On the Sarah & Vinnie Secret Show. It’s not hard core 100% Transformers talk but there is a lot of it. High lights include him talking about Bay almost making people at ILM cry, fan sites and there impact on the movies and Devastator’s balls. Very cool, will listen later.
GogDog:
Woah, awesum.
Drew Eiden:
Yeaaah [/thread]
FriskyPinewood:
Very cool!

About gave me a heart attack though when I cranked it to hear Shawn's boss and the others (much closer to the mic) continue with questions. WOW! that was loud!
Vangelus:
Hey Friskypinewood,

You just got a shout out on the podcast (WTF@TFW) for being the first non-podcaster to reply in this thread.

And GogDog likes your belt buckle.

Good job!
Fosterlager:
Listening to it now, these guys are really entertaining.
frilly toothpick:
is that sarah from sarah and no name? if so what happened to no name?
shedbandit:
Shawns a really cool guy met him a few times while I was studying with animationmentor.com (he took me for a tour of ILM). Extremely talented, and genuine bloke. Great to hear him talking about his career and ROTF.

Yes that's her. The radio station got a new manager who felt No Name didn't fit the target demographic and they let him go. Vinnie is actually Sarah's original co-host No Name replaced when Vinnie's drinking got out of control.

But don't weep for No Name, he got a gig (right down the hall) at Live 105, there music is a better fit for him. KITS LIVE 105 The One & Only -San Francisco - No Name

Bay has a very distinct eye on what he wants to see, and he'll make no distinction between junior animators and the guys that have been there for years, and will pull no punches. I heard stories from the first film along the lines of "make it not look like a piece of crap", and if you think of this as your first shot on the film, you've planned your shot, worked on your blocking (basic animation), and your looking at it thinking "yeah, this looks really good, Im ready to show this to Bay to get the concept OK'd" and you get a comment like that its gonna knock you. Its part of the industry though, you NEED to be able to take the crits, its the way you produce better work, and as Shawn says in the interview, your there to put THE DIRECTORS vision on screen. The shot in question in the first film is one of my favourites, the animator took the crit, went away, reanimated it, and knocked it out of the park.
Digilaut:
As much as it is too bad that some director would act like a douche, in the end harsh critism might be just what you need. Maybe you'll get so angry and be like "I'll show that bastard!" that you go back and create the best work you'v ever done, just to prove the guy wrong.

Or you could go sit in a corner and cry.

Working in the business is hard, because sometimes (read: alot) you will have to create something for somebody that is obviously the wrong choice, but hey, he's the one pulling the strings, and you get payed to work for him!

That's the point where you will have to decide if that's what you want to be part of, or maybe go do something for yourself.

Transcript for those of us that can't be assed to listen?

This please
Digilaut:
You're asking for somebody to go listen to the podcast and write down what is said for you, instead of listening to it?....hmm...
Seth Buzzard:
Yeah, I think it would take you less time to listen to it then have some one transcribe it all for you and then read it. It's like what? 45 minuets, you can listen while doing other things.
webz:
What Michael Bay did to make his co-workers almost cry: he showed them the script. <rimshot>
Gigatron_2005:
Heh.Somebody I know who worked at ILM said that he and his friends there hated Bay. Said he was a total asshole and was beyond full of himself. In addition to that, some of them really hated the designs that the bots had taken. Stay classy Mr Bay.

That is truly hit and miss. Its proven statiscally when stress is applied people make more mistakes there is some rediculously small percent of people who actually get better in those situations. Its just a train of thought differance.

If you had one artist (call them A) capable of producing way better material B artist but the B artist can work under being assaulted verbally and A can't you miss out . Where as you do this differantly and critique it with out being a dick you might get A's full potential. Possibly in that scenario will get lazy and take the day off cause no one is threating his job. lol

back on topic I am going to have to hear the part about devastators balls. I can only imagine what the ILM people were saying when that came up. lol Maybe something along the lines of " he nearly makes one animator cry because its about being professional and looking just right then we have to put BALLS on a robot!!!" truly wtf@tfw
