We are sad to report that veteran actor Leonard Nimoy has passed away. Leonard Nimoy provided the voices of Sentinel Prime in Transformers Dark of the Moon and Galvatron in Transformers the Movie in 1986, but he will perhaps be best remembered for playing the role of the science officer of the Enterprise, Mr Spock, in Star Trek, in a role that spanned almost 50 years from his debut as the Vulcan in “The Cage” to his final appearance in “Star Trek Into Darkness”.
On behalf of the site, of fans of science fiction, and anyone who has gazed skywards and imagined traveling the spaceways, we offer our condolences to Mr Nimoy’s family, and we also warmly remember one of the greatest men to have graced our screens in both his acting and his voice acting roles.
Live long, and prosper.

Welp. Wounds are open again.
Phone had died when it happened. Went with some friends to eat lunch (during a snowstorm) and my phone was charging at an outlet. Was chatting casually until someone casually mentioned to someone, "Oh, did you see that Leonard Nimoy died?"
I yelled too loudly "HE DIED?!?!" To the shock of my friends. And they clarified that yes, he died earlier that morning. Cue me shutting down and repeatedly going "No… No…" And eventually I just outright put my head down.
Shit hurts. What a day that was.

That is poetry.

Thanks for so many great memorIes. The Star trek movies were something I looked forward to seeing with family. His voice as Galvatron was amazing and convincing. He has done so much, sad but happy he had a highly respected career and left a mark history. Thank you Leonard!

Well on a few things yes. And I'm quite late with some news such as finding out that this happened. I really hadn't known anything until just recently.

You mean you get your daily dose of news here?!
Yes, he'll be missed. The world does seems a little different now too.
We now actually live in "A World Without Nimoy".
Think about it, future conventions will no longer feature him, no television show will have him star in, or guest star in, or even voice over roles.
I've only met him just the once, and he didn't say the famous Wrath of Khan line to me, but that's what I hear in my head now.

Found out about all of this just the other day from looking at the cover of a magazine…I was seriously shocked and still had to go home and look it up to be sure. Extremely saddened to hear Mr. Nimoy has passed. He was a great man and actor and shall be greatly missed by many.

Today I think I'm finally able to start watching TOS movies again without getting too misty.. I need to find some blu-rays of the movies though.. just the old dvds not enough anymore.

Now that I'm logging back in, after being kinda away for the last year+ (I did check the front page, intermittently), guess I should show Galvatron my respects. Can't say he didn't Live Long & Prosper. 'Til All Are One.
*edit* Forgot to mention that I watched the original '86 TF movie the evening Nimoy died. Felt compelled to do so.

Thanks, just want to keep things as positive as possible….
On topic, I saw on the news that Shatner was obligated to appear at a Red Cross charity function and couldn't make the funeral, but see that he made the memorial… that's nice he got to make that.
During a quick interview, he thought it was nice that about 1k folks at the function had a moment of silence for Nimoy.
Scypris
Whoops sorry about that..

Well, I watched all the original movies. I have the Blu-ray set but I haven't had the chance to watch it. Blew through them this weekend and enjoyed them even more (though the death scene in STII was a little tough).
Nimoy was awesome and he embodied the original Trek. I'm glad he was able to come to terms with the typecasting and though I wasn't much of a fan of the reboot movies, his presence helped legitimize the new cast and tie it to the old. He was a great director with a great vision and sense of story-telling, and always fought for the rest of the cast.
I'm tempted to pick up the original series on Blu-ray now.

Obviously in memory of Nimoy, a few channels aired Star Trek marathons over the weekend. After watching them again, I forgot how much more I loved the dynamic between Spock & Bones than I ever did between Spock & Kirk. Those two together were always pure gold.
