap... no one wants the big robots to be cracking jokes. The little babies? A-ok in my book. Bring back Brains.

Meh, you're trying too hard. Is there any reason people shouldn't like them? They were funny in DOTM, and who wants to sit through these movies without a good laugh? And yeah, people LOVED them, especially in the theater.
agentSAP2006
I was just thinking about Brains and Wheelie being in AOE while watching DOTM last night. Glad to see they're back.
